For some reason, Mason Greene was made Captain, and he let everyone know of the try outs. But the thing was, the poor boy slept in, and was late to his own try outs! Grabbing his shoes, and his robes, he hurried out the dorms. There was nothing more irritating right now because his shoes felt really weird (he actually put them on backward by mistake). He made his way to the field, huffing and puffing with a little notepad. Everyone was there, and probably waiting forever for him! What a sorry excuse for a captain. As he approached the others without wasting any time, "Hey guys! I'm your ne-oof!" Mason tripped and hit the dirt, falling right on his front. He jumped back up, and kicked off his shoes to put them on the right feet after he finished talking. Not bothering to wipe or dust himself off, he smiled at the others. "Scarlet made me the new captain and has left the team, but if you guys don't know, I'm Mason Greene!"

Mason paused for a moment, before looking to the ones on the team before, "So, I will definitely not make the ones that were here last year try out. Anyway, I'm a Chaser! Sometimes I play seeker but I probably won't be doing that. Last time I crashed my broom into the keeper's goals. Being a chaser helps me stay away from it because I throw the ball in there, not me." Mason cleared his throat, knowing that some might be laughing at him or something. "Anyway, Chasers, you will need to shoot some goals. Keepers, guard of course. Beaters, protect, and Seekers, seek!" Mason pointed his wand at the box on the field, and released the balls. "Have fun!"

There we go guys! Post your arrivals and try out in one post! And have fun! People already on the team can just post their arrival and that's it.
First years, PM me to get approval. Do not expect an answer right away.

Carlotta watched, bemused at the antics of what she hoped would be her Quidditch captain. She hadn't played anything other than backyard Quidditch with her relatives, and so was slightly anxious about joining. But, she wasn't where she was today by backing down and never trying, so the Hufflepuff had trudged herself out here and was ready to go for any position that was available. And that happened to be Seeker. She fidgeted on the spot, giggling quietly to what she thought was a joke on Mason's part. She nodded at the instructions and got to work, collecting the necessary gear and mounting her broomstick.

She had keen eyes, but it took a moment for them to catch the golden glint of the snitch. She chased the object down around the pitch, swooping here and ducking there whilst others moved around with their own trials. She wasn't sure if there were other people trying out for seeker with one of the other snitches, but this one was her's and she was going to get it. She had a light sheen of sweat on her brow as she finally caught the snitch. And then it was time to rinse and repeat.

Lydia was glad for quidditch starting up again, and she wandered back on to the pitch, with a small smile on her face, quidditch would make everything better, everything was fine, but quidditch would make things better. The teen smiled as she walked on to the pitch and noticed that Mason was giving them the speech and not Scarlet, which he thought was pretty odd, but as long as they tried their best to win the quidditch cup, she wasn't going to be bothered by it, Mason was a good player. The keeper smiled as he spoke, just waiting for him to finish what he was saying before getting on her broom the moment they could and just flying up into the air, which was the best feeling in the world, the teen had practiced a lot during the holiday and was feeling pretty excited about the term of it, it would be one thing to fill all her spare hours.

Victoria was eager to get Quidditch going again. Last season hadn't lived up to the heights of their championship season and Victoria was hoping under their new captain they would recapture their past glory. The teen made her way down to the pitch clutching her broom in one hand and her club in the other. Once she made it onto the pitch she greeted her new captain. "Hey Mason, congrats on getting captain," She smiled at him before mounting her broom and taking a couple of laps before settling to watch the tryouts.

Charlotte made her way down to the Quidditch Pitch, looking forward to another year of Quidditch. She had gotten over the loss of last year, realising that you couldn't win every game - something Peter was sure to let her know. This was Charlottes last year in the school and she was determined to just have fun and not let the NEWTs get to her too much and Quidditch was definitely one of the outlets that she would have. Arriving on the pitch she was surprised to not see Scarlet but instead Mason was the new captain. "Congrats Mason." she said with a happy smile. Mason was always such a great player and she was sure he would be a great Captain. Soon enough try-outs began and Charlotte helped out where she could, enjoying the fun before the real work began.

While he had never been a player himself, Soren enjoyed Quidditch. He was an avid spectator, watching the previous Hufflepuff matches through a second-hand pair of omnioculars he had bought in Brightstone. One of the many lenses were chipped, and the slow-down function didn't work, but he could still appreciate its use all the same. When it came to physically playing the game itself, Soren found he adapted to very few of the positions. He lacked the physical strength to hit a bludger correctly with a beaters bat, or block a quaffle coming toward a hoop. It left him with two options, and even so, the boy wasn't fond of the idea of being a Chaser. Some of the opposing players were intimidating, and he didn't think believe he'd be particularly safe from foul play. That limited him to playing a Seeker. It was the most fun and less dangerous of the positions - merely trying to find and catch a small golden orb. He had practiced it the most, going so far as to paint his winged pet rock with a yellowish coat. Unfortunately, the boy only ever had a chance to practice when he was sure no one else was using the Quidditch Pitch, or in the semi-comfort of his home. In previous years, he'd always been terrified of the thought of having so many people watching him, judging him and his competence. For the first few years, he had been a clumsy flyer, but by now he finally become more confident in his capabilities.

Everything had changed once the boy received his Prefect badge by owl. It had come as a surprise - a pleasant one, but still a surprise. He hadn't been aware that the Head of House thought he was suited for the title. His father definitely hadn't. The moment Asbjorn found out, his already impossibly high expectations to achieve grew even higher. He'd been lectured and berated to prove himself more over the last winter break than any before, and it was in part why he decided to try out for Quidditch, after all this time. His father, the responsibility of being a Prefect, someone other people could look up to, even if he had never wanted anyone to notice him before, it all pushed him to at least try.

Warily, and with his winged pet rock, Flint, still sporting flecks of yellow paint in some places flying above his shoulder, Soren approached the Quidditch Pitch, his new Silver Streak held tightly in one hand. It wasn't the greatest of brooms, but it was the best he could afford. It had speed, and was capable of reaching higher altitudes than the Moontrimmer or Cleansweep. His father had, reluctantly, given him some galleons to help pay for it, all whilst of course scolding the teen for not having a job of his own for the holidays. It wasn't his fault that nowhere was hiring. His clammy palm slacked its hold on the broom, forcing him to swap hands, a sudden fear of his grip on it slipping mid-air. The Hufflepuff had spent a solid hour psyching himself up for the try-out, there was no backing out of it now.

Somehow, he, and practically every other attendee had managed to arrive before the house captain. The wait for the older boy did not do much to help Soren's nerves, and he breathed a small sigh of relief once he finally arrived. He liked Mason, despite having rarely, if at all spoken to him - not that Soren could really speak to anyone to begin with, but the captain was pleasant, and made a bigger fool of himself than Soren thought he ever could. It was a relaxing change, and the boy felt better knowing that the focus would be on Mason. He listened intently, chuckling quietly at the boy's jokes, until finally they were able to take to the skies. He informed the captain of the position he intended to try out for with a small flash card, before mounting his new broom and kicking off the ground. It was the first time he had willingly allowed himself to be with a group of people he barely knew, without the comforting presence of Des beside him, and the change scared him.

For a moment, Soren hovered on the spot, his nerves causing him to draw a blank of what he was supposed to be doing, until a flash of gold caught his attention. If there was one colour the hufflepuffs were attuned to, it was gold. Distracted from the uneasy feeling in the pit of his stomach, he steered the head of his Silver Arrow around, shooting off in the direction he'd seen the small orb disappear to. For the time being, the prefect forgot all about the other players on the field, and in no time at all he'd caught sight of the snitch once more, attempting to follow it as closely as he could. Its erratic movements in the air were frustrating, and Soren almost collided with a stray bludger in his pursuit, a situation that left him feeling as if his very soul had evacuated his body at the thought of it hitting him, yet once more, he found his target and refocused his attention, reaching out and just barely enclosing it within his hand. The fluttering of wings against his bare fingertips tickled, but he returned the snitch to the ground, arcing in the sky to return to pursuing another. With each successful capture, he felt his confidence rise, but some of the other students trying out for the same position looked older than he was. Still, he figured that didn't necessarily mean they were better. He got enough of his own private practice in to do well enough - better than he'd expected, and by the time the try-outs drew to an end, he touched to the ground with a small, pleased smile. He wasn't sure if he'd get the position, but his hopes were high.

Ares wasn't expecting much from these try-outs, all he hoped for was that he would actually maybe get to play this semester, being an alternate was a lot of fun in that it was less pressure to do well, but he wanted to do well, the boy wanted to score for his team and he wanted to do his best in the team. The teen arrived at the pitch with his broom in his hand, and looked to Mason, who was at the front of the crowd, he smiled easily at the man with a small grin as he explained what was going to happen. Ares assumed that he would never be as good as his brother who was the ravenclaw captain but he could assume that with more and more practice he would just get better and better at it. The boy assumed that would happen, so when they were allowed to, the boy grabbed his broom and flew up into the air, thankful that he didn't need to try out again and just be able to fly around for a little bit and get his skills back up to what they needed to be to play for the team.

Reuben might have realised his new Quidditch captain was late, except that he was late, too; the Hufflepuff panted and wheezed his way down to the pitch without so much as brushing his hair. Profuse apologies were made, but since he didn't have to try out again to assure himself a place on the team, it wasn't really a big deal. He caught his breath for a while, eventually returning to his usual height to cheer on those who were flying around in the air. This was going to be a good year - he could feel it.

I'm closing try outs later tonight so if you are interested, you better post now!
Even firsties!

Arnost Zhefarovich the second was late! He rushed to the field wearing his Hufflepuff Quidditch robes, carrying his amethyst streak down to the field. He was going to at least be an alternate since he wanted to be focusing on academics right now. He had a lot to catch up on, and his days with Fiona Smith, having decided that he wanted to marry her. But that was way in the future. Arnost caught up with the others and noticed that Mason was talking, and smiled when he made jokes. He also thought about practicing at least. He mounted his broom, taking his beater's bat in his hand and taking to the skies. He decided to help out where he could.
