Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Sully was keen to try out dueling, grinning as he stepped onto the stage to face Daintree. He wasn't sure if it was better or worse to go up against a friend or not, but Sully wasn't planning on taking it easy on Daintree just cause he liked him. Bowing, Sully got into what he hoped was a solid stance before trying to think of a spell to cast. He'd been so focused on how cool this was going to be his mind went blank for a second before settling on something easy; "Stupefy!"

Daintree had decided that duelling was quite possibly the best thing about the school so far, far better than the quidditch. Duelling could be so much fun to him. He didn't mind fighting Sully, not at all. In fact for Dain it seemed easier, he liked Sully, he was more relaxed, it didn't feel so high pressure. He bowed, though he thought that was silly. He blocked the first spell, and sent back a trop jinx

Sully laughed as the trip jinx hit him, feeling the air push out of his lungs as he hit the ground with a soft grunt. He managed to hold onto his wand though, aiming his spell awkwardly from his back at Daintree's feet. "Oof, good one! Uh, Rictusempra!" At least on his back, Sully had to worry less about thinking on his feet, though he still scrambled to stand as his jinx shot towards Daintree.

He was quite surprised when his first spell hit his friend. If they weren't friends, Daintree might've laughed at him, but instead he just watched the boy on the floor, as he aimed a spell from the floor to him. Daintree cast a quick protego spell and followed it with, "Tarantallegra." perhaps he had picked it because it would be funny to see it in action if Sully remained on the floor.

While Sully had plenty of practice with shielding charms after messing around with Amy and his football a lot, in practice it was a lot different when you were trying to attack as well. He'd just about gotten to his feet when Daintree's next spell hit him too, sending his feet scrambling out from under him in an uncontrolled dance. Cackling, Sully mostly succeeded in rolling around on the floor, deciding to just give up on standing and let his feet do what they were going to do. Grasping his wand, Sully lobbed a disarming spell in Daintree's general direction, not really able to see if the spell went wide when his feet were doing their best to drag his prone body across the stage.

As he watched his second spell hit Sully, he couldn't help but think both that the duelling was easy and that his friend looked a little pathetic. That was wrong to think of his friend. Sully was one of Daintree's few friends...but it just looked...dumb. He blocked the spell with ease though it could've nearly missed him. He just shot back with a "Stupefy,"

Sully hoped anyone watching their duel was having as much fun as he was. He wasn't exactly coming across as dignified, but Sully didn't really mind if other people thought it was funny. Daintree's dancing jinx though was making aiming or doing anything beyond flailing around the stage increasingly difficult though, and when Daintree fired off another spell, Sully could only manage to roll himself away, thankful that at least being on the ground made him a small target. The spell missed, but Sully only had a moment to stifle a laugh before his legs danced him right off the stage, landing on the dueling chamber floor with a thud and a groan.

Katherine raised her hands once the Gryffindor boy danced himself off of the stage, signaling a cease to the duel. "That concludes this match. Congratulations, Mr Vaskevold. Mr Tofilau, please attend to a nurse if need be." The woman called, ending the effects of the dancing spell on the prone boy for good measure.
