Teddy was so excited! His parents were away tonight and agreed to let him have friends over for a sleepover while they were away, and he couldn’t wait. Teddy had never hosted anyone from Hogwarts before and choosing which three friends to invite had been easy. Amodeus, because he was his best friend. Marley, because she was his best friend. And Audrey, because she was his best friend. Simple. Well, almost. He wasn’t entirely sure how comfortable Amodeus and Audrey would be in each other’s company, and he wondered if Marley and Audrey had ever spoken. But that wasn't Teddy's concern because how everyone chose to interact with each other was up to them.

His parents had set one rule which was three friends and no more. They didn’t want the house turning into a teen house party while they were gone. But honestly with a house like Teddy’s, even a small gathering felt like a party. He wandered through the house one last time, doing a recce before guests arrived. Perched on the hillside near Wellington, the modern magical home had floor to ceiling panoramic views of the pacific ocean. A large deck wrapped around the front of the house, complete with a hot tub tucked beneath a pergola draped in ever blooming magical vines.

Inside the house was as tidy and homely. The living room had squashy armchairs arranged around a fireplace. The kitchen was modern for a wizarding household and very muggle looking, aside from the families barn owl sleeping in the corner. But you hardly noticed the owl after seeing the shrine to Teddy on the wall. Moving photographs captured his life at every stage including baby Teddy cradled in proud parents arms, toddler Teddy covered in chocolate cake, first year Teddy wearing his Gryffindor robes, and older Teddy grinning in his Quidditch robes. Surrounding the pictures were framed report cards, all with perfect O’s, and even his Hogwarts acceptance letter was framed which just seemed excessive even to Teddy. It was obvious though how much his parents adored their only child.

By now, the house was exactly how he wanted it, and Teddy made his way to be near the front door so he wouldn't miss anyone knocking.

Audrey had been kind of tempted to get a nose piercing over the break and Dion had very nearly let her. It was one of the few times her parents had bothered to intervene, so perhaps the mild threat had been enough to get the desired effect. It wasn't like it was her fault Ravenclaw hadn't won their Quidditch matches. And yet, somehow, her parents acted like it reacted poorly on them and gave her the silent disappointed treatment. Hence the contemplation of a piercing. It was enough that her father had, on a rare moment he was actually home, insisted on taking her to Teddy's party as he suspected Dion would probably take her somewhere she wasn't meant to be. Which was probably true, but Audrey actually did want to see Teddy so she wasn't going to complain.

She knocked on the door in the middle of his spiel about 'now don't make a nuisance of yourself for once, behave yourself because it would reflect poorly on us if you were to cause problems' and the like. Audrey rolled her eyes. She didn't think the Pirrips had ever had anything to do with her parents and from what Teddy had ever said about them, they were too wrapped up in their own son to care.

Marley was glad that break was finally here. While yes she enjoyed school, she also was glad to have a break from it. However, she was happy at the fact that Teddy had invited her and Amodeus over for a sleepover, which Marley thought would be fun. Marley and Amodeus had decided to make their way to Teddy's house together. Marley wouldn't admit it out loud but while Amodeus was one of her closest friends, she knows how lost that boy can be. The Hufflepuff was glad that they had managed to find Teddy's house, smiling at the fact that they had made it. "I think this is the place!" Marley says happily to Amodeus as she makes her way up to the house. However, as she made her way to the front door of the house, Marley realised that they weren't alone. Audrey was at the front door. The Hufflepuff didn't really know the Ravenclaw. They had been in a few classes together and maybe a few year group study sessions but nothing other than that. "Hi, Audrey!" Marley says happily with a small wave, as she stood outside, assuming that the girl had already knocked on the door.

Amodeus was always excited to be invited anywhere. Especially if he had someone with him to keep from getting lost. Especially especially if that someone was Marley. He always loved spending time with Marley on breaks. He tried to hold her hand as she lead him around, looking about with a sappy grin and bright eyes. He hesitated a little as they arrived and Audrey was there, but Deus was sure that she wouldn't be too mean with Marley there, too. After a brief moment, he waved happily at her, smile as bright as ever. "Hi!" He greeted as well. "Is anyone else coming?" He asked, thinking about some of their other friends and wondering if they'd pop up, as well.

Teddy made an involuntary goofy throat gurgle when the knock sounded at the door. It felt as if all the excitement had collected in his oesophagus and he cleared his throat before answering the door so he didn't sound like a croaky frog greeting everyone. He pulled open the door, already smiling when he answered.

“Oh yay you’ve all arrived at the same time!” he said cheerfully, impressed with how punctual they'd all been, even Amodeus hadn't gotten lost finding his way here. “And hello, Mr. Beauchamp!” He instantly recognised Audrey’s dad because in Teddy's opinion, he looked exactly like a middle aged male version of Audrey. “Come in, guys,” he added, stepping aside to let his friends in. “I’ll give you a grand tour of the place.”

Audrey didn't have any strong opinions on Marley, she thought the girl was perfectly nice if a bit overly peppy. Amodeus was moronic, but as long as he didn't bother Audrey she didn't have a problem with him. Teddy seemed to have the brain cells of the three of them. She gave them both a small wave and a hello, while her father looked on sternly, waiting for the door. He gave Teddy barely more than a stern nod of acknowledgement and disapparated. Audrey exhaled with a groan and another roll of her eyes.

"Ugh. Sorry about him, he's being an absolute butthead," Audrey explained, giving a slightly apologetic smile. "Went on about having an important training camp to get to and this being a waste of his time but insisted on dropping me off just so he could complain about it...annnnnd so Dion wouldn't get me firewhiskey. Here. It's not firewhiskey." Audrey pulled a box out from behind her back, sure it wasn't exactly Teddy's birthday yet but a party was a party and her parents insisted it was rude not to bring something. She'd bought him a skiving snackbox as a present for next school year because OWLs were coming up and she figured even Teddy could use a means to get out of class. More pertinently, she'd brought general actually good snacks, like Honeydukes chocolates, figuring they'd probably go down well at a party. Sometimes she could be at least vaguely thoughtful. Still felt a bit awkward about hanging around with the other two, but she would just focus on Teddy and make this bearable.

Marley wasn't going to lie, she felt a bit awkward all of a sudden. As much as she was close with Amodeus and Teddy, she knew them well but didn't really know Audrey all that well. But she hoped that maybe this would help Marley possibly get to know Audrey a bit better. But who knew. The Hufflepuff smiled politely at Audrey's dad for a second before facing the door as they waited for the door to be answered.

After what felt like an eternity of awkwardness to Marley, the door had finally opened and grinned a little to see Teddy. "Hi Teddy," Marley says with a smile and a small wave as she walks inside the house. Teddy's house looked nice and was amazed with what she had seen so far. Marley chuckles a little at Audrey's statement about what she called her dad. She could understand how annoying dads could be at times. Marley had brought some snacks and such for the sleepover, them being tucked away in the backpack that Marley brought, but Marley decided not to mention that yet as Audrey had spoken. However, Marley noticed that Audrey had given something to Teddy. Marley frowned in confusion and guilt, confused because she didn't realise they were supposed to gift something for Teddy, but also guilty because she didn't gift Teddy anything.

Amodeus was looking around, he always liked seeing his friends houses. He hardly picked up on Marley feeling awkward, and instead just smiled at Audreys dad while he tried to decide how the two looked alike. Before he knew it, Teddy had opened the door. "Teddy bear!" He gave a bright smile, bouncing a little. He watched as Audrey brought out presents. "Ooh, what is it then?" He asked Audrey when she said it wasn't firewhiskey, hanging back so he wasn't pushing against the girls to get in and content to just follow the crowd wherever they were gunna go.

Teddy raised an eyebrow at the disapparition right in front of him then shrugged, turning to Audrey as she apologised and handed him a gift. “Oh shame, I was hoping for firewhiskey.” There was firewhisky in the house but his parents had locked all the alcohol away before leaving. It had been a precautionary measure, at least that’s what they called it, because apparently, Teddy could be reckless sometimes.

Teddy gave everyone hugs in turn as they came through the door, he stopped at Audrey and took a moment to actually thank her for the gifts. He hugged Amodeus last and said, "She got these" He handed the Skiving Snackbox to Amodeus to take a look at as he’d asked what it was. Teddy then led the group further into the house, gesturing as he went. “My parents are away, so we’ve got the run of the place. This is the sitting room. Make yourselves at home, there’s loads of food and drinks in the kitchen,” he showed them where the kitchen was. He was already enjoying having everyone over, "Andddd, I've set up study corner so we can all get a head start working on our OWLs together." He was just messing around, he hadn't done that.

Audrey bit back a sigh. She didn't understand why everyone else in the year was so weird, and why people acted so strangely around her, and Marley was definitely no exception. She probably just didn't get her. Her loss. "Next time, promise," she joked, a joke that was unfortunately something she would've probably committed to fully if not stopped. The gift was more just a thank you for actually being invited somewhere as much as it was her parents pushing her to it, but she wasn't going to say that when she did want to cultivate some form of air of being cool and mature and definitely not lonely.

Audrey looked around, taking in the sights of the house as they toured, stopping to raise her eyebrows at what could only be described as a Teddy shrine in the kitchen. Well, that explained a lot. Did his parents just live entirely through Teddy? Audrey felt a pang of jealousy, as much as she was mostly incredulous about it. She couldn't fully comprehend what it would be like to have parents like that, not considering the way her father was (which now everyone had seen at least slightly). But she was momentarily distracted by Teddy's OWL comment, and snorted with laughter. "Yeah, right. You start with homework and Marley and I get some beater practice in with some cushions," she suggested, raising an eyebrow and turning to the other girl. "Think the two of us would make him change his mind right quick." At least she was trying.

They walked further into the house, and it felt homely to her in someway. From a distance, she could see the shrine of Teddy she guessed. Marley knew she had to take a look at those photos later and maybe tease Teddy a little. But that could wait. The Hufflepuff whipped her head towards Teddy at the mention of OWLs and starts giggling along with Audrey. "Yeah, I don't think so, let's not think about that, for now" Marley says with a shake of her head to Teddy's comment. Marley knew Teddy was most likely joking about studying for OWLs, but she wanted to play along while also not wanting to really think about OWLs if she was being honest. She smiled at Audrey's comment, nodding her head in agreement. "I'm sure we'd be able to knock that idea out of his brain with our beater skills for sure," Marley says with a smile and nod, ever so slowly warming up to the girl. To be honest, she didn't really have any sort of issue with Audrey, more so of the fact that she felt that she was a bit intimidated by the Ravenclaw.

Amodeus followed along with his friends, looking around and skipping a bit, carrying the box he'd been given almost reverently. He knew better than to take any, even if some of them looked like they might be yummy. He was only half listening, and he turned to look as they mentioned owls. "The birds? Whats wrong with them?" He asked in a purely Amodeus comment. He was open for whatever they were doing, though he wasn't sure he'd be any good at it.

Teddy glanced between Audrey and Marley, a look indignation on his face at their teasing. "Fine, no OWLs," he said, his tone playful as he crossed his arms. "But don't come crying to me when you've failed to pre- huh?"

He turned his attention to Amodeus, whose comment made him burst into laughter. "Not those owls. OWLs. Ordinary Wizarding Levels." He motioned towards the living room. "Alright, enough standing around. Let’s see if you two really have these beater skills you keep going on about!" He said to the girls, "You playing too Amodeus?"

Honestly, Audrey deserved a medal for not expressing her disbelief that Amodeus could go through life without a brain. Part of her felt like he should be studied, because frankly it was a miracle he'd made it this far. Perhaps it had something to do with the poor standards of the school. She simply raised an eyebrow and bit her tongue, wanting to be civil for Teddy's sake. Audrey picked up a pillow, toying with it for a moment as she looked between the other three, a small smirk playing on her lips. "Think fast, fly boy," Audrey quipped, thinking she sounded way cooler than she likely did, and hurling the pillow at Teddy.

Marley almost facepalmed at Amodeus' question, shaking her head at Amodeus' question. "The exams Amodeus, not the birds" Marley says with a shake of her head, agreeing with Teddy as he explains what they had been talking about. The Hufflepuff followed Teddy to the living room. She laughed out loud as Audrey threw a pillow towards Teddy. Marley picked up a pillow nearest her, a mischievous grin appearing on her face. "PILLOW FIGHT!" Marley calls out, before lightly hitting the nearest person with the pillow, hoping they hadn't minded her starting a pillow fight. Lightly just incase they didn't want to do a pillow fight.

Amodeus nodded along, like it was the most obvious answer (even if he had been the one that hadn't had it) and hummed. "Right, of course. Why do they name the tests after birds?" He thought aloud. "That seems silly. Is the community at large so insecure about the magic that everything has to sound magic-y?" He mused, but was cut off as Marley hit him in the face with a pillow. He giggled, grabbing another pillow and running for her. "Pillow fiiiiight!" He tried to agree, but he tripped and hit the ground a bit harshly. He rolled, laughing and just letting himself lay there a few moments.

Teddy barely had time to react before a pillow hit him straight at his face, he caught it with both hands, lowered it from his face and looked around. The next thing he knew a pillow fight had started. Marley was attacking Amodeus, Amodeus had somehow found himself on the floor, and Teddy, operating purely on instinct, took hold of his pillow from two corners and swung it straight over his head and back at Audrey. It was payback and it felt great.
