The new year had begun, and Birdie was nervous. She ought not to be seeing as she had already made it through one year of Hogwarts, but being away from it for a couple of weeks had made her anxious to return. To ease her worries, she set out to the great lawn and found a large tree with a large scattering of beautiful daisies near it’s trunk. She sighed, remembering how large and beautiful Hogwarts actually was, and took a seat on the grass. It was a little wet, but she didn’t care too much.
Running her hands across the daisies, she randomly pulled and admired them, and then threw them into the wind to watch them fall softly a few meters away. The chill of the air made her hug her jumper closer around her as she gazed at the crisp morning blue sky, it was relaxing, she had forgotten that. Slowly but surely, as she eased into the grass and sky, she didn’t feel as nervous. It was like her medicine, nature, something she could always depend on to calm her.

Lizzie was unsure if she was happy to be back at school or not. Sure she had her twin, but she didn't really have many friends around. The Hufflepuff had decided to make her way towards the great lawn. She noticed that daises were slowly starting to grow across some parts of the great lawn, which meant that it was around springtime. Lizzie saw there was a girl nearby, but was a little nervous to interact with the girl, so she decided to sit by one of the daisy patches on the grass and create a small flower crown.

After a couple of minutes of relaxation, Birdie noticed a girl sit close-by. The lawn was quite empty, and she seemed to be a little lonely so Birdie took it upon herself to make a new friend.
As she made her way towards the girl, she noticed her picking some daisies and twisting it together. Birdie hadn’t clue what she was doing, narrowing her eyes in confusion. “Hi,” Birdie introduced, a bright smile plastered on her face. She twisted her hands behind her back, slightly nervous to talk to a stranger randomly, “What are you making?

Lizzie was in the middle of adding a third daisy onto her flower crown when she heard a voice nearby. Lizzie went wide-eyed nervously, before slowly looking up to see who it was. She noticed it was from a girl from one of her classes, though she didn't really know who she was. "Oh... Um... I'm making a flower crown" Lizzie said a little nervously and shyly, unsure of what to do next.

Cool!” Birdie replied, feeling kind of stupid for not realising sooner. She had heard of flower crowns but hadn’t really gotten into it. Without an invitation, Birdie sat beside her and picked up a daisy, holding it up confused, “So, how do you make them?
Birdie hoped that she wasn’t being too forward as the girl seemed kind of nervous. But she seemed lonely and Birdie had never met her before although she had noticed her in some of her classes, so she wanted to keep her company while it was quiet and peaceful outside.

Lizzie smiled shyly as the girl thought that it was cool. Of course, making flower crowns were cool. It was one of the best things to do. The Hufflepuff didn't mind when the girl sat down next to her. She smiled nervously at the girl's question. "Oh... well... you start off like this-" Lizzie starts off saying, before pulling a few daisies and slowly showing the girl how to put the daisies together to make a flower crown.

It seemed easy enough for Birdie, following the girls instructions, but when she tried to do it alone, she somehow mucked up. She didn’t know how she mucked up but now the crown had an unaestheticly pleasing daisy knotted together. One she accidentally snapped the stem off. After a few more tries, and help from her new friend, Birdie felt it was time for a proper introduction, “I’m Birdie. What’s your name?

Elizabeth patiently took the time to help the other girl by teaching and showing her how to make flower crowns. Lizzie didn't mind. She was happy to teach people how to make flower crowns. She had enjoyed them, and she had hoped that other people liked to do it too. Lizzie shyly smiled as the other girl introduced herself. "Hi, Birdie. I'm Lizzie"

"Pretty name," Birdie commented. After a couple of minutes successful crown making, well not so successful on Birdie's part, Birdie decided to break the silence, "So, a new year, huh? Excited or no?"
Birdie knew what her reply would be, excited and nervewracking.
The Great Lawn was still a bit empty but a few students had begun scattering across the lawn, moseying around. The slightly damp floor had started soaking into Birdie's pants but she gave it no thought, awaiting the reply of Lizzie.

Elizabeth smiled a little when Birdie complimented her name. She much preferred Lizzie to Elizabeth. It sounded too formal to her. "Your name is pretty too. It's quite unique" Lizzie says softly. She then shyly smiled at Birdie and nodded a little. "I guess so? How about you?" Lizzie says with a small smile. As she continued on with a few more flower crowns. She also gave a few tips to the Gryffindor girl, hoping that it would help her a little more. Lizzie didn't mind the girl's company. Birdie seemed nice.
