Lily had a letter in her hand. She was unsure for why she was even sending a letter to the people who'd sent her to Hogwarts. Only her dad really, her brother had been way too supportive of the prospect of years without dance. Lily laughed to herself. Her brother was terrible at dance. Awful. He was better at other sports, but just watching him dance was funny. The only reason he attended the school Lily had, was because he was related to her and he was the son of there parents. He was unfortunately also an elite dancer. If only he could actually dance. It was the middle of the day as Lily climbed the steps to the owlery. She didn't have an owl. She hadn't wanted one. But she had to use one, there was no post office. This was what she had to put up with. Lily opened the door to the owlery, and regretted her decision to coming. She looked down at her perfect clothes (Without the jacket). They'd get dirty in all this mess. Lily quickly chose the first school owl she could find, and quickly attached the letter to the owl. She sent it flying off, out one of the windows. She stood at the window, making sure none of her clothes touched anything and watched the owl as it flew off into the distance. Apart from the mess the owls created they were amazing creatures.

Jessica finally gave in and wrote a letter to her parents. Really, if they had wanted her to send one so bad, they should have mentioned it in their past two letters. Jess stepped carefully up the steps to the Owlery. It was somewhere she hadn't been yet in the huge place that is Hogwarts. She had her letter clutched in her hand. She had explained as little as she could without straight up offending her parents. As annoying as they were she still loved them. Letting a yawn escape Jess pushed the door open and looked upon the room with a mixture of distaste and awe. Owls were amazing creatures and Jess liked most animals, but the room was a mess. Didn't someone clean up the owl droppings every once in a while? Shaking her head she watched where she stepped as she looked around for Taylor's new owl. Not being able to spot it she headed to a snowy school owl. While attaching the letter, she noticed the other girl in the room. She thought she had seen her around, maybe she was a fellow Slytherin.

After tying the letter to the owls leg and sending it away, Jess watched it go for only a moment. She then turned to the other girl. If she was a fellow Slytherin, maybe she wasn't too bad. "This place really needs a clean." She said casually, reaching over to stroke a tawny owls breast with one finger.

Lily looked round to the sound of someone else speaking. She looked straight to the girls clothes and had to admit they weren't awful and then she nodded. She couldn't help but agree whole heartedly. This place so badly needed cleaning. It was understandable that it was this messy, but it could be at least be washed every so often. Like every week, maybe everyday. They were witches and wizards, how long did cleaning take. Lily faked a smile to the girl. The smile didn't seem to be fake, but it was.

"Yes it does." Lily said firstly before holding her hand out for the girl to shake. "Livia Delaney. First year, Slytherin."

Jess made a noise that sounded like a scoff but was actually an agreement when the girl confirmed that the place did need a wash. Jessica was taken by a little surprise when the girl stuck out her hand, but Jessica had to grin when the girl said she was Slytherin, that clearly made her worth Jess' time. For now at least. Grasping the offered hand Jessica answered. "Jessica Mercer, first year Slytherin." She made sure she said her last name with pride. Even though she wasn't pure-blooded herself, she still had her Father's pure-blood name, which was still a big deal to Jessica.

Lily shook the girls hand. She figured from the way that the girl said her last name, that she was one of the people from her house, who were just magical blood, the Elite of the magical world. Lily knew she could never tell these people she was in fact muggleborn. Which was why she'd changed Livia to being a half blood or mixed blood. Lily couldn't figure out which. She wanted to get away from this owl place. It was truly sickening.

"It's very nice to meet you Jessica. Always good to meet other Slytherins." Lily said with a not obviously fake smile. "Would you like to go somewhere else, this place is going to make my clothes filthy."

"It's nice to meet you too and I definitely agree." She said, thinking she could come to like this girl. At her next comment, Jessica nodded. "I think that would be preferred." She admitted, looking through a window in the Owlery. She had come here and done what she needed to do. Now she had no need to stick around in all the owl droppings. Walking over to the door she pushed it open, not waiting to see if the other girl followed.
