Y33 Dueling Match #13

Leading the first batch of duelists onto the stage, Katherine gestured for them to take their positions on opposite ends, and briefly explained the rules and formalities as a refresher, though by now everyone both competing and spectating was bound to know them. With all said and done, the Headmistress took her place on a raised podium overlooking the stage and the crowd gathered around it, before taking her wand to her throat. "Bow and commence." Her voice boomed clearly, informing the competitors that they were welcome to begin.

The duel begins now. You have 24 hours to post, or face disqualification. Ensure that you use the spell list for guidance on age-appropriate spells, and read over the dueling rules and points system. If you are knocked out or otherwise disarmed/incapacitated, or if you run out of points, you will lose and the duel will end. Have fun!
As an added note: Spectators are allowed to post in this topic once per competitors post, but are forbidden from directly interfering with the duels.

Phoebe felt like she had a bit of an advantage. Her duel with Shane hadn't been an official one, and hadn't been that spectacular either, but it had at least given her a little bit of practice. She faced down her opponent with a confident smile, convinced she would beat her easily. Nora wasn't someone Phoebe knew very well, they were in the same classes but had never really talked. That would only make it easier to beat her mercilessly. Phoebe bowed, then immediately shot off a spell. She sent a Bat-bogey hex flying at the girl, hoping to catch her off guard.

Extra curricular activities. That's what her mum told her to do on her sixth year. Good grades and extra things will always be good on job applications but for her it was only fun. Duelling was out there, seemingly a substitute for anything else but an organize girl club. It was also a distraction for the fact her friend was graduating soon and she can't help but be emotional about it. Snapping out of her daydream, Nora went up to the podium as the Headmistress called upon them. Wands out, the brunette Slytherin looked at her opponent and try as she might. Nora didn't know her. Does that matter right now? For her it didn't. The girl bowed at her and as if her bearings haven't adjusted, she heard a spell thrown at her by the girl. With a swish of her wand, she constructed a shield charm. Blocking the spell that she didn't want to know what will happen if gets hit. "Obscuro!" Nora yelled back and light stream out of the tip of her wand. She will not lose this duel.

The duel had only just started, and Phoebe was ready to make it a spectacular one. She blocked the girl's spell with an easy shield charm, having enough time to do so. She wanted to do something new, something they had learned this year. Phoebe grinned and shot off a new spell. "Langlock!"

"Dios Mio!" Nora muttered when the girl shielded herself from her counter spell. But that didn't end when she countered Nora's spell with a new spell she heard from first semester. "La pequeña señorita sabe que todo es difícil después de todo." (Little miss know it all is tough after all) Another waved of her wand and she shielded herself as the spell was too fast for her to dodge. "Diffindo!" Nora shouted. Pointing her wand toward her opponents non vital organ part of the body. She wanted to win this and maybe she can celebrate with Spencer before graduation.

Phoebe wondered if Nora muttering and talking spanish to herself was supposed to be some sort of distracting technique, and she decided to ignore it. She countered the spell the girl sent her way with a shield charm, her eyebrows raised. It seemed like a harsh spell to use, and Phoebe supposed that meant she could use some more interesting spells as well. "Incendio!" She called, grinning as flames erupted from her wand.

The Slytherin sixth year raised an eyebrow when her opponent blocked her counter spell faster than ever. She was impressed and yet, it was only from there, impressed. Of course, she wouldn't allow that emotion to get away from her face. It was then the other announced her spell that will surely hurt her more than anything. She countered with not the shield charm but the water charm. "Aguamenti!" She flicked her wand as fast as she could. Thinking she could extingushed the fire coming at her with water mid-air.

Phoebe always quite enjoyed using the fire spell, and in the past it had definitely freaked out some of her opponents. But Nora surprisingly stayed pretty cool, and blocked the spell with water. Phoebe got a bit of water on her clothes, but not much else. She grinned, feeling like she was getting the upper hand. She stepped forward and cast another spell. "Levicorpus!"

The fact she was enjoying her first duel was exhilarating. She wanted to win very badly but if not, there's always a second chance next year for another win. Nora smiled slightly as she managed to block the fire spell with water. When her classmate countered yet again, the Slytherin dark haired girl made a crucial dodge to her right that made her trip on the platform. She did avoided to get levitated but left a gash on her knee was the price. Without stopping or standing up, Nora blurted out a counter spell. "Confringo!" Her spell choosing was somewhat harsh but it was a duel nonetheless.
