Hera had transferred from Beauxbaton's to Ilvermorny at the start of the latest year without telling anyone in her family. They had only learned during the winter break when she had come home and spoken about her time at the new school and how everything was. Her parents, as per usual, were indifferent. Her mother had said something along the lines of "Well if that makes you happy, you know best Hera." They expected nothing short of perfection from their oldest daughter, but they expected her to do it on her own. She was the oldest after all. The Wampus had expected her sisters, mainly Mania, to be the most upset so it had come as no surprise when the young Gryffindor had thrown a fit about not being told such things. After all she had changed to another continent.

Now that Hera was back again with her family she was looking forward to seeing her sisters, to hear all about their lives in the last few months since they had seen each other last. Though it had already been some years of Hera being at school she never quite got used to the fact that she'd leave her sisters behind, but now they were one by one setting off themselves so she felt less bad. Though at times she felt guilty, for being continents away especially given Mania had to figure it all out on her own. They had sent owls back and forth but there was only so much you could do through letters. "Menace! Gaia?" She called out from the bottom of the stairs of their house of the season. Their parents had never been good at settling down, they were flighty at best and thus everytime she returned from school it seemed to be to a different house.

The last year at school had been challenging, both in the best and worst way possible. Nia had had to figure it out mostly on her own, of course there were the Professors she could have asked for help, Prefects too, even her Head of House, but they weren't quite like Hera. Not that the Gryffindor would ever admit that out loud to her older sister, gods no. Quite honestly she was just glad she'd be there for when Gaia started at the school, even if her sister would be sorted into a different house she'd still be in the same building and Gaia would know to find Mania were she ever to need help with anything. That was how it had always been, the five sisters relied on each other, or more so on their oldest and second oldest one even if Mania wasn't always the most reliable, but they were all they had. Of course they had their parents but they were quite indifferent at best. They weren't bad parents no, they were just not what the brunette would call reliable or good parents either.

Hearing her beloved (not) nickname called from the bottom of the stairs by nobody other than the oldest of the five well she supposed now six, since her mum had hid her pregnancy during Christmas and Mania had come back from school only to find that oh! Their family now included yet another daughter. Stomping down the stairs she watched as Gaia exited the backyard, her hands covered in charcoal and some of it on the tip of her nose too. "What is it Rah?" The Gryffindor asked batting her eyelashes up at the oldest and leaning against the railing of the stairs.

Gaia had spent the morning on their backyard, anywhere to get away from her sisters, most of all the youngest one. She hated noise, hated it more than she could ever begin to explain, which was why it was quite ironic for the fates to place her in a family with now 6 daughters, a house that had never known silence. Unlike her two older sisters, Hera who was the family epitome of perfection. Always well behaved, always on time, always dressed in her best, always put together and taking care of everything and everyone. Mania who was nothing short of a tornado. Always causing trouble, always finding new things and always trying to make friends with everyone. Never quiet and always a force to be reckoned with and someone you couldn't miss. Gaia was the quiet one, she enjoyed her peace. She always joked about how she was sort of the one cursed with the middle child syndrome, always forgotten in the background and always the least memorable one, but in reality it wasn't a curse. It was a blessing if anything, that way she could do her own thing in a different way from Mania whose idea of doing her own thing was to borderline run away for hours at a time, only to be scolded at by their oldest sister and on a good day by their parents. No Gaia's idea of doing her own thing was sitting in the grass, perhaps by a lake or in the middle of the forest, with her notebook and drawing.

That was precisely what the 11-year-old had been doing just now too. She had been sat at the backyard of this house, no not a home but a house. She had been using charcoal, one of the supplies she'd been playing around with lately, drawing sketches of animals. The charcoal was quite messy, so it was no surprise her hands were covered in it as she walked inside after hearing Hera call her and Nia, who was stood at the bottom of the stairs with the oldest one. Both of them looking at her and then making a face, for whatever reason. As she passed a mirror Gaia was quick to realize they were making that face because of the charcoal stain on her nose, oh well. "Well what is it?" She asked quietly, taking a tissue from her pocket and trying to swipe at the charcoal, only smearing it further.

Hera watched as Nia made her way down the stairs, she was quite proud of her. The girl Nia had become while at school, she had found her way and made it through her first year, on her own. Smiling at the Gryffindor she booped her nose and shook her head. "Aren't you just always so excited to be around me?" She asked her sister before turning to the third born. Gaia had her hair in a bun, there were fly aways everywhere as a reminder of the fact that she'd been sitting at the backyard focusing on whatever piece of art now sat between the pages of her notebook, oh and one couldn't not notice the charcoal coating the young girls hands and face. Hera grimaced at the sight, hoping Gaia wouldn't go around touching walls and what not. It would surely leave smears of it everywhere and while all it took was a flick of a wand from one of her parents, she'd still rather not listen to the complaints of them about the messiness. That was what you got when you had six kids after all, couldn't expect them to keep everything squeaky clean 24/7.

"Well then, now that both of you are here I want to talk to you about something." Hera would make sure that the two younger girls would be not at each others throats, but remain as each others support next year. So that they'd have each other around and that Gaia would perhaps have easier time settling in knowing one of her big sisters was there looking out for her and if she ever needed anyone to go to she had someone. The Wampus had no doubt Mania would do that on her own, look after the younger of course, but she couldn't help but worry. So it was best to sit them both down and have a chat about it. "So, Menace once school starts Gaia will obviously come with you, I know you'll look after her but I want you both to promise to write to me if you need to talk or well really anything. I'd love to hear about your years, other than whenever we are back at home with everyone else." Hera spoke as the trio settled down in the living room. Looking at each sister she wondered where all the years had gone. Both of them off to school soon and while there were still a few of the sisters left at home, she couldn't help but feel a bit sad about everyone growing up. Soon all of them would have their own lives and wouldn't need Hera anymore, she'd still always be there and always would look after the younger ones but eventually they'd all find their own people. One had already began on it and Gaia would follow soon enough.

Mania flicked Hera's hand away and attempting a growl while also making a disgusted groan. In all honesty she didn't mind the boop on the nose but she couldn't very well show that she liked these types of shows of affection. Hera would never let her live it down. Rolling her eyes at the older girl's comment she followed on her path towards the couch. Hera was clearly set out on some mission and Nia was part terrified part curious to see what that might be. Nudging Gaia she whispered to the redhead, the only child in the family to have such hair. Apparently there were others before with the redhead genes, but it had gradually bled out of the pool or whatever happened with genes. Mania didn't really know, no she just knew now how to make a quill into a spoon, well sort of she hadn't been too good at transfiguration this year, nor any other of her subjects either. "Don't touch anything before washing your hands Gaipoo, you know how mum gets about mess..." The Gryffindor whispered to her younger sister.

As soon as Nia had sat down Hera started her speech and all the second year could do was let out a deep sigh. Of course their big sister, bordering on mama bear would jump onto the case and make sure they'd be looking out for each other. As though Mania hadn't already planned to be there for whatever Gaia might need, every step of the way. She had had hard time adjusting to the new life herself, there was no way she was leaving her younger sister to survive it all alone. "Yes mum, trust me I have thought this through and I have no intention of not being there for little Gaipoo, yeah? We'll be alright and yes yes I'll write, I think? Maybe, perchance, probably not you know me but you know you can always send me letters or I don't know go crazy and send a Howler? That ought to do it, would be interesting." Honestly others might find the idea of a Howler daunting, embarrassing even but to Mania it seemed sort of funny.

Gaia glared at her older sister who just used the stupid nickname she hated. It made her sound like a baby and meanwhile she was well aware she was younger than both of them and therefore seen as a baby in some aspects it was rather unnecessary. "Bugger off Menace or I'll put spiders into your trunk before we leave for Hogwarts." She'd do it too, they both knew it and Gaia liked to think that was the reason why Mania hurried away and to the safety of their big sister. However she did take much more caution to not touch anything after the comment, she knew how their mum got and would like to avoid it very much.

Sitting down she stared at Hera who went into full mama bear mode. "Make her swear a blood oath or something while you are at it Hera, besides I'm sure I can take care of myself just fine. While you two were gone this year someone had to hold down the fort," Merlin knew she would of rather not spent so much time with her little sisters but someone had had to, honestly all the noise they made was nearly driving her insane already. "Matter of fact, I think I'll be glad to be gone it's so loud here all the time. At least then I'll be able to get my own time." Gaia retorted, of course she'd still hang out with Nia, maybe, probably at some point at least but she also would enjoy her freedom to the fullest. "I'll write you a letter, no Howlers for me. Ever. Or next time I see you I'm mixing water into your foundation, baby powder into your powder thing and putting some of mum's potions into your mascara and lip gloss." By the look on both her sisters faces Gaia was pleased and sure her point had been received.

Hera hid her horrified expression with a mere grimace, seriously who had put these two into the same family. Both of them were horrid in their own ways, one was loud and proud about her menacing ways and the other hid it in plain sight. You'd never believe sweet Gaia would be the first one to threaten your peace. "Right since both of you are so ready to swear you got it covered I trust you do. You'll be absolutely fine, but I still expect letters and updates on fun things happening." She gave both the girls a pointed look, but especially focusing it on Mania. "Gaia no need to threaten with such extremes thank you, you'll do well to stay away from my makeup and anything else that is mine or you'll be reminded which one of us is the older one. I might be nice to you but I still hold authority over you and played a big part at raising you so do not test my patience Gaia." Hera rarely played the older sister card in her opinion, though if you asked Mania she'd say she used that card quite often but then again Menace was dramatic at best. While Hera wouldn't be cruel to her younger sisters she wouldn't watch them disturb each others or her peace. Someone in the house had to try and keep the peace whenever they could. Even if it meant she had to be the boring one to scold them.

Spiders? Yeah no thanks, Gaia truly was a vile creature at times and Mania tended to forget her thorns when away fro a longer period of time. Who wouldn't she looked so.... Innocent? And then she threatened with such foul actions, spiders in trunks and potions and water in makeup. Perhaps school would do her some good and she'd learn some better ways of channeling her distaste, though that would take away the fun from their interactions probably. You win some, you lose some was what Mania concluded from this train of thought.

Sighing yet again the Gryffindor threw her head back, only when her face was facing the ceiling did she roll her eyes. Yada yada yada, here they go again. "At least, when one day IF you have your own kids you'll have had plenty of practice with us. So who's reaaalllyy doing who a service here? Also did you guys know my friend has a dog at school! Finfin, I probably mentioned him, he has the cutest dog called Lemon but I call her Lemlem. She's the ultimate Gryffindor princess!" Honestly nobody in the whole house of Gryffindors held even a flicker to that dog, she was the chosen one of the decade. Such a cutie too. "So is the mother done reprimanding her children?" Mania shot a look towards Hera, hoping this would be it.
