Jasper sat next to her on the bed and put his hand on her side. "I was joking. I thought you'd know by now not to take anything I say seriously." He smiled encouragingly.
Candy looked at him, "sorry but mom and dad always said those things and it made me feel so low" she said, scotting closer to him and resting her head in his lap.
Talk about timing He thought to himself. He smiled at Candy as he kissed her. She was so beautiful, he couldn't understand why he had tried to stay away from her.
Jasper opened his eyes and smiled down at Candy. Then he looked up at the ceiling. He didn't want to wake her up. She looked so peaceful in her sleep. So at ease with the world. He didn't want her to lose that.
