Transfiguration 5:2

Professor Lyra Potter was sitting at her desk, waiting patiently for her students to all arrive. On every desk there was a chalk board eraser. Some students seem puzzled when they noticed them, but no one commented. The woman smiled excitedly as she looked at her watch, deciding it was time to start the lesson.

"Let's get right to work, shall we? We are going to begin to vanish things this week. Shouldn't be too hard to practice on these - unlike future lessons, this week we will be working on things that don't move." She said with a hint of mystery, letting them wonder what they would be doing later in the term. Walking around the classroom, Lyra looked at her students, motioning to the object in front of them. "So, we are starting with erasers and will move up from there. This is a pretty straight forward spell, it just takes a bit more magic to work it than your normal transfiguration." Having made it back to her desk, Lyra picked up an eraser.

"The wand movement is the standard three tap method. You do not need to say the item that is being vanished, but you do need to focus on it. If you are not concentrating on the object, you may vanish the wrong thing." She said, then demonstrated the spell to them. Tapping the eraser three times, she then said "Evanesco!" and made the eraser disappear. Smiling brightly, she looked up to the class and spoke again. "There are enough extra erasers for you to practice again if you wish. I will be walking around if you need any help."

With that, she allowed the students to begin to work.

Homework: RP the lesson.

Aroha noticed the chalkboard erasers, figuring they must be vanishing those. Which was kind of funny - vanishing something that erases things - she saw the link. Aroha watched the professor demonstrate, then tried it out for herself. "Evanesco!" she said, tapping three times. To her surprise, it vanished immediately. Huh. Maybe she wasn't too bad at this. That was a nice change. She gave it another go on another chalkboard eraser and found it harder the second time. That didn't really make sense, but maybe she was just complacent the second time around. It took her a few more tries to get it right, figuring now that the first time had been a fluke or that her wand was acting up again. With the lesson over, Aroha thanked the professor and went on her way.

Apolline walked into the transfiguration classroom and sat down in the same spot as she had opted to in the time previously. She looked up at the professor as the woman got started and began going over the spell they were going to be covering. Apolline nodded along, keenly listening to what the professor was telling them about the spell. Though she was then glad that they were allowed to try the spell themselves. She took an eraser and took her wand. She pointed her wand at it and then did the motion- tapping thrice - and then said , ”Evanesco,” she did the spell a couple of times before it worked, and then practiced it over and over until the lesson was wrapped up and they were dismissed.

Kyousuke knew he had this in the bag. He'd been practicing, after all. He walked in with his head held high and took his seat, ready for the lesson. It was a pretty basic introduction, but they were starting with the basics after all. Kyousuke took down some notes just to be safe and then took a black board eraser to vanish. "Evanesco!" he said, tapping three times and watching it vanish. He did this a few more times to perfection and he was very pleased with himself. With the lesson drawing to a close, Kyousuke packed up his things and went to go study and practice some more.

The first week back of classes was no different to what Violet expected. They already had some homework assigned to them. Some classes were just very boring and not enjoyable and she would always much rather be on her broom, enjoying the fresh air, than locked up attempting to soak in material that she didn’t care about. At least she had finally made a permanent position on the team, after her third try-out. She loved being keeper and was just excited to see where it took her. The Ravenclaw hoped that her next lessons would be at least somewhat interesting as she packed her backpack and began heading to them.

Violet entered the Transfiguration classroom looking forward to learning how to vanish things. She took a seat near the front of the room and was quick to figure out that they would be vanishing the chalk board erasers in front of them. When instructed, Violet took out her wand and pointed it at the eraser. She used the three tap method before saying the incantation. "Evanesco!" she said, imagining it wasn't there anymore. But it was quite hard to imagine it when it was literally right in front of her. The first try obviously didn't work, so she tried just imagining the colour of the desk that was underneath it, however this still wasn't working. After a couple of more tries, she managed to do it and she beamed at her success. She thanked the professor at the end of the lesson before heading out.
