OOCOut of Character:
All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Jerara didn't think he had enough occasions to practice a lot of his spell casting and always signed up for duelling whenever it came around. The teen didn't know the person he competing against very well, but he was eager to fight them. He bowed and walked backwards, pointing his wand at her and saying, "Diffindo" with a clear voice.

Though she had signed up for the competition before... certain things had happened, Rory's decision to at least try and go ahead with her first match today hadn't been popular. Her little sister had been particularly pleading and angry, but for Rory, agreeing to pass on this event felt like... like she was admitting to something she didn't want to think about. That's why she was here, trying to distract herself. Distracting herself too well, as it turned out. Rory missed the cue to begin the duel, and it was only once she heard her opponent speak an incantation that she thought to pull her mind back into what she was supposed to be doing. It was too late to cast a shielding spell now though, and Rory ended up having to jump to the side to avoid being hit by the jet of light streaking towards her. Though at first she couldn't remember what the spell had been supposed to do, once she did her breath became shaky. But she didn't want to feel shaky, not about anything. That was why she was here, Rory tried to remind herself as she pointed her wand toward the boy at the other end of the stage. "Confundo," she called, though not as determinedly as she once might have.

Confundo was not the first spell which Jerara might've tried to throw, but it was a good spell. He cast a quick shield to stop the spell from hitting him, and chose his next spell carefully, "Densaugeo," it wouldn't perhaps hurt the girl much but it wouldn't be fun, and he couldn't imagine having it cast upon him. So, hopefully if it did hit it would do more damage than would first appear.

Rory was much more prepared for the spell shooting back at her this time, but her caution almost caused her to throw up the shield charm too early. Sustained concentration was her biggest challenge even on a good day, and the force of the spell actually shattered her shield rather than being absorbed by it. Taking that in, Rory's mind went blank for a brief moment before she sent back an uncertain sounding "Expelliarmus!" Watching her opponent at the other end of the stage, she was struggling to remember why she had originally been so excited to sign up for this.

jerara had enjoyed doing prior duels and this was no exception, it was an good way to use his magic, it was a pity there wasn't a similar occasion to use the unforgivable curses, just to see how they were in reality. He put up a shield quickly before saying, "Rictusempra,"

Once again, Rory's spell hadn't managed to unsettle her opponent at all. She chewed at her lip, but couldn't seem to conjure any frustration or indignation about it. That was vaguely unsettling, she thought, and she was so distracted at how she managed to be worried over that rather than the fact that she was doing horribly, that she didn't see the next spell coming at her until it was too late. Hitting her squarely in the chest, Rory began laughing immediately. It was odd to hear and she didn't like it... but she couldn't make it stop. Pushing words out past her lips was impossible, and her stomach hurt from being forced to laugh so much that she had to physically fold her arms over it in an attempt to try and stay upright. It didn't work; Rory ended up sinking to her knees, rolling herself into a ball on the floor in a desperate attempt to curb the strangled, unnatural laughter being pulled from her throat. Her wand lay abandoned behind her - she had never even noticed dropping it.
