It was early in the morning and Willow had picked up a copy of the daily prophet that some older student had left on the table in the great hall. the headline had caught her attention and she wanted to read it. usually, the newspaper was not appealing to her but todays was personal to her, it was folded in half so she only got half of it wereolf... sentenced... in Azk... it didn't take a genius to finish the last word to that of the famed wizard prison Azkaban. She checked that it was no ones before heading out to the garden. if this was what she thought it was she didn't want to be in the great hall when she read it.
She wandered between the flower beds before stopping by the willow tree and sitting against its trunk she unfolded the paper. she didn't know that this particular willow tree was actually the entrance to the howling cavern. she just had a liking for willows. she unfolded the paper.
Werewolf hunters sentenced to life in azkaban.
she wasn't sure if she should be relieved that the hunters had been caught and sentenced to life, or if she should be worried that they were ever out there and that there might be more like them. her thoughts went out to her parents. they had different views on the world. her dad was cautious and reserved staying out of other peoples way as much as possible. whereas her mum was a fire that blazed bright and people couldn't help but pay attention to if they wanted to or not. one thing that they had in common was that they were both werewolves. another thing the had in common was that she didn't know what she would have done if anything would happen to them.

Regardless of how much she had going on, Geo always had time for her early morning run. She kept it up almost every other day, and during the half an hour before breakfast that she had she would frequently run with Ursula, outside where she could just be herself without worrying about what she had to do that day. On this occasion she'd been by herself, unable to track down her Ravenclaw running buddy, but had enjoyed a few laps around the Hogwarts garden nonetheless. Quidditch had its place in her heart, the thrill of being up in the air and in competition with other houses, but being able to make use of her natural strengths whilst de-stressing in the trees would always be a favourite.

She was about to head back up to the castle, catching her breath as she walked, when she spotted a younger girl sat at the base of a large tree. There was nothing overly unusual about this except for the girls hair, a bright red that shown like a beacon to anyone looking in her direction, something she was once all too familiar with. For the last six months or so, Geo had been blonde, the mental strength required to keep up the vivid pink hue in her own hair too much trouble now that she had more going in at school. "I love your hair," she stated with a grin, taking a few steps towards the girl. She didn't know her but that was no surprise, there were many people in the castle she'd yet to meet. Glancing down it looked as though she was reading the paper, although why she'd come out here to read it was anyone's guess. "Anything interesting in there today?" she asked, suddenly a little nervous that something had happened in the wizarding world that she was yet to know about it. As much as she loved Hogwarts, she hoped that if something did go down, she would be graduated and trained by that point, and able to help whatever issues their kind faced.

willow looked up as she heard someone speak. she was so lost in thought that she had almost forgotten where she was. but a girl walked over to her and complimented her about her hair. It wasn't naturally that shade of red. sure she was naturally a redhead but this vivid shade required a combination of muggle hair dye and magic dyes to maintain. "Umm, thank you" she said as the girl said that she loved her hair, she wasn't sure what else to say, returning a compliment would just sound insincere. did you have a good run?" she asked she had been on a few early morning runs but not at the school. sure they were good and left you feeling energised. but she just could not motivate herself to get up and out that early.
at the mention of the newspaper, she quickly glanced at the back cover, "the Macaws beat the thunderers," she said, the macaws were her favourite team, and the thunderers were the rivals of her second favourite team, the warriors. so all up a great result for her. But I was reading about the werewolf hunters that had the trial over the holidays, the verdict has just been published." she said. it was clear that it was a topic that she cared about, maybe it was an unusual topic for a twelve-year-old to be especially interested in, but it was a topic that had always been dinner conversation growing up, well not werewolf hunters, but werewolf rights. What was not quite so clear was her opinion on the subject and the verdict.

"Oh, yeah, thanks." Geo liked to run and it was rare that it didn't do the trick of helping her relieve stress of the week. She frowned when she heard about the Thunderers though. James was on that team, along with a few of the other graduates. It wasn't like him not to catch the snitch before someone else although the Hufflepuff did suppose he was playing professionally now. Before she could say anything though the girl explained that the verdict of the werewolf hunters had been published. Even though Geo didn't know any werewolves in person, at least not that she was aware of, she was keen to pursue a law career and had been keeping up with the news of the hunters. The fourth year quickly moved up to the side of the student, trying to peer over the newspaper at the outcome. It didn't occur to her that it may have appeared an unusual topic to talk about. As far as she was concerned it was a valid and vital part of their community and one that shouldn't have to be threatened by people like them. "What does it say?" she asked eagerly, curious to know whether it would match any of the predictions she'd been making in her head over the last few weeks.

Willow saw that the other girl was not really impressed by the results of the Quidditch game. and guessed that she must have been a thunderers fan. It sounds like it was an exciting game too" she said scanning through the column a little more. this part of the conversation was really just a distraction to willow. sure she followed quidditch but compared to the other article even her team winning was not something that she felt overly proud of.
As the girl peered over her shoulder trying to get a look at the article she too read the words printed on the page in bold black ink. "they were sentenced to life imprisonment with no chance of parole. she said. this time the words sunk in and her body physically seemed to relax. " thank god for that" she said. that was good news at least. she hoped that they were just a rogue couple and not part of some organised group. even if they were at least their sentence might give the rest some serious thinking time before they did anything. "And look here. it sounds like they were using their own children as bait" she said pointing to one passage. who would do that? what would happen if something went wrong and their child got bitten? would they kill their own children? she thought about that for a second. it was the exact opposite of what her parents did every month. ever since she had been born she had been guaranteed one-night sleepover with a relative each month, maybe even two if there was a blue moon.
