Professor Styx led the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He informed them of the rules, the points, and made sure they were aware of what not to do. He instructed, "Begin."
OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun! Be creative!

Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels. Duelers cannot cast spells at the spectators or face disqualification.

Morrie wasn't sure about the Gryffindor she was duelling today, she didn't know anything about her and decided that she didn't need to try be her friend. Morrie gave Apolline a cold looke gave her a quick bow per their instructions and quickly cast "Stupefy"

Apolline was so very eager to win this, to show her stuff and her magical ability. So it wasn't great when the other girl got the first spell in and Apolline was barely able to block it. Though she picked the slug vomiting curse to send back.

Morrie nearly got her with stupefy but unfortunately for Morrie, it was blocked. She also barely blocked the slug vomiting hex, realising that duelling was harder than it looked. Morrie considered her next move before casting "Locomotor Mortis."

Apolline dodged out the way of the spell and almost dropped her wand in doing so. She then sent back a rather simple trip jinx.

The harder Morrie concentrated, the more severe her features became. Her eyebrows furrowed deeply, and a serious frown settled on her face even as her spell was dodged. The Slytherin shielded herself from the trip jinx, then covered her mouth as she muttered her next incantation, hoping her opponent wouldn’t hear and wouldn’t know what was coming. "Expelliarmus!"

Apolline shielded against the spell which came her way and was quick to fire back a "Tarantallegra"

Her opponent dodged the last two spells, and Morrie huffed in frustration. "Will you just stand still so I can hit you?" she demanded, sounding thoroughly cross. She quickly blocked an incoming spell, then countered with her own, shouting, "Stupefy!"

Apolline shook her head at the demand, just this time managing to shield against the spell. She gave a little breath, this wasn't as easy as professionals made it seem, she got her stance right, and cast "Expelliarmus!"

Morrie didn't really expect her opponent to do as she said, but it would have been nice. Morrie had to block the disarming spell, otherwise she would loose her wand and the duel. She considered her next move and decided on sending a trip jinx.

Apolline wasn't sure she had many other spells she could use, and just blocked the spell coming her way and then cast, "Everte Statum"

It was a close call as Morrie jumped out of the way just in time, narrowly avoiding a hit. She had been momentarily distracted thinking about how tiring duelling was, she'd never cast this many spells one after the other before. Morrie had just about exhausted the spells she could confidently cast in a duel, there were a few more but she wasn't sure she would get them right. Instead she sent something that she knew, she'd get right, "Stupefy"

Apolline was not very quick in noticing the spell that then came her way, she tried to cast a shield, but it failed and the spell hit.

Styx watched the duel, and soon enough, the daughter of the minister for magic lost the duel. Disappointing, but he was not going to mention it out loud. "Ayre wins." Styx revived the Gryffindor to remove the spell from her, and motioned for them both to leave the stage.
