Y23 Ravenclaw Quidditch Try-Outs

[Serenity Dion]

Serenity arrived early on the Quidditch Pitch, much earlier than she had too. Dressed in a pair of work out leggings, trainers and a baggy Ravenclaw hoodie with her hair in a high messy ponytail, sipping on her fruit juice that she had brought from the castle before making her way down, Serenity sat on the grass looking out on to the Quidditch Pitch. She had grown to love this place in the last 5 years at Hogwarts, which she was surprised about. She only joined the Quidditch team to make some friends only to, not only make friends, but find out she was a rather talented seeker and this year she was deemed with the honour of becoming the Captain, she couldn't believe it when she had been asked to take over the role but was more than happy to do so.

After day dreaming for a while she realised that she had better finish setting up. She lined up some of the school brooms for those who didn't have their own and brought out the box that contained the most important part of Quidditch: the Quaffle; bludgers and snitch. Once people started to gather she grabbed her clipboard and quill to take down peoples names and mark off who, from last years team, showed up.

"Morning guys!" she greeted them all with enthuasiam. "So to any new faces, welcome to Quidditch tryouts, my name's Serenity and I'm the Captain and seeker of this team. Today you will each be given the opportunity to show me what you got for your chance to join the team. Just come up to me, tell me your name and what position you're trying out for and then I'll provide you with what you need." she further explained what she expected from each position type in the tryouts. "Also, welcome to the old team. Thanks for taking your time to come down here today and lend a hand in helping the new guys." Without much ado she began the tryouts, watching each person and taking down notes. When it was over she thanked everyone and packed up, excited for what this year was going to bring.

Out of Character:

For everyone on the team last year, as long as you post in this thread you are guaranteed your position in the team. Everyone else, we can always use lots of players, so one post with your arrival and try out! Plus, some members might not even post, so the line up might change heavily! Previous team, if you want to help the others try out, go on ahead too! Alternates, if you want a spot that is not what you have, then you need to try out.

First years, you can PM me to approve before posting here. If I say no, you can defend your request. Below is the team, and the available positions.

[Blaine Matthias]

Blaine Matthias made his way down to the pitch which awaited for the Ravenclaw Try Outs. He needed to show up to guarantee his spot on the team. He thought that he would be better off with the team. He heard that he was passed over for Serenity when it came down to being a Captain, but Blaine was not emotionally able for that anyway. The pressure that he would be against Vladimir was definitely not in his favor. He made his way into the pitch and he gave a smile toward Serenity. "Congrats on becoming captain. Better you than me." He snorted as he looked toward the others that arrived, and saw many new faces. Well, some actually. He wondered who else would show up for the spots that opened up since Bryce and Rosie graduated. He'd lend a hand, if someone asked him for help that is.

[Lucas Chase]

There was only so much a person could ask for. Lucas Chase has finally given up on trying to move to another school. His parents were not budging, and he had to live with this. However, he could make the best of it if he only tried. And trying out for the Quidditch team would do the trick. He did not care what position he played, but he figured that being a chaser would be fun. After all, it did have the word Chase in it. Therefore, he would try that. And, there was a lot of action in there. It took skills to be a chaser, and Lucas believed that he had loads of talent just waiting to be discovered. He would gladly do this with all of his might, and he would be proud to be on a Quidditch team. Perhaps he should go professional one day. It would be fun for him. He could not wait. Lucas gathered up his shiny new equipment and robes. His broom was gorgeous too. Only the top of the line for him. He was really good at flying, so he did not suspect that he would fail this. No, he would become the best chaser on the team.

Arriving to the pitch, the light brown haired boy approached the captain, who was a female, "Lucas Chase. I am trying out for chaser." Lucas heard the instructions before swinging his leg over the broom. He soared up into the air, and did a quick lap as a warm up. He never flew this broom before, so it was new to him. But it controlled like a dream. He was handed a quaffle, and he went to try his luck with the hoops, and the keeper trying out. His determination was through the ceiling. He could do this! He soared toward the hoops, dodging players as he did so. He wanted to yell for them to get out of his way, but he kept his big mouth shut. He hurled it toward the hoop, and to his pleasure, it went right on through. He retrieved the quaffle, and continued to try out. He scored multiple times, but he did see the keeper catch a lot of his attempts too. He was not keeping score. He landed when the try outs concluded. He threw his broom over his shoulder and walked with pride off the pitch, almost expecting to be on the team now.​

 

[Zach Jordan]

When Zach saw the list of remaining players on the team roster he made the decision that he would tryout for a new position. From the list of available positions he had decided he would tryout for Keeper. He ate breakfast with the rest of the team the morning of the tryouts before grabbing his broom from the tower and heading down to the pitch. When he entered the stadium he headed over the new captain, ""Congrats on making captain Serenity, I'll be trying out for Keeper," He nodded and headed over to the rest of the hopefuls. When it was Zach's turn to tryout he mounted his broom and flew up to the hoops and hovered in front of the middle hoop. Chasers took it in turns to try and score passed him. The first chaser threw the quaffle down towards the hoop to Zach's left, he pulled his broom up and spun to his left to bat the quaffle away. Zach could barely contain his excitement as he made his first save as he flew back to his central position. Zach managed to save the next too attempts at goal, the first was an attempt to round him and drop it into the central hoop, the chaser would have scored had not been for the bristles of Zach's broom. The second was back towards the left hoop, Zach almost fell of his broom streching to knock away the quaffle with his fingertips. Zach was brimming with confidence when the chaser stepped up for his fourth attempt, he thought he had read it right but Zach pulled to defend the hoop on the right while the quaffle slammed into the left hoop. The final shot sent Zach diving to the side while the quaffle went into the middle hoop. Zach returned to the ground resonably satisfied with his tryout and hopeful he would gain the spot.

 

[Ulysses Viteri]

Ulysses hurried down to the field, realizing he was running late for the team's try-outs. He was holding his brand new broom, a gift from his muggle parents for his birthday. Despite the peculiarity of his request, Ulysses got the much desired broom after having to explain that it was a racing broom and not the one used for sweeping. The Ravenclaw was going to try his flying skills but he had never played a Quidditch game before. A book from the library had illuminated him with the nature of the particular sport, its rules and posts. Ulysses had used to play football and he was quite good as a goalkeeper. This had made him believe that the job of the Keeper was going to be more suitable for him. He finally entered the pitch and arrived at the center to join the group of Ravenclaws.

He spotted the girl who was the teams captain and approached her to announce himself. "Hello! I'm Ulysses Viteri. I would like to try-out as a Keeper, maybe a Chaser too." he said, not dismissing any alternative options. He mounted his broom before speeding off in the direction of others. First he had to finish the three laps around the pitch which he did on top speed. He completed the third lap balancing on broom while keeping his hands away from the handle. After the warm-up he joined a couple of other students who needed a third one to form a Chasers triangle and practice together. He did joined them and found out he was good with passing the Quaffle between his team players. He attempted to score a few times but he only succeeded once after coming to close to the goal post. Then he requested to switch positions with the Keeper and test his skills in blocking the Quaffle. Ulysses had amazing reflexes. He was swiftly sweeping up or down, flying backwards, stop and hover depending on his team players' attempt to score. He did block most of their shots by securing the Quaffle in his arms or deflecting it away with a thrust of his fists or a swing of his broom's brush.

 

[Isaiah Jeffreys]

Isaiah was more than happy to have returned to Hogwarts for another year. He was excited about everything that was currently happening. It helped that he was part of the quidditch team and also taking elective classes which to him were endless curious. He was so excited really. he couldn't wait to get started on them. Happily he had his broom in hand and was heading towards the pitch for the Ravenclaw try-outs. The ravenclaw was excited for another year. he'd been on the team since his first year and was excited for the new captain and for a new possibility of winning. They had a great team, they really did, which was the best thing. He was really loving the idea of being able to help bring victory. He was looking forward to trying his best. Stepping on to the pitch he looked towards Serenity, she really deserved this position, he was incredibly happy for her. In her for getting it. Isaiah listened as she spoke and nodded along. Keen to really just get started. He got up onto the broom and then smiled happily. Working towards practicing and giving some of the others a little bit of a hand as and when they required it.

[Gabriel Black]

Gabriel was entering into his sixth year at Hogwarts. Things had changed pretty dramatically for Gabe in the last year, and it wasn't even anything he had done. His mother had taken a hiatus at the school, which meant she was not around. The biggest change was that his brother had been elected the Minister for Magic for New Zealand. Gabriel was trying to adjust to the idea. It was so strange. Gabriel was glad he at least had Quidditch to keep him sane. The sixth year smiled as he entered the pitch to watch tryouts. He went to join his teammates.
