Fleur got dressed in one of her most extravagant gowns yet and finished the touches of her hair and makeup before she made her way up from the Slytherin dorms to the Yule Ball in the Great Hall. She was attending this year with another Prefect, a boy in a similar predicament as she. Her fondness for flirting had landed her the attention of a man, not just some school boy. He was really only a few year older than she was, but she prided herself for finding a guy worth showing off to her family. Her date, was dating a girl who had already left the school. She knew it was silly but she could hardly find comfort in going to the Yule Ball with just some other girls who were without dates. Fleur managed to convince Jerara to attend with her and now she stood outside the hall waiting not very patiently for him to arrive and escort her into the Ball. She could hear the music already playing and plenty of people were already enjoying the ball. Her impatience grew more rapidly as she spotted her own friends waving to her and going into the ball.

Jerara had been rather surprised that he actually had a date to this yuleball, with Ellie out of the picture and his interests not peaked anywhere else, Jerara had thought that this would be a lonely yuleball, but it wouldn’t be in the end. He’d had a conversation with a girl, Fleur, a slytherin prefect in the year above him, who much like him had been left at school while the other had needed to leave. He had thought it would be good, it would be nice. Jerara hadn’t made too much of an effort. He was dressed semi-casual, he hadn’t thought he would need to dress too much. The teen arrived at the great hall, a little later than he had expected but he noticed Fleur immediately and maybe got the impression he should’ve made more of an effort, maybe she wouldn’t mind too much. Jerara maybe should’ve spoken to Tristan, Tristan was better at this stuff than he was. ”Fleur, sorry I’m a bit late,” he greeted her as he walked over, he wasn’t sure if he should compliment her. Or if he should just say nothing, he wasn’t sure if he should be the one to compliment her, she looked stunning, it was a beautiful gown, and she had clearly put a lot of effort into it. ”I don’t know if you want to dance or get something to drink first,” the prefect suggested open to do whatever she had wanted.

Fleur was growing tired of waiting, but as soon as her date arrived she knew she'd be waiting even longer still. The outfit he had chosen looked more like a boy going to town to purchase milk for his mother, than a guy on a date with a beautiful young lady. Her lips pursed as she looked him over. "You know, most guys would put more effort in their appearance when on a date. I do believe we said this was a date, not just pals hanging out, did we not?" She said her eyes fierce and eyebrows raised in question. Her pink gown flowed as she moved closer to Jerara. "It is fine, I can wait inside for you to return in something, perhaps more suitable for a ball, this isn't the movie theaters after all, people will see you on this date." Fleur said and soon after turned her back to him and moved towards the doors of the Great Hall. She stopped as she got to the threshold and turned to look at her partner for the evening and then pointedly looked at the stairs. She knew he was too nice of a guy to get very upset at her, after all it was clear she had put a lot of effort in her looks tonight and he had not. She knew he'd go and change, at least she was 94% certain of it.

Jerara hadn’t expected Fleur’s reaction, but he had also thought that he was dressed a bit more casually, certainly far more casually than she was. So, hearing her tell him to go get changed was not that bad, he gave a little laugh, shrugged and did just that. He moved more quickly, changing into a proper black suit, a well fitted black suit that he’d gotten with some of the money from his out of school job. He was no more than ten minutes getting changed, and arrived back at the hall, dress far more for the occasion than he had been. He found her easily, since her dress and her entire person was the much bolder personality than most. He walked over and cleared his throat, ”Is this more what you were expecting?” he had a little smile on his face, since he’d had that the whole time, and even gave a little twirl so that she could see the whole outfit. His hair was made more messy than tame, but it worked well he thought with the rest of him. He didn’t even mind going to get change, though maybe he should’ve consulted with Tristan before he’d first gotten ready. Without Ellie he wasn’t actively trying for anything or going for anyone else, so he hadn’t thought it necessary to make an effort, but maybe it always was? Maybe it was always right to at least try. There was more to life than his books and it would probably be best to always try his best and do his best like with his classes or his reading.

Fleur waited, talked to a friend in passing for a moment and mostly just stared at the stairs waiting for Jerara to return. She knew her life was probably going to be spent waiting for a guy so this was good practice. Her mother had always told her to never be harsh towards a man, so she did feel a little bad for her reaction to Jerara. She had thought about apologizing but that wasn't her way, she wasn't her mother. And she didn't fear Jerara becoming angry with her or anything of that sort. "Yes, it's very nice," she said with a pleasant smile when her date reappeared by her side. He looked much more put together this time around the outfit fitting him much better than the first. She was sure some girls wouldn't have minded his first outfit, thinking it cool or something. "Would you like to dance or eat first?" Fleur asked taking charge of their date that evening. She knew the night would have plenty of both and she didn't mind either, of course they'd have to spend some time talking to their friends as well, after all break was starting and they'd be apart for a few weeks.

Jerara was pleased when she liked his outfit, he was definitely right to have the other outfit and he should’ve worn that in the first place, but he hadn’t thought about it. He gave the girl a smile at her question, ”Dance, I can show you my moves, make up for my bad outfit,” Jerara had always been a relatively good dancer, it was one of the few spare things he was good at, much like how he’d been good at music in his younger years before hogwarts but he hadn’t really been interested in that in the years interim. The boy offered his hand to her so that they could get to dancing. He didn’t know if this was what she’d want, but he figured that this was technically a date, even if he wasn’t interested in her like that and the same back so it was quite nice, it was a no pressure date, they could spend time together and then with their respective friends. He thought about trying to get Tristan’s gaze, almost to show off Fleur to him. To show that he could have another partner, that his life wasn’t just the books he read and the work that he did, though this had just sort of fallen into his lap, but that didn’t matter, all that matter was he’d gotten a date for this thing.
