Open Trick or Treat?

The Great Hall looked even more magnificent than usual. Just right for Darlessa's ghost costume tonight. Of course, she wore a detailed and creepy costume - so that it fits the Halloween theme. Hogwarts seemed so wonderfully decorated this year that Darlessa, upon entering the Great Hall, was quick to admire every decoration that came her way.

She studied the costumes others had provided with interest and laughed when she saw a Gryffindor holding his own head. It was scary. Not addressing anyone in particular, the girl went to the snack tables, because as usual, those who came to the ball unaccompanied had to hang out there. Grabbing, sipping, and putting back the glass of pumpkin juice, she surveyed the snacks she had provided with appreciation, but then lifted the basket of sweets she had brought with her higher so that the others could hear and see better what was on offer to her. ”Trick or treat, anyone?”
Her candy basket contained two different types of candy bars - dark chocolate and pink chocolate with a little white chocolate flower. The girl hoped that somewhere in this ball there would be someone who would try her sweets.

Out of Character:

Said bars are two different candies with different effects: dark chocolate with a fire-breathing effect and pink chocolate that makes bubbles fly out of your mouth when eaten.

 

[Astraea Vale]

Halloween was by far the best time of the year. All things spooky spoke to Astraea and the majority of her family, and Halloween was always done right by the Vales. She severely hoped that Hogwarts would step up to the challenge. Though Astraea wasn't much of a dancer, it sounded like there was going to be a fright house of sorts, and she couldn't resist something like that. She had heard her dorm people (because they definitely were not her 'mates'), talking about going in cat costumes, which she thought was rather pathetic. Astraea decided she was not going to dress up this year, rather she would just attend and observe, and hopefully get involved in some sort of scary occasion. Besides, people had told her she was scary enough.

Astraea was mildly impressed as she entered the Great Hall. There were definitely some aspects she enjoyed of the decorating, but something definitely should have jumped out and tried to scare her as she entered. She supposed that would be in the spook tent, in case cry-babies got scared. As Astraea walked around, she looked at the different costumes people had donned. Some were somewhat spookish, but some were also stupid. One that had caught her eye was a type of ghost, standing near the snack table. Astraea approached her slowly, before hearing what she was calling out. She stopped in front of her, looking at the basket of candy, before looking back at the girl. "Trick." She said plainly.

It was a little noisy at the snack table, but she raised her voice more so others could hear her. It was important for her to be noticed and appreciated. And her sweets promised a couple of creative effects that could make the evening more fun for someone.

And there was the first candidate! This girl looked like Darlessa automatically took it for the scary costume she was wearing. She really looked scary. After hearing the girl's choice, saying that she wanted a trick, Darlessa threw her hands in the air as if she were haunted and snorted. That was her idea of a trick answer. After that, the hufflepuff giggled at her own performance and held out a basket of sweets towards the girl. "Try one of my sweets! They have a special effect that will make you laugh.”
Those sweets were of course nothing extreme, just a fire-breathing effect and a flying bubble trick.

 

[Astraea Vale]

Astraea stared impassively as she watched the ghost snort, holding her hands up. Although the ghost looked somewhat impressive, the giggle that emitted from the girl's mouth completely shattered the illusion. Astraea looked from the treats to the girl, when she explained them. "Do you have any that will make me - or someone else - scream?" She'd prefer that over laughter.

Her ghostly appearance really didn't match the happy mood that filled the hufflepuff, knowing that someone would try her special sweets. Maybe she should be a little more sullen and quiet to match the costume, but Darlessa was no actress and she smiled like the sunshine of May. Besides, the other girl looked quite down-to-earth to match her scary costume. ”You have a nice costume, by the way!” Even though it might actually be her casual clothes, Darlessa seriously thought it was meant to be a dark wizard outfit or something else she couldn't think of.

”Then you should try my dark chocolate. It will make you cringe and maybe even scream a little, if you eat it and start spitting fire.”
She held out the basket of promised chocolate that had a fire effect that was definitely safe for health but would make someone open their mouths in surprise or even scream.
