Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.​

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.


The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

October had been on the fence about whether or not to sign up for duels again, but in the end she knew the challenge would be good for her, and it would be good to get some practice with practical spells. She was relieved not to have been paired with Tristan, someone she didn't know at all would be a far easier target. After the duel began she moved quickly, hoping to catch her opponent unawares and end the duel before it had started. "Langlock!" She cast, simultaneously strafing to avoid any spells he might be ready with. If she could take away his ability to talk, hopefully the duel would be over before it even started.

October's reflexes were sharp from years of dance, and she was ready for her opponent to retaliate, blocking his spell easily. She continued to move as she retaliated, remembering that her tactic of staying in motion had served her well in her tumultuous duel against Tristan last year. She tried to angle her spell to be coming from a direction Austin wouldn't expect, as she returned fire. "Incarcerous!"

Austin hadn't expected his first spell to land so wasn't at all surprised when October quickly countered, Austin cast a quick shielding charm to block her binding charm and fired a trip jinx back at her.

October tried to lean out of the way of Austin's next spell but misjudged the angle, stumbling and falling backwards onto the dueling platform. The moment October had landed though, she retaliated, hoping to catch Austin by surprise with a spell from lower than he was expecting. "Stupefy!" She cast back before scrambling to her feet, ignoring the definite bruise she could feel forming.

Austin grew hopeful when October stumbled and fell to the floor but that quickly vanished when she got to her feet and fired a stunning charm at him. Austin blocked the spell and pointed his wand back at October, "Impedimentia,"
