James couldn't believe he was one of the new quidditch captains. Co-captains with his best friend no less. He had been preparing himself for Rudolf being his captain but they would be working together which would make quidditch even more fun. James was the first to arrive at the quidditch pitch though it wasn't long before he was joined by his best friend. He decided to do a few laps of the pitch to warm up, as he was coming back to the ground some of his team mates had begun turning up and shortly after them, hopeful trialists started showing up. James and Rudolf had decided that James would be making the introduction speech so he called everyone in and began. "Welcome to the Gryffindor try outs, my name is James Cade, seeker extraordinaire and your co-captain along with Rudolf Lagowski who plays chaser,," James pointed to his co-captain and smiled. "I won't sugarcoat it, last year we sucked so we need to do better, we have a couple of positions open and we only take the best, good luck," He then went over to the chest and released the balls.

OOCOut of Character:
Players from the previous year are guaranteed their spot without needing to try out again - as long as attendance is posted before try-outs are over. Alternates, however, will need to try out again.

First years are required to PM me for approval before attempting to try out - which will only be accepted if there is a need for more players.

Wyatt was a little nervous to try out for the team this year because he knew that he had to try that much harder to get out of the position as alternate. The boy wanted to be a full time player as beater for Gryffindor because the game was extremely therapeutic for him. He'd have to impress the new captains which he felt lucky to have done with Archie and Ailsa both of whom were now doing something entirely different out of Hogwarts. He'd rarely spoken to either of them outside of practice and games so he could hardly imagine anything from them so the fourth year didn't really think much of who the new captains were until now as he made his way to the pitch and nodded his head towards James and Rudolf.

He had practiced over his winter break back in the summer sun of Los Angeles - he'd grown taller and slightly more defined but mostly more in skill. Wyatt flashed a toothy grin to them both and said, "Hey. I'll be going for beater." The boy flipped his beaters bat from hand to hand, listening to what was said about the last season and Wyatt had to agree which was why he had practiced intensively. The fourth year waited for the go ahead at which point he kicked off the ground did a couple laps to assure his control of the broom was the way he wanted it and prepared to play for his position.

Soon the balls were released and Wyatt who was trying hard flew quickly around the field near those he had to defend from bludgers which he knew he could do given the opportunity to play full time rather than be benched a majority of the season. He saw a bludger fly in the direction of a chaser and he quickly steadied himself and knocked the bludger far off and towards the 'opposing' team though he had missed hitting them by inches. He had at least given them a fright and protected the chaser.

No rest for the wicked though as Wyatt continued to fly around the field, wanting to impress the new captains. He wasn't about show boating so he didn't flourish at all as he spotted yet another bludger and although it was headed towards no one he wanted to hit it to the 'opposite' team so he swung the bat in his arm and watched as it hit the tail end of the broom of one of them, getting them shaken and distracted from their goal which Wyatt smiled at. Practice had paid off emensely. The boy continued this way, missing or falling short only once until the game had come to an end with someone catching a snitch. The boy smiled and touched down to the ground, happy that overall he had done quite well and hoped that the captains would see this.

Rudolf had no doubt that this year Gryffindor would take the Quidditch cup. How could they not, when himself and James were co-captains of the team? Rudolf arrived at the pitch with a broad grin on his face, giving James a thump on the back before taking to the air and racing him a few times around the pitch. Before too long the rest of the team arrived, along with the hopeful tryouts, and Rudolf stood next to his best friend while he instructed them on what to do. Once the balls were released he joined the students in the air and played along, glad for an hour or two of practice before he had to go inside and study for the upcoming term.

Merrill had been anticipating this day all summer. This year would be the year she finally tried out for the Gryffindor team. She had practised as much as she could over break, and was confident in her ability. Even still she nervously ate some toast over breakfast hoping that she would be good enough. There was a lot of love for quidditch at the school, and only the best would make the team. The young witch gripped her Silver Arrow tightly as she walked down with a few other students to the quidditch pitch. She recognized a few who were already on the team, but some were new just like her. When it came time Merrill introduced herself, and told them she was trying out for keeper.

At the release of the balls Merrill kicked off into the air, and few straight for the goal posts. The quaffle was currently on the other side of the pitch, but she darted back, and forth in front of the posts in anticipation. Soon enough the other teams chaser was coming towards her. Merrill took a calming breath, and focused in. She matched the chaser as they flew serpentine around the pitch trying to avoid other players. Finally the girl took a shot at the right hoop. Merrill dashed, and caught the quaffle at the last second. She quickly tossed the ball towards an open chaser, and watched again for it to come back.

After a few rounds Merrill had managed catch 9 of the ten shots the other team had thrown at her. The last one just grazed her fingers, and the young witch cursed as it flew through the hoops. She dived down to catch it, and threw it back to her team hoping she hadn't botched her try out with one mistake. Once the snitch was caught Merrill flew back to the ground more nervous than she had been at the start. Hopefully the captains would take note of all the goals she had saved, and not the one she let through.

Octavian had finally decided it was time to try out for quidditch and it was largely due to the positions that he knew were available. He hadn't had any interest in being an alternate in previous years but he had a good feeling about making it on the team as a keeper and had been practicing over the holidays. The Gryffindor ate breakfast bright and early to make sure it settled early before the try out and as a result was one of the first ones out of the great hall and headed straight for the quidditch pitch. He changed into practice robes in the changing room and took his new broom out onto the pitch. He listened to one of the co-captains as he gave a little speech and introduced himself and the other captain before beginning the try out.

"Octavian Vetrov, trying out for keeper," He said confidently addressing both captains before he mounted his broom and made his way to the hoops where he stood guard waiting for the first chaser to try their luck. He didn't recogise the first chaser, maybe they were a second year or something. Their shot was low and to the left, Octavian had to roll to make the save but he managed it, somehow able to grip the quaffle and hold it in his hand. He didn't want to dwell too much on the second shot, it had him fooled, the female chaser made him think she was shooting to the hoop on the right only to shoot down the middle once she got him to move. Octavian moved swiftly on from that and went onto save the remainder of his shots. Though four out of five was not bad, the one miss annoyed him, mostly because the manor in which it happened. "Thank you," He said to the captains and walked away, a little disappointed.

Lizzie felt almost as nervous approaching the pitch to watch this year's tryouts as she had when she was trying out herself. It was going to be strange, without Archie around anymore. He had helped her out so much last year, when her confidence in her own abilities had been so low, and with him gone she was nervous she wouldn't be able to live up to the new captains standards.

But if there was one thing Lizzie couldn't live without, it was sports. She greeted her returning teammates as she entered the pitch for the tryouts, taking to the sky when the balls were released, happy to help test the new tryouts and get in a little extra practice before the new season began.

Scarlet walked down to the Pitch, she hadn't been in a while, she had the pleasure of joining her mother's team as an extra alternative to he two alternatives, she jumped at the chance even though it meant leaving her school team for the year, but after a year she decided to return, the experience of training with a professional team would forever help her in her future plans of following her mother's footsteps and one day taking over as Coach and Captain of the Tuscan Charmers.
The Third year had her broom and bat in hand, she wore her Quidditch pants and boots accompanied with a warm jumper over her plain white T-shirt. Approaching the group of Students trying out she smiled at some familiar faces, it wasn't long until the co-captain's gave their speech and introduced themselves, they mentioned that last year they sucked and she looked down and the ground to cover her small smile, Last year she wasn't on the team, this year she hoped she would be allowed back on the team to pick up where she left off and help her team back to victory. before long try outs began.

Scarlet took a step forward brushing her hair out of her face just like her mother does 'Scarlet Frost, re-applying for Beater' she said with a smile, she took two strong strides and mounted her broom mid air shooting off with speed but still making the whole process look delicate and easy. Her bat was firmly in her grasp as her hand was comfortably at her side and she held on with the other, pulling tight turns which would throw most off their brooms.
Listening she heard Bludgers grumble as they caused mayhem trying to target anyone who came their way or close to their path. Bringing her Bat up high she intercepted a Bludger and cracked it up high and far from the pitch hoping it would take a bit to return, but in Quidditch even with one Bludger gone, the other one would soon cause an issue, which is why teams would have two Beater's instead of just one. pulling the tip of her broom up she turned around finding a chaser on trial and kept close to them to keep them clear of the bludgers, each time she picked up the sound she would lock in on it's location and if it was safe to break off from the chaser she was protecting she would send it flying away making it work it's way back into play.
Scarlet enjoyed the feeling of flying but the try outs would end soon, although she wished they wouldn't.

Hearing the game come to an end Scarlet brought her broom down to the Coaches and nodded at them in silent thanks and waited for everyone to leave and the Pitch was quiet to return to the air and try some more moves.

Marisol thanked her lucky stars that tryouts didn't fall on the week of a full moon just as they had last year and had missed it. She had bitterly waited all year for the chance to try out again and had trained hard all year to be able to keep up with the current team despite her condition. She had even trained herself in different positions since the one she wanted wasn't available. Marisol had also finally saved up enough money to buy her very own broom, something she was rather proud of and now she finally felt like she could show them what she was really capable of.

Marisol walked up to the pitch with her new broom over her shoulder and nodded her head at James' words as tryouts began. She watched Wyatt try out proudly, hoping he would finally get the spot he deserved on the team and when it was her turn, she channeled her nerves into adrenaline. "Marisol Woods, trying out for Chaser," the latina said with such ferocious determination in her eyes. Her voice was firm and defiant. It was no secret she really wanted the Seeker position most but she'd never get a chance to play while James was on the team, especially as a captain. But Marisol was determined to make it on the team and not just as an alternate, so if she had to take someone's position she would.

Marisol mounted her new broom and kicked off the ground hard, flying fast into the air. She loved this feeling and did a few laps around the pitch, picking up speed with each one because she felt that speed was essential for the position she was trying out for in order to avoid bludgers or other teammates stealing the ball. Once she was ready to begin, she gave a nod and the quaffle was tossed her way which she caught with both hands. She quickly tucked it under her arm and began to fly off toward the goal posts, ducking and weaving through obstacles. Her first shot went in easily but her next one wasn't so successful. Cursing herself, Marisol made sure to make up for it by intercepting a pass and flew off toward the goal posts where her shot luckily went through. Marisol continued to try and keep up with the game, occasionally passing the ball or ducking to avoid being hit by a bludger. When she had possession of the quaffle again, Marisol flew toward the goal posts and aimed for the right goal hoop. Her shot barely went in, grazing the Keeper's fingertips so while her attempt was successful, she wanted to be able to score once more because she didn't want that to be the last attempt they remembered her by. Marisol followed the ball being passed around closely and when she saw an opening, she caught the quaffle thrown at her and weaved through the 'opponents' and threw the ball with all her might, cheering when she saw it soaring through the left hoop.

She was proud for having scored 4 out of her 5 attempts and was completely winded from exerting all her energy. But it was a feeling she loved and would have to get used to pushing her body to its limits in order to keep up. Afterward, Marisol wanted to stay back and watch all the other tryouts. Even if she didn't make the team, or if she made it as an alternate again, she wanted to see what Gryffindor would be working with this year because she hoped her house could win this year. Hopefully that included her on the team but if not she wanted the best people to get picked.

Link Potter made his way down to the pitch with his twin sister. The Gryffindor boy had been jealous of Lyra last year when he had watched her playing in matches for the Gryffindor House. He had gritted his teeth in annoyance as the team lost match after match. His mum had not allowed him to try out since his first year, but he had changed her mind this year by being "responsible" during the school break. Really, she just hadn't caught him doing anything he wasn't supposed to do. So here he was, trying out for the Gryffindor Quidditch team. Link nodded at James and Rudolf.

"Link Potter. Trying out for keeper." he said with a wink at Lyra. The pair frequently played together with Lyra at chaser and himself at the keeper position. Lyra was tiny, fast, and an overall excellent chaser, but Link could still save more than half of her attempts to score. He grabbed his broom and flew to the hoops. He waited a little impatiently for the chasers to attempt to score. Link grinned he successfully saved the third shot that the chasers trying out sent his way. He noticed Lyra mount her broom and fly into the air. He grinned mischievously at her as she approached him with the quaffle in her hands. She faked left before rolling right and shooting the quaffle. She almost fooled him, but he saw what she was doing at the last minute. Link kicked the quaffle away with his foot with a triumphant grin.

Link landed back on the ground, pleased with the tryout. Lyra was an excellent chaser and he managed to save two of the three shots she attempted. He made his way back to the castle intending to take a nice hot shower.

Lyra Potter was really hoping that the Gryffindor Quidditch Team would make a better showing this year than they did last year. Lyra had suggested that Link tryout for Keeper in the hopes that he would make it. She trusted him to do the job. The slender brunette went down to the pitch with her twin. She waved to James. They had gotten close over the summer at her mother's shop, and Lyra really liked him. The chaser sat down on the grass for the first part of the tryout before taking to the sky to help her brother show his skills.
