While Zayne Baros was getting ready, he was pretty stoked about this year when it came to him and Kaia. He had something huge planned, but he just needed the right time. And then there was the added thing where he was named Co-Captain with the other beater, Isabella. The former captain for many years led the Slytherin team to glory with the cup, but could he and the other Isabella do the same? If he could get along with the other Isabella, since she seemed a bit of a hot-head. But Zayne did not mind at all. Holding his broom in his hand, he made his way down to the Quidditch pitch, where he waited for the other Slytherins that were interested to come forth. Once they had, he gave one curt nod to the other captain before he smiled and greeted the potential team, "So, just say your name, and then the position you are trying out for. I'll keep a tab of who will be doing what on a little sheet of parchment. Then for the chasers, I would like for you to grab a quaffle from the pile that I made for you. Keepers, I want you to go to the hoops and guard them. From the seekers, there are a couple of snitches flying around. Just catch them. And alternate beaters, since Isabella and I are the team Beaters, just guard the team from the bludgers." Zayne held out the sheet of parchment, and he looked up at the team go.
OOCOut of Character: Instructions
Just state your arrival and your try out into one. Make it creative. If your student has questions feel free to post them here, and I will have Zayne answer to them accordingly.
*First years that might be interested, you can only post if there are not enough people on the team. I'll post in here once more to let everyone know if it is okay for a first year to try out, after they have contacted one of the Captains.

Albie had never played Quidditch before, but he hoped that wouldn't matter too much. He'd splurged and bought a fancy broomstick and a care pack for it, and he was determined to put it to good use. After all, he'd played in under-15s rugby for Pretoria, not to mention he was a pretty decent cricketer. How hard would Quidditch be to pick up?

Of course, he'd spent a decent amount of time practicing flying the moment he'd gotten to the school, and while he'd had a fair bit of trouble picking it up at first, he soon got the hang of it and could fly quite well, if he did say so himself. And of course, he'd read up on the rules of Quidditch, and while he may not have used the Quidditch equipment yet, he'd practiced with a football. His throwing arm was pretty good and he thought he'd make an alright chaser, provided they'd let him on the team. Hopefully there wasn't any nepotism in play and that everyone would get a fair go.

Once one of the captains introduced themselves (or well, did a pretty mediocre job at actually introducing himself - not that Albie would say anything), he stepped forward and nodded at the two captains. "Albie Vermeulen. Albertus, really, but just go with Albie. I'm here to be one of your new Chasers." He grinned, slyly, before picking up a quaffle, mounting his broom and zooming up in to the air.

Not being used to flying, it still took Albie a moment to adjust to the height and the velocity of the broom. When he'd played sport, it was all on the ground. This was quite odd. Not necessarily bad, and not something he didn't think he could handle, just...odd.

"Alright. Laat gaan." he whispered, getting a solid grip on the Quaffle before racing off to the other end of the pitch, where a Keeper was getting set up. Grinning, Albie hurtled towards the keeper, before veering off to a hoop to the side, chucking the ball through. "Goal." The keeper shook their head, while Albie darted off to grab the quaffle, looping around the pitch before taking another go at the goals. This time, the keeper was more prepared, ready to move with a split second's notice. And as Albie tried to pull the same stunt, the keeper knew what to do, and safely caught the quaffle as Albie threw it to the side.

"Goeie. Very good. You learn fast." He caught the quaffle as it was thrown to him and hurtled down the pitch again, this time, his tactics changing. Turning around, he zigzagged towards the goalposts, in an effort to confuse the keeper. And with precice, split second timing and decision making, he aimed at one goalpost...and then spun away, throwing and scoring at the right hand goalpost. Albie smirked, racing around for the quaffle.

"Sorry. Just having some fun with you."

He took a few more runs at the goal - giving a few easier shots for the keeper (usually just tossing the ball to them to give them catching practice) - making more complicated and harder shoots in order to actually shoot at the goal. Which he usually made. He learned quickly, after all.

Touching down on the ground, Albie nodded at the captains, touching his forehead in a mock salute. "Thank you for your time."

Myuna was enjoying the freedom of the castle. It was good to be able to do things and not have her grandma or dad hanging over her shoulder. though it was sort of a shame that they weren't, taking the skateboard on the paths in the garden wasn't as fun now she wasn't constantly being told not to do it. she was sure that once things actually started to settle down she would get the urge to break more rules though, that was just who she was. being a new student she felt a little bit like she was sinking as those her age were already used to the castle, or at least they could get to the great hall without getting to lost, and those who were in her situation were five years her junior. it shouldn't take her too long to get used to things.
Today she was running across the lawn a sure she would be a little late for her quidditch try outs. she liked sport and it seemed that quidditch was the only real sport played here. she had her mums old broom over her shoulder, though she would make her dad buy her a new one f she got on the team. there was one boy there who seemed to be in charge she went over to him. "hey. I'm Myuna Kickett and I was going to try out for beater" she said taking one of the school bats and taking to the air.
She was a good build for beater, quite stocky build and her surfing and swimming meant she was pretty strong. she gave the bat a swing at the air to get a feel for it before shooting off after one of the bludgers that was heading towards a girl who she thought seemed to be trying for chaser. thwack the ball went flying in the opposite direction. then she went after another one that was aiming towards a seeker. she was a little closer to missing it this time but it glanced off her bat towards the edge of the pitch. smiling she did so. she saw a bludger hanging around quite low. she dived for it like a seeker would the snitch bus a little to the side. as she levelled out she hit it straight up in the air getting t back in play. she was quite enjoying this. the next one she saw was near the goals. she hit it out onto the pitch not noticing that there was a couple of chasers heading her way she pelted it outwards again. at the yelp se looked to see the chasers had dodged it, or at least hadn't been hit too badly but been surprised and dropped the ball. "my bad" she shouted to them before flying off again. she continued like this until it was time to come in. she landed and nodded at the boy. "thanks" she said and turned to leave wondering if the lake would be warm enough to swim in. to cool down as she did have her bathers on underneath her clothes like she always did, but she decided that she would probably need a wetsuit.

Yes, the tryouts were on. With her gear in place Artemis Jackson walked in the Quidditch Pitch with a slight frown. Her head had been joking around with her ever since the early morning, giving her occasional minor headaches. It had been disturbing initially and going to the Hospital Wing seemed to be the best option for the day. However after eating her first meal the headache had become dull enough to suffer with and Artemis knew it will pass in a matter of sixty minutes the most. The newly appointed Slytherin prefect looked up, eager to see who was promoted to replace Isabella Dragonov, their former Slytherin Quidditch Captain who led their team to victory last year. She recognized them immediately and granted them one subtle genuine smile. "Congratulations," murmured Artemis softly for only both of them to hear. She walked to the side and there she took a break to examine her broom whilst waiting for any more Slytherins to join them. She recalled the petty argument she had with an older student of the Slytherin house. Her broom was unfortunate to be part of the agitated conversation but then it had happened anyways. It was not like Artemis could do anything about creating a new annoyance.

As more students came to view, Artemis knew that the tryouts for year seventeen would start anytime now. A deep voice called out to all of them and that automatically drew the blonde near the person speaking. It was finally time to start the tryout session. She waited for her turn to speak up. Some new faces had finally decided to join them which posed more competition. The moment came when it was Artemis' turn to state her desired position. "Artemis Jackson, trying for Keeper." Artemis proceeded to find a space where she could mount her broom properly. Once done with her search, she shot into the air easily and noticed that the dull ache was still harboring the corners of her mind. Never mind that, the tryouts still needed to push through. Plus, the cool wind was helping to cease it. It calmed her but then she remembered that this would not be a peaceful ride on her broom. The tryouts were just like an actual game save for the fact that the opponents were less - they were her housemates after all. Artemis zoomed over to one side of the Pitch where a set of hoops could be found. It was game time now and her senses were all alerted for any Bludgers and [especially] Quaffles that were coming.

It was steady at first. Some trying out for Chaser were pretty decent in Artemis' opinion. There were Chasers in the other side of the Pitch, as well as on Artemis' side. The wind only screeched in her ears when she needed to block the rings which were quite often if she had to say. But even if there were a few shots that she missed, her points in successfully blocking were definitely higher. Her skill in guarding was still intact, thank Merlin, although Artemis was caught off guard when a new face managed a goal. She snapped her head right towards his direction and pursed her lips in attempt to keep herself silent. He was ultimately cocky which irked her. What a teammate he would be if ever the captains choose him as Chaser. The fifth year ignored him and started to look out for more Quaffles which were surely on the way. She blocked them successfully and was glad that a Beater was able to whack a Bludger away from her. The tryouts were done before she knew it and Artemis flew to a ring to save it but because she was distracted, she let the scarlet ball shoot through. Artemis dove and looked at the captains, hoping that their decision for appointing the new team of Slytherin for Year 17 would be talked about thoroughly. With a small nod of farewell towards the captain, she walked away from the Pitch hoping to get a good shower.

Isabella Pisces was surprised to have been given the chance to be a Quidditch Co-captain alongside Zayne. It isn't like she was the friendliest teammate out there. In fact, most of the time she made a point to ruin the lives of even those on her team if they pissed her off enough. So far most of them were smart enough to leave her be. For that, she left them alone as well. Though there was one, or rather a group of people out there that didn't seem to care whether or not she was serious or not. The writers of the RHI magazine. They had been quiet for the longest time but Isabella wondered if they were waiting for something. "Hey." Isabella muttered to her co-captain as she stood next to him. She was a little bit late so there wasn't much need for her to say anything. Chances were that he had already given all the information that they needed for the tryouts. Isabella folded her arms over her chest and let her blue eyes drift over to the other players. She still had doubts that she could be a decent captain. But she was going to give it her all. There was no way she was going let anyone else have this captain position without at least even the smallest fight back from Isabella. "Have at it guys." Isabella told those who were planning to try out. Hopefully some newbies would decide to try out as well. To replace those that had Graduated or transferred out.

This year, Kailie prayed that she would not be made alternate. She was an official chaser the previous year, so this year might not be different. She had faith in her skills, and how she had helped the team to victory time and time again. She smiled a bit at her reflection with her blonde hair tied back, emerald green uniforms, and a solid streak to match. She sighed and walked down to the pitch to see who the captain, or captains, were. She had no idea, and hoped that it wouldn't be someone that got on her nerves. Kailie entered the pitch to see just who the captains were. One of them was the Isabella she had befriended in her first year, and the other was the prefect that seemed too nice. Didn't Hades hate him or something? She didn't know or care. She strolled up to them and she said in a soft voice, "Kailie Styx. Trying for chaser." She did not really want any other position on the team. Chaser was the most active, and she believed that to be her calling. So it was being a chaser. She knew how to handle one, and she was pretty skillful at making the goals. She walked over to the pile of quaffles, and she took one. Holding it under her arm, she mounted her broom and she took to the skies.

The fourth year looked around to see who else was trying out for the chaser position. Hopefully no one that she had a major competition with. She doubted that anyone would really take her spot anyway. Even if she wasn't on the team, it was not like she was going to go to her father and get him to change it. For one, she was not like that at all, since she was not a brat, and two, her father would not even care. She narrowed her eyes at the keeper, and she sped forward, her icy blue eyes looking for a way to score. Kailie continued to fly forward, and she tossed the quaffle toward the hoop, but it was blocked successfully. She simply nodded, since the keeper was pretty good. She caught the quaffle and she circled around to try once more. Kailie continued to try to score, and she did not get blocked that often, but she made a few good shots as well. She thought that with this, she would be getting on the team one way or another. Her skills were good enough anyway. She had been on the team since she was a second year, which seemed so long ago. Kailie noticed that it was time for the try outs to end, and she landed on the ground with ease. She smiled to the captains, something that would not happen much. She left the pitch to go do something, but she didn't know what to do. Perhaps she would go get something to eat. That sounded better than just sulking around or practicing spells.

OOCOut of Character:
Okay guys, we need one chaser, and one seeker.
Come on guysss, we need more people posting! First years are welcome! Try outs are ending today.

Viola sat beside the pitch and watched the try outs with interest. Flying was her favorite thing in the world and she would love to be on the team even if she’d never actually played Quidditch. When everybody had finished their try outs and the prefect asked for any last calls Viola stood up, before realizing it herself, and raised her arm. Yes she was a first year. But if they were missing someone for the team and she was there… She hoped that they wouldn’t say no and that she could have a go at it. “I want to try out to be on the team!” she said with a firm voice as she headed down to the pitch. She was a rather thin girl with blond hair in a strict ponytail and shining blue eyes.

She asked herself several times on her way down why she was doing this. “I’m Viola Wilkes and I want to have a go to be a seeker.” She said confidently. She had one of the schools brooms, the one she’d already befriended before. She saw some laughing, she would show them. She mounted the broom and took off when she got permission to do so. 'Wow, this was high up.' As she rose off the ground she could feel the life within her and she took a deep breath in the fresh air.

Well up in the sky she started to look out for snitches. ‘How many of you might it be?’ She had never in her life caught one before. She’d not been flying a lot at home either and she’d not been flying too much in school just yet. She wobbled a little from time to time when being still in the air. This seemed to her like she would most definitely fail. A feeling she would never admit to anyone. Never.

She was now far up above the pitch when she saw a glint of gold a few feet down in the other half of the pitch. She dived rather quickly and avoided a bludger in the process. Well on her go she didn't wobble as much. She could in fact do this with her eyes closed as long as she stayed focused. She reached out for the snitch as she was taking in on it with more speed. Suddenly another snitch flied just in the corner of her eyes. She kept her eyes on the snitch in front of her while her hand carefully traveled through air to get the snitch to her right. She cruised her broom to her right but the snitch fled off in another direction. ‘Well it’s not over ‘til it’s over.’

Viola concentrated on the one in front of her instead. Her flying got better and better, she could even stop suddenly in one moment and in the next dive or rise. There could be three or seven or ten. She wouldn’t lose one just because she saw another snitch flying more easily grasped. She made a loop after the flying gold and after a few grasping’s in the air she made it and caught it. She was happy with that. After some good flying skills she managed to catch another one before her tryout was over.

She felt that she’d done the best that she could, and was just happy with the fact that she’d completed her first tryout. She smiled at the captain and then left the broom where she got it and headed back to the castle.

Chad Aria strutted down to the Quidditch Pitch, feeling confident and looking good. He had made the team last year and was confident he'd make it again this year.
"Chad Aria, you probably remember me from last year." Chad smirked confidently. "I'll be trying for my spot of chaser again."
The young Slytherin kicked off the ground and flew into the sky. The holidays hadn't given him much chance to practise or fly, and he had missed the feeling of being on a broom. He did a quick loop around the pitch getting back into the groove before he joined the rest of the Chasers trying out. He stuck close to them, knowing that team work was essential for them to win. Chad finally got the Quaffle passed to him, and he held it close to his chest. Zooming along the pitch, he threw the ball to another team mate before quickly rolling under his broom to miss a bludger. Getting comfortable on his broom again, Chad quickly caught up with the Quaffle, catching it easily when it was passed to him. The hoops were getting close, the Slytherin boy heaved all his weight into the throw, praising himself to see it go in. The try-outs continued for awhile, Chad scoring a few more, but also missing some; a very bitter-sweet moment.
By the end of the try-outs, Chad was confident he had done well enough to secure himself a spot on the team. He winked at Kailie and at Isabella thanking his luck to be on such an attractive team.
