Kate groaned, her groggy eyes trying to open. She was feeling particularly awful , she hadn't been sleeping well at all this evening. She had once again woken up, a pain ricocheting in her abdomen. She clenched her teeth, letting the pain pass before breathing once more. She sighed, trying to sit up. With only three-four weeks left Kate's belly was huge and it was a struggle lifting herself up. She didn't want to shake the bed too much in case she woke up poor Stefan. He had a tough time as it was. They were all still reeling in shock over his uncle's death. She looked at her watch and sighed once more. This was her fourth or fifth time waking up and it was now turning into the early stages of the morning. She was growing concerned. She felt as almost as if she were on her period except it was accompanied by a headache and a general feeling of being uncomfortable. Each time she woke up, the pain increased. She couldn't be in labour, could she? It was still to early, the baby wasn't finished growing yet. But these pains in her abdomen sounded exactly like that of contractions. Kate grew bit her lip. This is where she really felt her lack of experience. She grimaced figuring they really needed to get to St Mungos. This was just what they needed, an extra burden on top of what had already happened. She gently woke Stefan up before informing him what was happening. Quickly they gathered what they could in the short time they had before making their way to St Mungos.

"Labour, you're in labour" was all that was going through her head. She wanted to tell them to stop it, to make sure her baby stayed inside her but it was too late, she was too far gone to attempt anything like that. A part of her still didn't understand, she didn't remember her waters breaking or doing anything that would cause the baby to start coming now. But even as she thought this, she could feel the wetness. She wanted to cry but instead she clenched her hands, one on her bump and the other holding Stefan's hand. The pain was awful, the healers noticed her water had broken and they informed her and Stefan of the next form of action. They wanted to keep the baby in there for as long as they could so they would be able to give her an injection which would hopefully lessen the chance of any complications. Kate nodded her head, feeling slightly numb but keeping her tight grip on Stefan's hand. They would get through this, her, Stefan and the baby. Everyone was going to be fine and in the next few hours she would be holding their baby in her arms.

A few hours later..

Kate was exhausted. She was also sweaty and sore but unbelievably overjoyed. Although everyone had worried about the welfare of her and the baby, they were fine. In fact there seemed to be no real serious complications. A fact which had taken a huge weight off her shoulders. Kate now had a small baby boy lying on her chest. It was to help with his development process. He had been lying there for a couple of hours now and Kate hadn't been able to take her eyes off him. She knew all mothers probably thought this, but he was the most beautiful baby in the world, even with his little scrunched up face. Then it hit her, she was a mother. Of course ever since she became pregnant she knew she was, but now it was really starting to sink in. This little being depended on her and Stefan. It was essentially helpless. But she knew with all her heart she would give up her life for this baby. It had surprised her how much love she felt for someone she had only met a couple of hours ago. But here he was, after waiting for so long, her son now lay on top of her. The product of Stefan and her love. He had certainly entered the world with a bang. Kate smiled slightly, gently running her fingers down his arms. Despite the earlier panic, everything was quite peaceful now. A healer soon came and helped her feed the baby before wrapping him up and letting her hold him once again. Kate turned and looked over at Stefan, he had been unable to hold him yet due to the healers wanting to keep the baby close to Kate for the first few hours, just in case. "Here you go"She whispered, smiling.

Stefan awoke to someone was shaking him awake and as he reached consciousness he hoped that the last few days had just been some sort of nightmare Kate was waking him up from and in actual fact his uncle hadn't died, it felt a hundred times worse than when he'd lost his actual father, in the time Stefan had known him he had been more of a father than Stefan's father had ever been. But as Stefan woke up, and he blinked tiredly at the figure shaking him awake he realised it was his wife and she began explaining what was happening and he felt his heart began to race, springing immediately into action, because it wasn't supposed to be happening yet, they had another month to go until the baby was supposed to be born, was something wrong, were they going to lose the baby too, Stefan wasn't sure how much more loss he could take in one short week. He got himself up off the bed, and into the first clothes he could grab, the ones from the day before, the warmest sweater he could, a gift from his uncle for his twenty-sixth birthday, grabbing his glasses last as he took Kate's hand in his and they left for the Hospital. After a few hours of flurried activity Stefan found himself stood in the room with Kate, at her side as she held the baby in her arms, with him resting lightly upon her chest and Stefan could feel so much pride and love for his beautiful wife, for the beautiful child she had managed to bring into this world, he knew she was exhausted but Stefan was so proud, he wanted to wrap his little family up in a blanket and hold on so tightly he'd never be able to let go, to treasure this moment, this feeling he felt forever. No longer was the thing in Kate's belly just a some what distant thing something happening but not yet occurring, it had kicked and made itself known, Kate had suffered as it had developed and grown, but for Stefan it had still not really felt real until now as she was holding it, being aided in feeding it, as it was now a real person right in front of him and Stefan was just so in love with them both, he loved her, and he loved their new born son with all his heart, so pleased he'd agreed to let it happen.

The librarian was very surprised that when the baby was wrapped up again and in Kate's arms, that she offered Stefan the opportunity to hold his son for the first time, he held out his arms to her and stood frozen in the spot as Kate handed him his son, all bundled up in the little blankets they'd been given, so tiny in his much larger arms. Support the head, support the head was the internal mantra as he cradled the boy in his arms, Stefan couldn't take his eyes off his son, the way his sleeping face was scrunched up, the tiny little features that he had, all of the things which would change and grow, but right now, he was an innocent young baby with no idea of the horrors the world held, he was innocent and untainted. Stefan in that moment he'd first held his son couldn't at all understand his father, he had always been able to reason, to justify what his father had done to him, all the pain and misery, the hunger and the cold, but staring at his own son he didn't understand it any more, he couldn't justify it any more. His son in his arms was the most important thing in his life before him before even Kate, he would never want to see him be hurt, much less be the cause of it, Stefan knew he would rather go hungry than let his son go hungry, he would rather suffer in the cold than make his son suffer, he knew that where his father had resorted to violence, he would never once raise his hand to his son, not on his watch would this innocent boy suffer in anything close to how Stefan had, he promised that then. Stefan sat down in the seat next to Kate's bed, still holding the little boy in his arms, after what had been a terrible week this felt so perfect, "What colour are his eyes, are they like mine?" Stefan muttered unable to pull his eyes away from the little boy, he leaned in and gave the boy a little kiss on his oh so tiny but perfect nose, needing to ask the question, it would be a good indication of if he was an Archer boy and therefore suffered the same as Stefan and Tybalt and as his uncle had.

Stefan finally tore his eyes away from his beautiful boy and met Kate's gaze, tears in the corners of his eyes which had been there since he'd first seen the little bundle, heard the little cry, he was so overjoyed with what they had achieved, this little perfect person that was a little of them both, all his thoughts of how it could go wrong of his fears over having children had just gone, "What shall we call him?" He asked moving his hand so that as he still held him correctly with on, he could run a finger on his tiny little cheek, "Tiny Archer seems appropriate now, but I think he'll grow out of it," he joked, and he realised in the moment that he looked between her and their baby that he was now a father, and there wasn't a bone of fear in his body, all he felt was love for his wife and their child.

It was almost surreal. She could feel his little body, lying on her. She could feel his little heartbeat, matching hers. It was beautiful and Kate wanted to cry because she was so happy. The stress and pain over the previous hours, almost made this moment more special. The two people she loved most in the world were beside her now. It was perfect, she wanted someone to take a picture, just to capture it for every more. Everything, all the pain, the sickness and the stress was worth it. She wouldn't care if it was a hundred times worse next time, she would do it all over again. There were no words to describe how she felt when they first laid him on her chest. The relief, the love.. she just couldn't express it in words. He was so innocent and so pure. She felt this connection to him already. He was her son, their son. This was just a boost to them, even though one Archer had left the world, another had entered. It was almost poetic , but she was glad. Hopefully the arrival of the baby could ease the pain somewhat. It was in that moment she knew what their son was to be named. She was sure Stefan would agree. If possible, this moment had made her love for Stefan grow even more. They had done this, made something so beautiful. She couldn't wait to bring the baby home and for the two of them to start the real process of parenting, together.

She wanted to give Stefan a huge kiss and a hug when she saw he froze as she gave him the baby. She wasn't at all worried, she knew the same parental instincts that had stirred in her, would stir in him also. And only she had been looking for it, she saw the change, she saw how he didn't take his eyes off his son. She couldn't help herself then , the tears were forming in the corner of her eyes. He was going to be a great father and she knew he would never hurt him. She hoped Stefan was realising that too. She watched as he sat down beside her, his eyes glued to the little bundle. She stretched out her hand so could stroke his face before settling back in the bed. She was still too tired to move around much but she couldn't let him out her sight. Kate smiled sadly "He has your eyes" placing her hand on his that was holding the baby. She knew it would be hard for their son and a small part of her had expected this outcome. But he had beautiful blue eyes, like his father and they would help him. He would have Stefan to help him when he was older and together they would do all they could to make his life a bit easier. When he looked up at her, she could see the tears in his eyes and all her resolve fell away as the tears started to freely fall. She loved him so much and now they had this small little bundle who had parts of them both and would grow up to be their own person. She wanted to kiss them both. She laughed, wiping away the tears. Then forgoing her tiredness , leaned over and kissed Stefan on the head and then gently kissed their son on the head. When she sat back up she looked at Stefan "I think Branson would be a wonderful name"She said, smiling sadly. It was undeniably appropriate and the least they could do for the man who had been so much more a father to Stefan than his own father had.

The weight in his arms felt unreal, it was so small and so easy to hold, the baby seemed smaller than even his forearm, it was so small, and so dependent on them, on him and Kate, and Stefan couldn't understand the strange feeling inside of him, he would do whatever he could to help his son, a deep sense of protectiveness over him. Even with Kate's confirmation that his son's eyes were just like his, and the troubles he knew that came with such a confirmation, but unlike his own experiences with it growing up, he would help his son, help him learn, get him glasses that fit and never once make him feel bad about what he was, never would his son hear the words that had been uttered to him. The librarian knew that Kate would help too, he could see it in her eyes, in the way she looked so lovingly at their son, the thing they had produced, Stefan looked up at her and nodded his head at the reply to the question, a slightly delayed nod in answer, "It'll be fine, he's got us," he told her as Stefan's gaze shifted up to her, and it seemed as tears threatened in his eyes they seemed to fall in hers, he just wiped his eyes with his sleeves so overjoyed at what he held and he wanted to hand her back the baby let her hold their son more, but couldn't bring himself to yet, he wanted to hold the little person for a little longer. The baby shifted slightly in the blankets and Stefan stilled his entire body not wanting to wake up the little guy, he had had a pretty eventful day in the grand scheme of things, and sleep would help him grow, and he felt so tentative and nervous in all he did with the baby that it had only made sense to still.

Stefan leaned into the kiss from Kate and he shifted the baby slightly so that she would be able to kiss his head lightly, and he decided to move the chair forward, so that it was right next to her as close as he could be without being on the bed entirely, so that she could look at their son in his arms too. Stefan could count on his hands the amount of times he'd been in a hospital, and this time, this wiped out all the bad, because he had his son in his arms, something he had never thought would ever be possible, he had never thought of himself as capable of being a father and yet now he was one and he had never felt love or such pure joy like it. His emotions appeared all over the place, he couldn't help but feel such immense joy over the baby, over his son, but he felt a little guilty feeling so good so soon after what had happened to his uncle, but at Kate's suggestion of the name he looked up at her, suddenly realising how much he wanted to name him after the man who'd helped him so much and had never had the occasion to meet the new Archer despite how excited he had been, "Branson," he repeated to the little boy, "Welcome to the world Branson," he muttered quietly raising the boy slightly and once again placing a kiss on his little head. Stefan could feel his son's breathing and heart beat through the blankets wrapped around him, it was such a strange thing, not twenty four hours ago he had just been in Kate, now Stefan was holding him in his arms, "He's so beautiful Kate, you did so good," Stefan said with a light laugh but meaning what he said, he couldn't believe that within the next few days they'd be taking him home, and raising him.

"Look at his tiny little nose, he's just so small, so fragile," the man continued in a quiet tone of disbelief, as he looked at tiny bundle in his arms he had always known babies would be small but there was something just so incredible at how small they were, how anyone could harm a baby or a child was truly beyond him now, Stefan ran a hand along the small baby's cheek, noticing his own scars on his far larger hand as he stroked the tiny cheeks, the testament of what his own father had done to him, and what he promise to never do to his own son.

It was a beautiful sight. A father holding his son for the first time. She could see how lovingly Stefan looked at their little bundle. It was wonderful to see the happiness there rather than the fear. There was a growing sense of protectiveness in her. She knew it was going to be hard, balancing the need to protect with letting them go out and live their lives. She knew her own parents had struggled but ultimately Kate was all the better for the trials she had overcome. She probably wouldn't be sitting her with Stefan with their first baby if she had allowed them to be overprotective. That didn't mean she wouldn't take advantage of the fact their son needed them, needed their protectiveness for a long time yet. She knew she would do anything to ensure he had the happiest and best life she could give. They would make sure he was given the best resources to help him. Stefan would be invaluable in helping him and they would make sure they gave him everything they could. "That's right"She agreed, nodding her head. As Stefan wiped his eyes, she wiped her own tears. There was such a world wind of emotions going on inside her it was hard not to cry. She watched, amused as Stefan's whole body stilled when the baby moved. She couldn't say which was more adorable, Stefan or their son moving. "You're going to be a great Dad"She told him, smiling proudly.

She was grateful when Stefan moved closer. She wanted to be close to their baby. Although she was wrecked tired and probably looked terrible, she didn't want to sleep, she wanted to just stay here in this moment. She was so full of happiness and love. She would never tire of seeing Stefan and their son, now named Branson. She loved seeing her own protectiveness, love and happiness echoing in his eyes. "Branson Moon Archer?" She tried, liking how it sounded. It had been an easy decision and she was glad this was his name. She was glad they had waited until the baby had been born to discover their gender. It made this moment all the more special and it was almost uncanny how they had a new son just after his uncle passed. She could see how much it meant to Stefan also. Kate grinned "We both did"She reasoned. And they had. She was proud of them both. They had brought a beautiful, new human being into the world. Kate would never be prouder. Kate laughed again. He had an adorable little nose which she wanted to kiss. "He is so tiny, look at his little fingers also"She said reaching out and stroking his tiny, tiny fingers. She just wanted to cuddle him up close to her again. She missed the feeling of him in her arms and on her chest. But it was Stefan's turn, his moment. She also loved seeing them together with Stefan gazing down. It would make any mother proud and happy.

Stefan couldn't believe the little baby in his arms was his, there was just such disbelief, such a range of just wild emotions that all boiled down to the child in his arms, the little baby that was his own son, a little bit her, and a little bit of him, and a name to combine them both, Branson Moon Archer. This little boy, his little son was breathing and moving in his arms, there was nothing in this world that he wouldn't do for him, he'd give everything for him in a heartbeat, inflicting any form of pain upon his child was so foreign to him, how could a person, a baby, a child was so young and defenceless, so pure and innocent to the world. Stefan nodded at her words, he only had his now dead uncle to base how to raise a son, his own father had not given Stefan a good childhood, or a good start in life, but it seemed the second chapter of his life was far better, and he had more in his life than he ever had thought possible. After all there had been a time when just living to the next day was his biggest aspiration, now he had so much and so many he loved and though he couldn't promise that he would be a great father he would definitely try his best and do his best to never let Kate down, to lean on her when he needed help.

Now more than ever, Stefan realised how good it was that he had kate and he was doing this with his beautiful wife, she had always supported him even when he hadn't asked for it, when he'd said he didn't need it, and now they were starting this together, able to help raise a child that would only know love, little Branson Archer. Stefan grinned at her as she spoke, unable to stop the smile that crossed his lips, she had done all the hard work that was for sure, but he'd happily take a little of the credit for what he had created. It was true as she leaned to his little fingers that they were much like the rest of him, tiny, with small nails that didn't even seem like they were real, nothing about it seemed real, but it was and this was their life now, "So tiny," he agreed with a slight laugh on his tone as he agreed, there were such positive emotions rushing through him, such positivity that he'd never experienced before, it was such an incredible rush, such an incredible feeling, he thought his heart would burst from all the love he felt towards his little family, "Here," he stood up slightly, giving the baby back to Kate, whom he knew was probably like him just longing to hold him, and feeling the little breaths and the little heart beat, without his son in his arms, he wasn't sure what to do, but just stood at her side, looking down with a face filled with love at his wife and son, and couldn't help as he just leaned in and gave Kate a loving kiss on the top of her head.

Kate had often dreamt of this moment, even before she became pregnant. Although she hadn't always wanted children, as soon as a real desire filled her heart, this was the moment she had thought of the most. There had been so many variables, when would be the baby be born, was it going to be a boy or a girl and so on. It was the moment all mothers had spoke about. Kate had to agree that none of her dreams compared to actually living in that moment. This was a memory she would cherish for the rest of her life. If they had more kids, she would cherish their moment also, but Branson being the first-born, his moment would always have a special place in her heart. Everything had been so new and even now everything was still new and she didn't have a clue what was going to happen next. That was the joy of starting a new phase in your life, there are so many things unknown and everything from then on is a new experience. She and Stefan had just begun the new chapter in their story. Although it had started tinged with sadness, it would develop into something beautiful. Of that, Kate was sure. She couldn't imagine living this moment with anyone other than Stefan. He had been and always would be her rock. These past few months had been hard, both mentally and physically. But Stefan had always been there, willing to do whatever he could to ease the process. She would always, always be grateful to him for that because she wasn't sure if she would have been able to cope with out that support and love.

If possible Kate's smile widened when Stefan handed her their baby. It wasn't until he was back nestled in her arms did she realise how much she had missed him being there. It was almost scary, how attached and protective she already was. She snuggled him close, kissing the top of his head, savouring the feeling of his little body in her arms. She smiled and closed her eyes when she felt Stefan's kiss on her head. She wanted to cry again, she was so overcome with many different emotions. Seeing Stefan stand there, she slowly moved over to allow space on the bed. She wanted both of them to be able to ogle at their son together, beside one another. Her movement however had woken the drowsy baby. "Look Stefan" She whispered, gazing down at those beautiful blue eyes. He didn't even cry, he just looked up at them both. Kate's heart almost stopped, it was so small yet to her, so profound. "I hope his quietness now means he won't be waking us up at three in the morning every night"She muttered but grinning. It would be nice if he was a lovely, quiet baby but she wouldn't mind the alternative either. At least then they would be sure he had healthy pair of lungs and Kate could hope he would have a wonderful singing voice. She knew dealing with all these things was part of the process and knowing her she probably wouldn't be able to sleep either way because she would just watch him sleep, all night. And that was what she was doing, just watching and marvelling at how special he was and how much their new little family meant to her.

Tybalt had returned to work a few days after his father had died,he'd spent time with his mother, drank his sorrows and just returned to work, knowing that he couldn't put it off, and though he'd been offered a little more time to overcome a number of issues, he was definitely more settled when he had to focus on work. Much like when he'd been at school the thing which had brought him the most amount of joy was working, he had always studied like crazy in school, and now seemed like a good time to post pone any odd feelings from his father's death and focus on helping others. Preventing them from suffering with what he was currently dealing with. The man had been happily placed on night shift, and had heard up the grapevine that another Archer was in the hospital, now, Tybalt never thought anything of it, he continued with his work, until he received word from his mother that he was supposed to find Stefan and Kate at the hospital, had he read the rest of the letter he might've figured out what that meant, but instead his mind went at a hundred miles per hour towards the worst possible thing which had happened. It didn't take long to locate them, and again had he paid attention he would've realised where he was going but he was blinded by fear and exhaustion that it wasn't until he all but practically burst into the room that he noticed it.

Instead of his cousin or his wife injured, Tybalt was staring at his cousin's wife, clearly holding a baby and since she had been the one pregnant that just had to be their child, the sense of relief that washed over him was nothing like he'd ever felt before, "You're not due for another month," he stated although it was very much too late for that now since the baby was now right in front of them. He felt himself smile as he made his way over to Stefan and gave his older cousin the biggest hug he could, his cousin who was more like his brother and who had just become a father. Tybalt gripped on tightly unable to get himself to let go of the older man, as waves of emotions poured over him, feelings of sorrow and heartache over his father, their father, and of joy and elation over the fact his brother was now a father. He pulled away and then looked to his wife, "Congratulations," he greeted her, finally looking down at the baby and finding a small smile on his lips, realising in that moment that he needed to settle down, he needed to be an adult not a teenager who just liked drinking all of the time, "The baby's beautiful, congratulations to you both," he put his arm around his cousin in a one armed hug, just so proud of his older cousin and it was an odd pride but his cousin hadn't done anything yet but just that he was taking this step with his life with his wife at his side, starting an adorable family, "What is the little baby called?" he hadn't wanted to outright ask gender and thought this the most polite way to do it.

It was such a strange feeling, holding a baby in his arms, but he had truly loved it, ithad been the first time he'd ever done something of the sort and was feeling just so at ease with it, like aside from his residing fear over waking or hurting Branson nothing had felt more natural in the world, and giving him back to Kate had made his arms feel a little empty, but the librarian knew that if he felt like that, then it must be ten times over for Kate who had given birth to him, who had him within her for all that time. He couldn't believe any of it, just so proud and happy at the same time, just so at ease with his beautiful wife and his beautiful son. Stefan just sat down on the edge of her bed by her pillows after kissing her lightly on the head, letting his gaze just fall to the bundle in her arms. The baby appeared to be waking up and Stefan held his breath as the eyes stared between him and Kate, he couldn't tell what they were really like, but he knew the baby couldn't either, so he just gave the boy a warm and loving smile as he seemed to stare up at them both. It was such an odd feeling, such a growing love in his heart that just seemed like it would never stop, forever he knew he would protect this baby, forever would he try to ensure the boy had no reason to cry, and at Kate's words he just laughed lightly, waking up at three in the morning because he was crying to Stefan was just no big deal, "There are worse reasons to be awoken at that time," he said off handedly, "His cute little face, that I'll be okay with,"

Stefan looked up when someone all but burst into the room, a little confused by it and he stood up easily, taking a few steps forward intending to protect his family when he realised it was none other than his cousin/brother, who appeared a little confused about the sight, but this was quickly shifted from confused to an obviously happy look and all of a sudden Stefan was engulfed in a hug from his cousin, which he very easily returned, wrapping his arms around him tightly and giving his cousin the biggest hug Stefan had ever managed in his life, such a mixture of things had been happening, and he was just so pleased to had his cousin, so glad that he had family that would still help him and care about him. The librarian was so thankful for Tybalt and his family and he just felt waves of out pouring emotions from the last few days wash out of him. He pulled away eventually when his cousin seemed to be doing the same, and stood at Kate's side once more as he looked at the baby, their beautiful little son, and then upon the question he just smiled, "Branson Moon Archer," he told him a sense of pride in his voice, since he wanted Tybalt to like the name but to also approve of it, he need him to be okay with it before he could go any further, though the name was not yet set in stone, as Stefan stared down at his son in Kate's arms all he could see was a Branson, "He's like us," he added with a small smile knowing Tybalt would understand that and much like Stefan had vowed to, he was sure Tybalt would help too in this matter.

Kate grinned "That's true"She admitted, stroking Branson's cheek gently with her index finger. His skin was so soft and everything about him was so vulnerable and innocent. She couldn't ever imagine letting him out in the world. It was too sad and scary. She never wanted to see him hurt or see him come to any harm. It was her motherly instinct rearing out for the first time and it was breath-taking how strong it was. She would do her utmost best to ensure nothing ever happened him in fact she knew she would die to save him. But for now it was nice to sit with her husband and their son and just relax. The last few hours had been such a world wind of emotions and pain, Kate loved how she could just lie in bed now with those she loved around her. She leaned her head on his shoulder as he sat down. She let out a happy sigh, extremely content. She watched as their baby yawned, his eyes fluttering. She smiled, stroking his face once more "Yes, I wouldn't mind that" she agreed, looking up at Stefan before her gaze wandered back to Branson. It was hard to keep her eyes away from him for long.

Kate's grin widened when she saw Tybalt enter the room. He looked a bit shocked which was understandable. She was sure it would be a shock to most of the family since she wasn't due for another month. But she could see their joy echo in his face. The tears started once again when she saw the two cousins hug. They were close, more like brothers and Kate loved how they had always been there for Stefan. They were the family he needed and they had constantly supported him since they had found each other. Kate was forever grateful to them for that. "Thank you" She smiled warmly. She could only imagine how Tybalt felt at the moment and she hoped the arrival of the baby would help him. She bit her lip. Although they had chosen the name, if Tybalt or any close family members disagreed they would of course reconsider. She dearly hoped they would love it just as much as Stefan and her. In their minds, it was perfect. It was was a testament to the man who had filled in the role of a father for Stefan. "Would you like to hold him?"She asked looking down again. One of his little arms had broke free of the blanket and was wriggling around. Kate laughed lightly, putting out her finger so that his little hand grabbed it. She didn't want to let him go but she wanted the family to have their turn, holding and meeting him for the first time. "Come over here"She looked up at him, smiling encouragingly.

The moment she heard, Sara was out of the house, quickly pulling on a jacket. She'd been thoroughly cleaning the house when the owl had come; about time too. It was becoming increasingly untidy as she devoted more and more time to work, finally getting back into the swing of things, though the nightmares still troubled her. That was why she'd been awake, a particularly troubling one had woken her. It was strange for Sara, imagining that her twin had a child. Kate, the girl she'd grown up with, was now a mother. Sucha strange thought. She couldn't quite comprehend it; she was an aunt. Weird. Her parents were grandparents. Even weirder. It was worrying that it Kate hadn't reached term yet. She hoped the child was okay. Was it a boy or a girl? She wondered as she slipped out the door. She had charms on her house to prevent apparating, which could be annoying at times like these, but ultimately it made her feel safer. This baby couldn't have come at a better time; she knew Stefan had been going through a difficult period, and it would be wonderful to see the couple who'd beaten all the odds to be together, have a purely joyful occurrence.

Apparating to the hospital, she ran to the desk to ask after her twin. She probably looked like the wreck of the Hesperus, wide eyed, sleep-deprived and very worried, asking which floor and room to head to. She burst into the room, looking around frantically without really seeing anything "Kate, are you okay? Is the baby-" she began, before her eyes came to rest on the happy scene. "Oh Kate. Wow." She could feel herself tearing up a little, as she moved over to look at her new nephew? Was it a nephew? Whatever this little bundle of joy was, he was perfect. "Congratulations. Oh well done." she grinned, reaching forward to clasp her sisters hand. It was then that she registered the other people in the room "Stefan, congratulations!" she couldn't help hugging him, and finding joy in the fact that he felt so sturdy and strong. "You two will be amazing parents." she couldn't stop smiling. "Hi Tybalt! How are you?" she added, smiling at the younger man. She didn't know Tybalt Archer very well, but knew he meant a lot to Stefan. He'd always seemed like a nice boy. "Oh my God, I feel so old. But it was early! Are you okay?" she asked, turning back to her sister, who certainly looked fine; blissful if truth be told. "He's so cute!" she whispered, gazing at the child before her. She'd always loved kids, but babies were truthfully the most perfect beings on Earth. She could feel something stirring in her heart. She wanted one, a child. She knew she wasn't ready for one, nor would she be having one any time soon considering she was single, but she wanted to be a mother.

Tybalt had an arm slightly around Stefan as he heard the little boy's name, Branson, just like his father and Tybalt felt himself almost freeze at it, he wasn't dealing well with his father's death, but he knew how much the man had meant to his cousin, how much he had impacted on the older boy's life, he felt for not being there for him, for throwing himself so heartily back into his work and revision and not really ever thinking about those around himself, to his cousin whose own father had been awful and for who, Tybalt's father had been a showing of how not all parents were terrible. Tybalt nodded eventually, looking between the pair and then the baby, "Branson," he repeated, the name felt a little foreign in his mouth, but he thought the boy suited it, it did of course mean it was a little boy, and for them that meant that he was always going to be at a slight disadvantage, "He'll be alright," Tybalt easily assured his cousin, knowing the thoughts likely swirling in the older man's head ones that had circled in his own at the prospect of him too having a son like them, but he knew together they'd all be alright. Tybalt was very surprised at her suggestion, could he hold it, Tybalt's initial reaction to it was to shake his head, to say that he couldn't, that he would likely break the baby somehow and he couldn't do that, but watching the tiny baby reach out with it's tiny hand made him crumble at the sight, and yes, he wanted to hold the baby very much.

The man had some training with young children, but he approached her and the baby with all the caution that he could holding out his arms, and letting her slowly place the baby into his arms, and he then adjusted it and stood up once more to full height, looking at the little baby in his arms, just as someone else stepped into the room, he knew her only by association, Sara, and smiled at her as she like him had assumed that something had been wrong. He remained next to the bed as he held the child, just so that it was still close to it's mother on the off chance that it started crying and Tybalt needed to hand it back. He was perhaps now keen to have his own kids but he wasn't quite ready or in any position to do so, his life was mostly made up of work and alcohol, two things he knew would never work with a child anywhere near to it. The young healer in training glanced up at her at the question and nodded, "I'm good, yourself?" he asked but the question seemed pointless given that he was holding a new born baby and that was the focus of all the attention, and it was where Tybalt's attention definitely was, his gaze unable to leave the baby in his arms, the eyes that stared back up at him, questioning, curious, little Branson, Tybalt wished his father had been able to see this, to enjoy this moment but he couldn't be like that, this was a moment of pure joy and he knew that he should hand it back to Kate, so that she and her sister could enjoy staring at the adorable little boy, "Here you go," Tybalt handed him back to Kate before remaining at Stefan's side and met his gaze, "Dad would've been proud," he muttered quietly to him with the small hints of a smile.

There was little that surprised him about Tybalt's entrance into the room, but it did still fill Stefan with so much joy to just see him, after all that had happened it was good to be together at this moment to enjoy what was some good news. The librarian knew that the birth of his son was likely the best news either of them had had in days and he was so overjoyed at becoming a father and all the responsibility that would come with it. He couldn't really take his eyes off the boy for long, especially as the boy now a little awake moved within the blankets and moved within Kate's arms, but he stood out the way as his younger cousin took the baby in his arms and held it, of course correctly. He enjoyed the sight of it, his child a new life in the world, the entirety of this moment with his family, all the little parts of it brought Stefan so much joy, it made his mind at ease, and even more so, that Tybalt had seemed to like the name they had given their son. It was as his son remained in his cousins arms that another friendly face turned up to the room. The man smiled easily at Kate's twin, and smiled at her as she realised that everything was fine, the baby was fine. It seemed that a baby arriving early was a just cause for most people to be concerned but the child was fine, and so was Kate, for which Stefan was so immensely pleased about he had his little perfect family, and it had been made so much more perfect by the arrival of Branson. The fears and concerns he'd had over children seemed gone from his mind now, just so happy at the boy that they had, at the life they were continued together.

Stefan smiled at Sara and returned the hug with a smile at her, he was glad she could be here for Kate, and enjoy with them this moment of joy, a little time to just all be together with the newborn, the tiny little newborn in Tybalt's arms, "Kate did all the hard work," Stefan told her with a light laugh, since that was true, all the congratulations were due to her, his part had been minor and really only started now. But he smiled at it anyway, easily looking at his son as Tybalt handed it back to it's mother. Stefan loved their son so much already, he wanted everyone holding him to just oh so careful, he was brand new and so small and fragile. But, Stefan turned to his cousin as he spoke, nodding at the statement, knowing the meaning behind it, he would've wanted to be there for it, Stefan knew how much the man had been looking forward to it, but it was too late for that now. Stefan smiled at his cousin, placing a reassuring hand on his shoulder and squeezing it lightly, "I'm sure he would've, and I'm sure he'd love being the namesake," the librarian told his cousin, knowing that his cousin would probably much enjoy being a baby sitter when they needed it, or just being the young child, "No quidditch, not until he's at least 11," he was maybe pushing it a little too far age wise, but he knew his cousin loved quidditch and any opportunity to teach others was something he'd likely do, but Stefan's tone was light and he was clearly just having fun, although he was serious in that he thought quidditch was too dangerous, but knowing that Tybalt and obviously his wife had both been quidditch players that he might lose that particular battle.

She let out the breath she had been holding when Tybalt voiced no qualms about their chosen name. She was delighted as it meant so much to Stefan and to her. It would have been nice to name the baby Branson anyway as he had tried to fill in the role of a father to Stefan in light of how his brother had treated his son. Kate could now fully relax and enjoy this moment. She knew as long as Branson had Tybalt and Stefan to help him he would be fine. He would have plenty of guidance and Kate and Stefan would give him all the help they could. He was their light and he had brightened their lives. He had brought joy to them something they had desperately needed. She was so happy now and her heart was full of every positive emotion under the sun. She knew this had been the right decision. Stefan and she had been in the right place in their lives and she could see from his reaction that Stefan didn't regret the decision to have this baby. She smiled as Tybalt came over to take Branson. She carefully placed the gurgling baby into his arms. It was hard giving him to others but she wanted those close to her to hold him. She could see Tybalt was worried but of everyone here he shouldn't. He was the healer in training and she could see the minute he held the baby he knew what he was doing.

Kate's grin widened when her twin entered the room. She could tears well up once more. She was glad to have a member of her family here especially her twin. Her reaction was very similar to that of Tybalts which was understandable. They were incredibly lucky that their baby was healthy. Although smaller than normal he was in every other way a perfect baby. She clasped her sister's hand tightly, taking some strength from her presence before she went over to Stefan. She smiled enjoying everyone's happiness with the baby. It relaxed and made her happy when all those she loved were happy and it was even more special because it was Branson who brought everyone together. "He's perfect"She told Sara, reassuring her sister. "I can't claim all the credit, you did have to deal with me during the pregnancy"She grinned, her tone playful but it was the truth. The whole process hadn't been easy for either of them but it had all been worth it. She gently took the baby back and cradled him in her arms. His arm kept moving about but his eyes rested on her. She loved those blue eyes despite what they meant. Kate looked up at Sara "Yes we are both okay. We're not sure what happened, Branson here just decided it was time to come out" She told her her eyes once again resting on her beautiful son. She leaned down and kissed his small nose. "We'll see about that"She replied to Stefan her eyes twinkling , the ever present smile still one her face. She wasn't exactly keen on him starting out very young and the thought of him on a broom flying high in the sky terrified her. But they had to let him try, for all they knew he might hate the sport. Kate had endured enough injuries during her time on the quidditch team to keep her playing of it minimal at best. Though she hated to part with him so soon she beckoned Sara closer "Would you like to hold your new nephew?"She asked her smile encouraging.

Sara couldn't take her eyes off of the child. He was perfect; with those big, beautiful blue eyes, so like his father's. She still remembered the first time she'd met Stefan Archer; half blinded him by opening curtains, unaware of his sensitive eyes. Little baby Archer. It was so strange to think all that time had passed, it felt like yesterday that she and Kate had held that birthday party by the lake. So many friends who'd drifted away; Gil, Kayden. Through all of it; Kate and Stefan had been a constant. They were so perfect for each other. This new arrival would only add to their happiness. "Oh I'm fine." she replied, watching Tybalt with the babe. He looked so tiny in his arms. To think this tiny little being was a fusion of two of the kindest people on Earth. The child was nearly destined to be a saint. "He is perfect, so beautiful.. Dad will adore him." That made her laugh, she loved babies, always had. She'd inherited that trait from her Dad; he'd always loved kids. "Dream team." she whispered, looking between the two happy parents.

"You half scared me to death little man." she grinned, stroking a tiny, perfect finger. "Branson; a lovely name." she added, catching her sisters eye. That name would mean a lot to the two men in the room. She hadn't known Branson the elder, but she knew how much he'd meant to Stefan. "He comes from a line of Quidditch Players, poor kid doesn't stand a chance." she laughed aloud at Stefan's comment. This was simply such a happy time. Still, it felt so strange to think of her sister as a parent. "Kate, you're a mother. I can hardly believe it." she breathed, shaking her head, grinning from ear to ear. "Then again, you have practice looking after people." she smiled, squeezing her twins hand once more. The offer brought unexpected wetness to her eyes. "I would love to." she gently brought Branson Archer into her arms, making sure to support his head and neck. "Hello Branson Archer, how are you little man?" she asked, marvelling at his perfect features, those beautiful blue eyes. "Oh, I just want to spoil you rotten." she whispered, smiling. Strangely, she didn't feel nervous about holding this child. She knew she'd rather die than let this little boy be hurt. Family was important; it always had been. While she and her siblings may have had their differences; they were blood, and that meant something. "I'll give you back to your Mammy now." she smiled, rocking him one last time, before returning him to Kate's arms. "You must be wrecked." she commented, looking at her sister who looked so happily tired. "Well done Kit Kat." she whispered, her eyes once more wet with unshed tears as she used their old nickname. Her sister, her twin, a mother. She would be amazing.

Tybalt with the baby in his arms had never felt himself being so careful, not even with any of the work equipment that was clearly something he had to be careful with but this tiny little baby that was so important to his cousin and his cousin's wife was just about the most precious thing he had ever had the fortune to hold, it was such a beautiful child, such a tiny little thing, with it's tiny little finger, and he held it at an angle so that Sara too would be able to marvel at the child, it was such a precious little thing, he knew he would do anything in this world to keep him safe. He nodded at Sara's words, he was perfect, and he did have a dream team in terms of parents, he knew the child would be raised in such a warm and loving environment, that they would be taught how to be safe, how to love others and just shown all the kindness that the child would need to be just as good as they both were. Tybalt wasn't a betting man, but if he was, he'd be willing to bet that the little baby would be like Kate and Hufflepuff proud, though there was still more than enough time for him to make a Gryffindor out of him. The man nodded at Sara, smiling as she too took stroked the little boy's tiny fingers and complimented the name, "Definitely looks like a Branson," he said with a small smile, he looked nothing like his father had, but the more they said the name and the longer it had been on the boy the more it suited, and he definitely thought the baby was perfect, but it seemed right to describe him as such.

With the baby back in someone's arms that were not his own, Tybalt felt a small sense of relief no longer was he responsible for making such the child didn't get hurt because he wasn't yet good to hold the baby, "The boy's going to play quidditch, I don't think you'll have much of a say on that," Tybalt assured his cousin with a small laugh, after all, most of the people in this room had played, and he'd been a quidditch captain, he was sure that the kid would not only be good at it, but he really hoped that the child would love it, which given how passionate he, Kate and Sara all were about quidditch was sure to happen. The healer in training put his arm around his older cousin, as they both looked at the child, "He really is perfect," Tybalt told him as they watched Sara with the young baby, it really was perfect, "Alright, I think I'll go, I've just finished work, need some sleep," he told them a slight laugh in his tone, he did intend to go home, but after all this, and his father's death he wasn't sure that sleep would come that easily to him, but he had to at least try. Tybalt turned to his cousin and wrapped his arms around him in a tight hug, just wanting to get out all the emotions of the past few days and needing the closeness of this hug with his brother, eventually he pulled away and then just smiled down at the little boy, "He really is perfect Kate," Tybalt said one last time before giving them all a small wave and then leaving, he had so much on his mind he knew he needed to get out of there and just relax.

Stefan was on cloud nine, he couldn't believe how amazing this all was, how incredible it all felt, he knew that this moment of bliss would be followed with a lifetime of being this boy's parent, but he knew, he felt wholeheartedly like he could do it. Stefan didn't think he'd win on the quidditch issue, but with an Aunt like Sara and an Uncle like Tybalt or even a second aunt like Lydia, and that wasn't even taking into account the fact that Kate had played, that the boy would be perfectly safe, that he would be fine, and protected and no one in that moment would ever want to see any harm come to to the tiny precious little bundle. Stefan held his hands up at Tybalt's last words, "I guess so," he conceded, but Stefan would always assure that as the boy grew up that he would never go without anything so that would mean support when flying, that someone as he got to the age of school would always be watching him, always making sure that he was fine, that he would be fine if he got into any trouble. Stefan might not win the fight for his son to not play quidditch until he was far far older, but he knew that they'd all agree on making sure it was safe. The librarian watched as his son was passed from Kate and onto Sara, whom like with Tybalt he knew would take such good care around their son, seeing his son in her arms just reminded him how crazy it would be to want to harm a child, to harm a defenseless little baby who could do nothing but rely upon people, he knew he would never let this boy come to any harm whatsoever.

Stefan turned to his cousin as his cousin appeared to announce that he was leaving, and given that he was sure his cousin had been working for many hours and still taken the time to come see them, he would not complain about it. The man just returned the hug, holding the man close and just knowing this was what was necessary, Tybalt hadn't ever cared about Stefan's reluctance to hug, that while far beyond his own father and the problems that came with that, Stefan still wasn't the type who would really go for the hug, it was different with his family, with Kate's sister, all of them he would and without a thought about it, it was all he needed, all that was necessary. The man pulled away and met his cousin's gaze hoping the boy would be alright, and that his roommate would probably help him if he needed it currently, but then waved his cousin goodbye, "Thanks for stopping by," Stefan assured the younger man as he left. With that Stefan turned more towards Kate and Sara and his baby and easily leaned into Kate kissing on the top of the head as she took Branson back from Sara, he was just so proud of her, so proud of how well she'd done, "The little guy gave us all a little scare but I guess he just decided he was ready," Stefan said with a small shrug, referred to the earlier conversation they'd had, it had scared him and likely Kate too, "We're just glad he's here now, safe and well," Stefan reached out to lightly stroke the little baby's cheek, "And Kate obviously did amazing," The man said absolutely certain of this fact as he reached out and rested his hand on her arm with a loving smile on his face.

Kate smiled and nodded, yes her father was going to love this baby. He was going to love being a grandparent even though for Kate it was almost weirder thinking of her father as a grandparent than herself being a mother. She was glad he would be part of Branson's life. While she had not always got on with them, she would gladly put her own differences aside. They were after all his only biological grandparents and she wasn't cruel enough to deny her own parents time with him. Plus as she had grown older she understood their choices better and had accepted them. There was no real reason why they shouldn't be able to see him or be with him, in fact she was looking forward to when they would get to meet Branson for the first time. Kate was happy everyone seemed to like the name and deem it suitable. She was glad they had waited until this moment to name the baby, it was perfect. She knew Branson would be given every opportunity in this world. If he loved quidditch then she and Stefan would suppor him fully. Indeed she would be a small bit proud if he loved it as much as she had. She was sure for as long as Tybalt and Sara were around he would develop some interest in the game. She would ensure that he was taught properly so he could play as safely as possible. However she knew herself that it didn't matter how good he was, she would always worry whenever he got on a broom especially during matches. It was a vicious game but she knew in her heart it was also thrilling and she couldn't deny him that feeling if he felt the same way about the game as she had. But they had a while to go yet before he was up on any broom. "He'll only be learning from the best anyway"She grinned

Kate bit her lip "Neither can I to be honest"She admitted, a small, nervous laugh escaping. She didn't want to show anyone how nervous she actually was. This baby they were all doting on was the sole responsibility of Stefan and she. It was huge but she knew they would do as good a job as they would. She just needed to believe in herself, the fact that Stefan did made it all a bit easier. She smiled at Sara, she was glad that they had put their differences aside, she always knew what to say and she knew she could always count on her. Kate looked down once more at her son, he really was perfect and beautiful. She couldn't wait to watch him grow and develop. She carefully handed him over to Sara and she watched as she handled him so carefully and gently. She had no worries about her family and friends holding him as she knew they cared about him just as much as herself. But that didn't stop her from missing him, which she did each time he was in someone else's arms. Tybalt then announced he was leaving. "Thank you so much for coming by"She said to him, indeed grateful that he had found the time to do so. She hoped this had lifted his spirits somewhat and that it would help him deal with his grieving process. Kate's attention was brought back to the baby when Sara handed him back. She held him close, her arm supporting his head and neck. He was still quite alert but his eyes were closing for extended periods of time. He was just so adorable. She nodded to Tybalt a huge grin on her face. She hoped he would be okay. She then looked to Stefan "Yes we are"She agreed her expression matching Stefan's. She loved him so dearly and she was so so happy that despite the odds here they were, married, happy and celebrating the birth of their first child. "A tad tired"She admitted before kissing Branson on the forehead. "But it was all worth it"She added almost to herself. Truthfully she just wanted to sleep right now but she didn't want to end this moment, it was too perfect. She looked up at the two people she loved most in the world and smiled."Thank you Sara" her tears also threatening to overflow "thank you for being here, it means so much"She said truthfully. She took strength from her twins presence. She then leaned into Stefan "And thank you"She whispered grateful for all the help and support he had given through out the pregnancy and she hoped he understood how much it meant to her.

Sara could feel her heartstrings tugging as she looked at the happy little picture before her. It felt like such a private moment, she wouldn't stay much longer. She looked across as Tybalt left, raising a hand in a parting salute. She couldn't wait for this. Watching her sister, all she could think of was what it would be like should she have kids. Would the cousins be friends? Family was important to both of them, Had it not been, the Moons would've fallen apart years before. Mentioning her Dad always made her think of that. If they'd stayed in Ireland, would things have been different? Would they never have grown apart? It was a wonder that she had a relationship with her siblings at all, she'd pushed them away for a fair amount of time, as had Ryan. Kate had been the one to pull her back, and she'd forcibly shoved Ryan back. She'd sat on him, hadn't she? The memory made her smile. Hopefully this little boy would inherit the kindness of his parents, the resilience of his father, and the never-ending patience of Kate Moon. She'd waited for everyone, never given up on a single soul.

She'd always loved children, and she knew from the moment she held that little boy that she'd do her utmost to help her sister and Stefan. Stefan Archer was another constant. She was almost more proud of him and his transformation than anything. He'd learned to love, to trust, and she knew Kate was instrumental in that. "Where else would I be?" she smiled, watching her sisters eyes well up. "When two of your favourite people in the world have a baby, you visit." she laughed, looking at them together. They just seemed to fit. So many things about the development of their relationship had seemed like deal-breakers, things they couldn't possibly get past, but they were meant for each other; that she was sure of. This little boy would be raised by parents who were totally enamored and in love with each other. What child could want for more? He would have a huge support network, because Kate and Stefan were people you couldn't help loving and wanting to support. "That's my cue." she smiled. "I'm gonna head, but if you guys ever need anything, just let me know, whether it's a night off or, well, anything. I'll be there. I love ye." she smiled, almost shocking herself with the last three words. She took a step to hug her sister, careful of the baby, it was more of an arm-around-her-shoulder affair. She touched Bransons arm and said "See ya little man." before turning to Stefan and hugging him tight. "Congratulations. You're going to be amazing Stefan." she smiled. "I'll see ye soon." she grinned, before heading out the door to leave the little family to themselves.
