Ezra had received some rather troubling news at the end of term just before he was set to travel home for the holidays. His grandfather as it turned out was rather ill and the stubborn old goat has chosen to hide it from everyone until it had reached a point that he had to be rushed into the hospital. Naturally at such times certain branches of the family decided to forget that they hated each other and rushed over to visit. This of course meant that Ezra was having to put up with his brother James and their parents. Their's was a strange relationship to put it mildly, from a young age Ezra had been more like his grandfather than his siblings and his parents which always put him at odds with them. It reached a point they couldn't be under the same roof, so when it came to him starting school, at Durmstrang like his grandfather not the cesspit called Hogwarts that let anyone in, Ezra moved in with his grandparents despite his mother's protests.
Now it was the first time he had seen his family since the summer after his first year and he was already sick of their fussing. James had filled him in on his life at Hogwarts and it made him sick. It appeared he spent his days arguing with one girl and chasing the other. Or was he chasing them both? He didn't care enough to really pay attention. A few days with his family and he had already had more than his fill so he left the hospital and wondered out into the muggle world. The streets of New York were as crowded as always so Ezra blended into the crowd and went to see what trouble he could find.
