Professor Kain was looking forward to seeing how the students got on with their duelling. As one of the Charms professors he took pride in seeing the spells in use, and watching some of his own students practise with one another. He welcomed the next two students to their positions, taking his own at the front of the room “Once you have bowed, you may begin,” he said, giving them the go ahead to begin their duel, and keeping an eye on the event from afar.

OOCOut of Character:
The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Kas wasn't really sure what he was doing signing up for dueling. It had mostly been a whim, but now he was half regretting it. He bowed to Emma, trying not to feel too much like an idiot, especially since he was pretty sure his wand was going to make him look like one sooner or later. Once Emma seemed ready, Kas flung out the simplest spell he could, relieved when his wand didn't try to explode or leap out of his own hand. "Expelliarmus!"

Emma hadn't sigsned up for the SDA itself, but the dueling tournament sounded pretty fun. She grinned as she hopped onto the stage, spotting a boy she knew from Hufflepuff. She thought he was friends witht hat annoying Freya, so she would be happy to beat him. She bowed, then quickly blocked his spell."STUPEFY!" She then shouted, hoping to be as loud as possible to startle him.

Rob shot out of his skin at the side of the stage, head shooting towards the girl who had just startled him if nothing else.

Kas flinched when Emma fired off her first spell, much to his irritation. He'd been ready with a shield charm to block it, but when the spell heading straight for him, he could already tell the shield wouldn't cut it and ducked down hurriedly, wincing when he banged his knee on the stage. "I don't think yelling the spell makes it stronger," He muttered, angling a spell at her legs to buy him time to get back to his feet. "Tarantallegra," Kas said, trying not to stumble over the pronunciation

Emma giggled at the boy's words, blocking his spell with another shield charm. She grinned at him. "I KNOW!" She yelled, just to irritate him now. "EXPELLIARMUS!"

Kas tried not to roll his eyes, considering he still had to pay attention to what Emma was doing, even if she was intent on shouting about it. He was surprised to find his annoyance meant he was able to throw up his shield this time without issue. Feeling more confident, Kas shot a tripping jinx at Emma, relieved when his wand continued to behave for now.

Emma's shouting technique wasn't really working that well, though she was glad she seemed to at least be distracting her opponent a little. SHe grinned at him, but then yelped as the tripping jinx hit her and she fell on her knees onto the stage. Emma managed to keep a hold of her wand. "Expelliarmus." She hissed, pointing her wand at Kas from her position on the floor. She glowered at him.

Kas couldn't help but feel some vindictive pleasure when his trip jinx managed to knock Emma down. He was usually all for theatrics, but her's were grating on him. He noted her next spell wasn't shouted this time, feeling a little petty joy that she maybe wasn't having as much fun as before. He was able to block her disarming spell, his wand seeming to want to cooperate with his current mindset. Kas briefly spared a thought if his wand enjoyed being petty as much as he was right now before sending off a laughing jinx. "Rictusempra,"

Emma realized too late that dodging while on the floor would be difficult, and she didn't prepare her shield charm in time. She yelped as the spell hit her, and then started to laugh uncontrollably. She attempted to get up, but the laughter made it difficult. Instead, she rolled over to the side, laughing hysterically as she rolled right off the stage. She could feel anger and frustration at losing in this way, but she couldn't express is as all she could do was laugh.

Professor Kain had been watching the match closely between some of his second year students. They were both capable of beating one another, but things took a downhill turn both in the duel and literally for Emma as she began to laugh, before rolling straight off the stage. The charms professor was quick to throw a spell of his own to break her fall, heading across from his spot to help end the spells cast on the Gryffindor and and make sure she was alright. "Well done Kasim! You're through to the next round." he spoke, beckoning them both away from the limelight.

OOCOut of Character:
Kasim Safir wins!
