Jon expected the sixth years he lead onto the duelling platform would already understand the rules, but he explained them anyway just to be safe. When he was sure they understood and each of them knew which end of the platform they were duelling from he left the stage so they could begin.

OOCOut of Character:
Please refer to the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Leo had signed up for the duelling tournament in the hopes of doing something new, since he was in his sixth year he didn’t have many chances left of doing such things. Unfortunately though all he knew about his first opponent Marisol was the fact that she was friends with Wyatt, a boy in his house and year. He'd hardly spoken to Marisol, which was funny, since they were both Gryffindors, too. After they were explained the rules, they had to start and Leo was quick on his feet. "Langlock!"

Although Marisol was a lot less angrier than she used to be, there were still a lot of things that upset her. Thankfully, she decided that the dueling tournament would be the perfect way to release her anger in a healthier way. Though it didn't help that the boy standing across from her was a visual reminder of one of the things she was most angry about recently. She'd never really talked to the boy but she knew he was Wyatt's roommate and seeing him reminded her that he wasn't around anymore. Marisol exhaled deeply and quickly blocked the boy's oncoming spell, and then shot back, "Obscuro!" Let's see what he'd do without his vision.

The duel had just started and Leo was oblivious to the neutral/bemused expression Marisol held, he just thought duelling would be a fun way to strengthen his own skills. He hardly paid attention to the tone she used. When she cast a spell that sounded nothing fun and more something that would play with his vision, Leo quickly cast the shield charm and fired, "Confundo!" His vision was not to be messed with.

Marisol was quick to block the spell he threw her way. Defense Against the Dark Arts was the only subject she was actually decent in because she knew with her condition, her life depended on it. Marisol whipped her wand and shouted out, "Incendio!" pointing straight at her target.

It did not take long at all for Leo to notice the air in the atmosphere as Marisol blocked the spell and threw another his way, too quick for the Italian Gryffindor to block it. He winced as his shirt and tie both set on fire and he cast Aguamenti, trying to ignore the tingling sensation the fire had left behind. Damn, she didn’t seem to take this as lightly as Leo had at first but he new better than that now. He had to be more careful. "Furnunculus!"

Marisol smirked when she managed to light her opponent on fire, but her satisfaction was short lived when he was able to put himself out before too much damage was done. That just meant she'd have to send harder spells his way. Marisol shouted out, "Protego," just as he fired a spell her way, glad that she hadn't been hit because she would not have wanted to experience that. Getting frustrated, the latina fired, "Stupefy!"

Leo hardly noticed his opponent smirking as he tried not to get into a fit on panic as he put out the fire. She had been quick, but now the Gryffindor Prefect won’t be distracted. He would make sure of that, in any case. He was ready by the time Marisol cast her next spell and he blocked it, his shield charm getting stronger as time passed. "Petrificus Totalus!" A basic spell but one that was at the top of his head.

Marisol blocked his oncoming spell with ease and rolled her eyes at the simple spell. "How about an actual challenge?" she commented dryly and then cast, "Langlock!"

Leo quickly learnt that this duel wasn't like he had expected and that his opponent t was either really mad or it was her time of month. Either way, Leo did not want to get onto her bad side, and even more so when she threw the langlock spell at him. No way. He made a dive to the side, and stopped himself from falling, however the spell had missed. He got up again and smirked. "An actual challenge you say? Alright." With the correct wand movement and incantation, Leo sent the babbling curse her way, despite it not being one of the worst spells he could do.

Marisol had hoped her comment would provoke the boy into being caught off guard, or at least to fuel him into giving her a real challenge, but the next spell he cast wasn't so bad again either. The Gryffindor was ready and had her Shield up around her to deflect the spell and replied with a snort, "That's weak." She flicked her wand fiercely and shouted, "Confringo!" aiming straight at her subject even if it was a harsh spell.

Leo knew the spell he had fired last hadn’t been any type of 'challenge' his housemate had asked for, so instead of fooling around or trying to have fun, he would focus on the harder spells. However, to his surprise he blocked Marisol's next spell as well with the shield charm. "Hey, maybe you should try to have a little fun," he called to her. Man, she was way too intense. "Muffliato!"
