The one annoying thing about lessons during third year (apart from all the other annoying things about lessons during third year), was that Rory no longer had the same timetable as the majority of her friends. Apart from Hayley, every single one of her other friends were Gryffindors, and while for the past two years they'd been like built-in entertainment for her in each class, now they were all split up between electives and the subjects they'd dropped. Which was fine, mostly. It just meant that Rory was spending more time alone at lunch than she had grown used to. Which was fine, too, mostly. But it sure would be easier to reach food sitting further up the table if she had a chain of friends to elbow into passing it down towards her. Rory continued to eye the chicken pieces laid out for sandwiches as if she could bring them closer to her with just her mind, but of course that was never going to get her any closer to eating.

Before giving up completely on retrieving the plate without having to stand up, however, Rory switched her attention to the people sitting nearby, and to her relief, saw the solution to her problem. "Hey - Sofia. Can you pass me the chicken just there beside you, please? It's taunting me." She pressed her hands together in imitation of a prayer before opening them up again and reaching a hand across the table expectantly. "How have you been, anyway? How's Sweden? Or did you go somewhere else for the holidays?" Despite sharing the same room for the last two years, Rory still didn't talk to the other girl very much, but was quite happy to do so whenever the opportunity presented itself. Like now. She didn't want to just use Sofia as a chicken delivery service, after all.

Sofia wasn't having the time of her life on Hogwarts. She felt the need to make friends, but also had a great fear of losing the people you loved. A conflict with yourself and it was hardest thing the blonde thought. It was time for some lunch so the blonde went to the Great Hall and have some food. She was a bit hungry and would die for a sandwich. As she entered she walked over to the Gryffindor table and went sitting there. She noticed Rory but didn't bother to say anything yet. She tried to be nice to her roommates, but talking to girls wasn't something the blonde really liked. Mostly they just annoyed her and wanted all the attention, so the blonde grabbed a sandwich and took a bite. Than a bit later Rory asked if she could pass the chicken. Ofcourse a way to talk to her, but the blonde did as she was asked to do ofcourse and gave it to Rory that seemed to want to take a big bite of it. The blonde took another bite of her sandwich and than Rory started to talk to her. It wasn't that bad maybe, she wanted to have a friend who was a girl, but it would become difficult she knew. It was kind of nice of Rory to ask her she thought. '' Stayed in Sweden, it was nice with almost the whole family. And you?'' Ofcourse the Davenport clan was missing, they broke contact because of a family fight. Everyone hated the Davenport clan. The Swedish blonde waited for Rory to answer, and took another bite of a delicious sandwich

Rory took the plate of chicken happily, and set about constructing herself a sandwich with all sorts of sauces and even a bit of salad in it. She was being healthy, wouldn't that make her mother proud if she could see. "Oh, cool," she replied to Sofia while she made her sandwich. "I was here again, boring old New Zealand. My family never goes anywhere fun." She smiled though, it wasn't really a complaint she felt too strongly about. "So how have you been?" She paused to take a bite of her sandwich, and even managed to chew and swallow most of it before continuing to talk. "It's still kind of early in the year, so Rose and the rest of us haven't done anything too exciting yet - we snuck out and played truth or dare the other night though, that was fun." She wasn't too sure if Sofia would be interested in hearing about that, but Rory always tended to talk until she had nothing left to say. Suddenly worried that mentioning it might make the other girl feel excluded, though, Rory added, "Hey, next time do you think you would play if we asked?" She knew Sofia was friendly with Rose, at least.
