Professor Styx leads the two contestants to the stage, appointing them into the north or south part of the stage. He reveals the rules as well as the point system. He walks off the stage and orders the duel to begin, as he keeps a watchful eye.​

All right, make sure that you use the spell list for guidance. No board rule breaking is acceptable. Have fun! I have a copy of the code that you should use with every post. Remember, when you are knocked out, unable to shoot anymore spells, you lost. And if you run out of points, you lose.
The duel begins now. If someone doesn't post after 24 hours, they are disqualified.

Becoming involved in school events was difficult for Gilly, there was nothing that took her fancy, that was until she had the chance to duel, it was like fighting, she'd been told, and Gilly had always been good at fighting. The teen had of course signed up and now she felt more than ready to get started. The teen copied what she was told to do and then pointed her wand at the other person. She already had the spell she wanted to use on her lips and said, "Furnunculus," the moment that she could.

There was no way that Geo was going to lose at a duelling competition. She felt as though this is what she was at school for, and with a career ahead of her as an Auror she had joined the SDA for just this reason. Aware too that Professor Styx was watching them, Geo greeted Gilly and prepared herself to do as well as she possibly could. With Charms and DADA amongst her favourite subjects, she crossed her fingers she wasn't going to fail. With her wand out in front of her, she quickly deflected the spell thrown in her direction, "Protego!" she said with a grin towards the Slytherin. "Stupefy," she threw back, starting off with something simple.

Gilly wasn't surprised the other girl managed to block her spell, if she was right about who this girl was then she knew that this person was far more studious than Gilly. Gilly dodged Geo's spell as it raced towards her, but she didn't waste any time in firing back, "Rictusempra," making someone laugh uncontrollably didn't seem like much of a spell for a duel but it would maybe make it more difficult for the other person to say their spell.

Geo was a little confused as to why Gilly was using the spells she was, but quickly blocking the spell once again and concentrating on how she could beat her Slytherin opponent. "Locomotor Mortis!" she called out clearly, hoping that it would distract her enough that she wouldn't be able to block the spell nor fire something back at her quite so fast. She was enjoying this more than she thought she would, and bounced her weight between each leg as she prepared herself.

Gilly was rather enjoying the duel, the whole casting magic for a fight was something that suited her, and she liked the sort of power that seemed to go along with it. The girl was able to this time get a shield up in time. She pointed her wand back at the other girl and decided to cast the trip jinx. Thinking that would be quite a good spell to cast and one she hadn't gotten many occasions to use.

Geo was almost laughing when Gilly tried to trip her up. She was definitely going to need to do better than that if she wanted to beat her. Casting the protective shield once again at the same time moving around the room to try and get a better angle on the Slytherin, Geo gave one of the more basic spells a shot "Expelliarmus" she said, hoping that Gilly would lose her wand all together and be unable to duel her.

Gilly blocked the spell sent at her with a flick of her wand, with each time she cast, magic feeling increasingly confident in her own abilities, it feeling increasingly natural. The teen liked fighting like this, it was like what she'd done before magic, a little structure and a little violence. She picked her next spell and said, "Incendio," she didn't want to set fire to the girl, but she'd only gotten to try this spell a little, she couldn't help but want to give a shot in this duel.
