Professor Styx led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He informed them of the rules, the points, and made sure they were aware of what not to do. He instructed, "Begin."
OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun! Be creative!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Oz was hoping he'd do a little better in the tournament this time around. Bailey was perfectly nice and he didn't exactly want to hurt her, but he was going to do his best and try and win, not wanting anyone to take him lightly just because of his short stature. He bowed politely, before quickly going for a simple, effective "stupefy".

Bailey was hopeful heading into the duelling tournament that she would be able to win and maybe even challenge to win the whole thing. She bowed to her opponent and walked back to her corner to begin. Oswald cast the first spell which she used a shield charm to block before casting the Jelly Fingers curse.

Oz didn't think it would be that easy, but he was quick to cast a protego of his own and block the jinx that came back towards him. "Confundo!" he fired back, upping his game a little now.

Bailey blocked the spell that Oswald fired at her with a shielding charm and shot back a Tarantallegra spell at him.

Oz used a shield charm just in time, barely managing to block the spell. He wished he had the ability to use wandless magic but of course, he wasn't old enough or experienced enough to really have that ability yet, even with his bloodline. So instead, he just cast a trip jinx back.

Trip jinxes were annoying to defend against, she went to cast a shielding charm but she wasn't fast enough, Oswald's spell taking her out and forcing her to trip and fall to the ground, it took every ounce of strength Bailey had to hold onto her wand and point it back at her opponent. "Expelliarmus,"

Oz hadn't expected the spell to work. He frowned, looking over to see if Bailey was alright...and almost lost his wand for it, having to quickly move out of the way. At least there was less of him to move, even if it threw him off balance a little. He sent back a slightly shaky "Expelliarmus," of his own, hoping to quickly disarm her while she was down.

For a brief second, Bailey thought she had got him but he moved out of the way of her spell. She was glad, she wouldn't have wanted to win because he was checking to see if she was alright. "Almost got you Oz," She laughed once back on her feet having cast a shield charm to block his disarming charm and cast a Bat-bogey hex back at him.

Oz was having a great time. He definitely liked this more than Quidditch, that was for sure. "You're pretty good," he replied, earnest in his compliment, though he cut the 'd' off to quickly cast a protego, barely in time, adrenaline coursing through him. He could have been more cut-throat, perhaps, but they were there to have fun as much as they were to try and win, and he didn't have any hard feelings towards Bailey. He went for a jelly legs jinx, then, wanting to see if he could keep her off balance.

”Not so bad yourself,” she smiled at him as she cast a shield charm to block his spell. The duel was dragging a little even if she was enjoying it. She turned her wand back on him and cast a disarming charm to try and hurry things along.

Oz was a little tired, and the fact that he dodged the spell by ducking instead of blocking it didn't exactly help his energy, but he was a little short of breath for giving the incantation. He paused for a moment before also firing back a disarming spell.
