Y35 Duelling Match #29

It was the final round of duels, and Katherine looked over the remaining two competitors. This would be the final round to determine who would be the Champion for their year. The Headmistress began to lead duelists to the platform. Taking up her own position overseeing them, she began, "Duelists, prepare yourselves. This is your final chance to claim the title of Champion. Make it count. Now, bow and commence."

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!

As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Sydney had grinned when she found out she'd be facing down Simon in the final match. She was disappointed that Eric hadn't had the guts or intelligence this tournament to manage to actually win a match to face her, but at least Simon might make things interesting. "Hope you're ready," She said as a friendly warning, cutting her eyes over again to Professor Alicastell least she get in trouble for simply opening her mouth again before she cast off her first spell. "Furnunculus!"

Simon would never admit it but he was a little nervous to face Sydney in a duel. She was ruthless and he admired that, and it was bound to be a good match. But she was also the only person who's company he really enjoyed here and it would be a shame to ruin that today. But he grinned, "It's about time I faced some real competition." She fired first and he threw a shield charm up just in time. "Incendio!"

Sydney frowned when Simon tried to hit her with an incendio charm, having already dealt with that once in this tournament. She pulled up a shield charm, shaking her head at Simon before lobbing back a spell in return. "Locomotor Mortis!" Sydney was surprised to find she was feeling less inclined to maim Simon like with some of her other opponents, though it didn't mean she was going to take it easy on them.

Simon was glad when his spell didn't land. On second thought, he didn't really want to set Sydney on fire. Just as he was making up his mind to try and disarm her next, she fired back. Sydney was fast and he wasn't able to throw up his shield charm in time. His legs locked together and his arms went flailing as he fell on his back. The wind was knocked out of him and as much as he would have liked a more graceful end, he did have enough pride to lose with dignity. "Touché." he wheezed, as he sat up on his elbows.
