It felt like only yesterday Carter had been out here campaigning just like last time. Though his emotions were still raw and he wondered how he was going to get himself through the day, Carter knew that he just had to keep his focus on the task at hand. The people of New Zealand knew him, they knew his face. His personal life had been plastered on the front page of every paper in New Zealand after Kiera's death, part of the reason he'd almost become a recluse. He'd almost felt like they had disrespected her memory, all the things they were saying. He was sure it hadn't been great for the kids either.
