Thomas had thought for a long time about this step that he wanted to take, and therefore, in order to implement it, he had to go to his father to ask for something that was necessary for the implementation of the plan. After his studies, Thomas apparition to America, but of course before that he had warned his father that he would come to him. He had also warned Allison that he would be a bit later than usual, but didn't mention the real reason why. He wanted to take such a step for a long time, but he knew it was still too early before that, and yet now the boys have grown up, so the time has come. He decided it was finally time to propose to Allison, so Thomas needed his mother's engagement ring to do so.
As soon as he came home to his father, Thomas rang the doorbell and hoped that he would already be home from work and would not have to wait for him in the company of his stepmother. Therefore he began to become impatient at the door, when it would open and who would open it.
