Juniper was tired after a day of classes but she'd also been summoned to the courtyard by Professor Adler, not being one defy authority she awkwardly more or less waddled her way to the courtyard. This time she had no doubt this meeting was abut the fact that she'd left the class with teary eyes and a proper haunted expression. It was just, she got scared easily and things like that? Yeah they were bound to haunt her for a good while. She just hoped the Professor wouldn't be angry with her, she was nice so Juni was fairly certain that wouldn't be the case. She noticed the blonde already there and walked towards her a little skittishly. "You wanted to see me professor?" Juniper said in a small voice, hoping the wind wouldn't carry the words with it.

@Professor Geovanna Adler-Cade

Geo had been lucky enough to meet Juniper before their first lesson, so by the time she was teaching her in class, the woman felt as though she already had an inkling as to her personality. That helped, because it meant that when she seen the first year crying in her second lesson, Geo could understand that the lesson was likely overwhelming for her. She'd already been nervous that day at the lake, so she had no doubt that hearing about the darkest wizards of their age would put her even more on edge.

"Juniper!" Professor Adler smiled, glad that she'd come out to meet her. "Figured it would be better to meet out here than in the office," she said, the cool sun still high enough in the sky that autumn hadn't kicked in properly yet. "Besides, not like it's my office, is it?" She'd done what she could to make sure not to move any of Professor Waldgrave's things and hoped whoever had taken her place at Ilvermorny had kept her office tidy too. In Geo's hands she held two steaming mugs, "Do you prefer tea or hot chocolate?" she asked. She hadn't known which an eleven-year-old would rather, so she'd brought both, happy to have whichever Juniper didn't.

Juniper stared at the woman, a little dumbfounded. She'd known the Professor was kind but now she was sat here with two mugs waiting for her. It took Juniper a moment to even fully comprehend everything that had been said as she just stared down at the mugs, tears already beginning to well up in her eyes from the warm feeling of appreciation. She was a bit sad of the reminder that Professor Adler was here as a substitute so chances of her being around next year were low.

"I-" She began with an unstable voice. Clearing her throat she tried again. "I'll take hot chocolate, please?" The Hufflepuff said as more of a question, she wouldn't mind the tea either and didn't want to take the option the Professor might have more preferred herself.

"Careful, it's hot," Geo passed Juniper the mug with the hot chocolate, glad the little marshmallows that bobbed on the surface hadn't completed melted yet. She pulled the sleeves of her sweater down her arm a little, cupping her own mug as to keep her fingers warm while taking the first sip. "How are you finding classes at the moment?" She asked. Of course, she had an idea of how she was finding Defense Against the Dark Arts, but she was curious to know if she was having similar experiences in her other classes too.

Juniper took the mug happily, glancing down at it. She made sure to not take a a sip yet, not wanting to burn her mouth. "Um, well Astronomy is nice, though its very late. I do try to take naps on those days but it's still weird and dark and scary..." She explained glancing towards the woman nervously. "The stars are pretty though." She added with a small smile. "Potions is okay but I really miss Herbology." It had admittedly been her favourite subject so far and probably would remain so. "You classes are a bit scary though," Juniper said nervously, hoping she wouldn't offend the kind Professor.

Geo nodded, wondering what it was about Astronomy that Juniper found scary. Did she not like the dark at all, or was it more because of the idea of space and the unknown? "What is it you liked so much about Herbology?" Geo asked, curious to know what she'd consider as the positive traits. Geo didn't mind Herbology at school, but it was never her favourite. The woman nodded as Juniper admitted her own classes were scary, although a small smile appeared on her face as she could only imagine what it would have been like if Professor Styx was still teaching instead. "That's okay, my classes don't have to be your favourite, I just want to make sure that everyone who sits in my lessons are as prepared as they possibly can be!" Whether that was for James' class or not, some students would drop the subject after second year and so if that was all the time she had to help them to protect themselves, she had to make the most of it. The blonde leaned backwards a little, resting her butt on the stone wall behind her. "How are you feeling about your Charms?" she asked, wondering if she was confident using her wand.

Juniper took a sip of her drink, humming softly at the cloudy liquid with rich chocolate flavour. Considering the question she looked ahead of her. "I have always liked the world around me. i have always felt connected to nature and the earth. Back at home I loved going to the beach and help my mama collect seashells for her designs." She explained, the mention of home still sending a pang of longing, but it wasn't as strong as it had been a few months back. "I think everything around us is alive, they have their own sort of minds. Maybe not to the extent we do but the plants around us, say that tree," She pointed at the big tree sat on the courtyard. "I'd like to think its seen and heard a lot. Probably just heard, but you know it's stood there for however long. It has to know a lot of things by now." She glanced at it once more, wondering what secrets it harbored. "I also like plants because they often remind me that you need a little rain to bloom." It might have been silly, childish even to think so. But that was what she was, just a child figuring it out in this world.

Juniper nodded, it was good to be prepared. "Charms? Like the subject?" She asked. "I had it last semester, it was a little unnerving using real magic but much like you I liked the Professor so it was less scary. I think I got the hang of it." She explained before taking another sip.
