Winnie knew that every year of her schooling was important, but this was undoubtedly about to be the most important of them. She was a fourth year, and she knew her parents expected her, by her fifth year to have managed to become a prefect. There was so much riding upon it, and she wasn't sure how to ensure that she would get it. Winnie had come into the great hall, it was a little after lunch and she sat down at the slytherin table, she took out her books and placed them down, but she wasn't concentrating that much on them, more just thinking of ways to make sure she was on the head of houses radar for the position.

Aiya didn't really care to attend school, and she felt as though the break was a little short. At least now she was no longer amongst the youngest group of students. The Slytherin sat at the table for lunch, staring at her plate of scrambled eggs in front of her. She wasn't really hungry, and just wished she was back home hanging out with her family. She admittedly missed them whilst she was at Hogwarts, and writing to them was most certainly not enough. At least she had her older cousin for one more year until he left. She was thinking about going to find him until an older girl sat at the table next to her, spreading out her books and studying. "Aren't you afraid you'll get food on your books?" she asked, wondering if the girl cared. If she was studious enough, surely she cared about her books. "Why don't you go to the library?"

Winnie glanced at the girl who sat next to her, and then looked down at the books, to the table which was largely devoid of food. "I'm not, they're just books, and with magic they can be cleaned and fixed," she replied easily, because magic made the risk of permanently damaging a book much much lower. "Library's busy at the beginning of the year when everyone has high aspirations of what they'll do with the year," she added. "You do realise you're late for lunch," she then shot back at the girl though thought she maybe shouldn't if she was trying to be in the good graces of students and professors.

Aiya wished she knew how to clean things with magic. They were yet to learn that spell, but she knew that it was coming up soon. She nodded as the older girl said the library would be busy. "I mean, you could always study in your dormitory. That way you won't have people like me disturbing you." she said a little passive aggressively, but with a smile. She knew the girl was annoyed that she had spoken to her, but Aiya didn't really care. As she said she was late for lunch, Aiya smiled sarcastically again. "Good, because I'm not hungry anyway."

Winnie narrowed her eyes at the girl, before shaking her head, "I never said you were disturbing me," she replied, since she hadn't though she certainly did think it. She glanced back at her books at least with someone there she could probably concentrate a little better on the book. "Oh good," she replied without looking up, not opting to ask any further questions about it.

Aiya pursed her lips as the older girl said she wasn't disturbing her. "Well, it certainly seems like it. What's a person got to do to make friends around here?" Aiya scoffed a little. How did people expect her to make friends when no one wanted to talk to her? She had been at the school for almost a year and a half and she still didn't consider anyone a friend. It was really quite sad.

Winnie glanced back at the girl and frowned a little. She was younger, so maybe it would be a good thing, a way to get into the good graces of professors, especially if she was looking to be a prefect. "It can been hard, despite the fact you spend a lot of time with people, it can be hard to make friends," she replied, trying to be a little more friendly with her tone. "You're a second year right?" she hazard a guess.

Aiya raised her eyebrows a little as the older girl spoke to her again. It was a little friendlier this time, and Aiya was taken slightly taken aback by this. She was flattered that someone was able to relate to her not being able to make any friends, and nodded as the older girl asked if she was a second year. "Yes, I've been here for a whole year and I'm still not able to make any friends." she said with a little bit of a frown. She didn't want the older girl to feel sorry for her, but it was simply the truth.

Winnie gave a little nod as the girl explained that she hadn't made a single friend. "How are you trying to make friends?" she asked, perhaps a little bluntly. "I mean like clubs and stuff," she was quick to explain, since she didn't want to accuse her of being friendless because she wasn't good at approaching people.
