This broken heart flying on these bitter wings

Chantal Himmelreich closed her bright jade eyes, long, soft, black eye lashes rested on her flushed cheeks. A stray tear fell from her eyes, trailing down her cheek. Smiling to herself she plastered a fake smile on trying to keep her lips from trembling.

'I'm going to smile like nothing's wrong. Talk like every things perfect. Act like it's all a dream, and pretended it's not hurting me.' Shaking her head, causing her long blonde to swing about to rest back in place, Chantal stood.

Tugging her gold shirt down, the puffed sleeves which ended two inches below her shoulder with ruffles, blew in the mild hot wind. A purple bandana was tied around her tiny waist, covering most of the bronze coloured mini skirt. In front of the bandana was a big light purple bow clipped into the bandana knot.

The thigh high black stockings had white lace trimmings at the top. Inches down the stockings were knee high black converses with white and black checker pattern shoe laces.

She walked to the lone abandoned corridors of her school. Resting her folded hands on the waist high balcony, her eyes drifting to the setting sun that was now casting pale pinks, yellow and oranges over the twilight sky.

A strong gust of wind ruffled her clothes, and sent her waist length golden hair dancing and flying around her. Slipping her hand up into her hair she pulled it out only to tie it back in a high pony tail.

The jade coloured eyes shifted as she gazed down a couple near her, remembering the times when she had one of her own, yet, she had broken up with him, for personal reason she says, yet deep inside, she was still hurting, especially since just a few days ago, they had met once again, and apparently he had already moved on, while she herself was still trying to cope up. Sighing to herself, she covered her face with her hands, trying to keep herself from crying once again.

Jack walked through the Durmstrang corridors with a group of people around him. They had just left a lesson and had returned to their dorm to change into casual clothes. The plan had been to go out of the school for a while, what with it being a weekend when they could. As they walked, a few of the boys drifted away to go and find their girlfriends. Jack felt bad, but his girlfriend was staying back to study. So, he had decided to go out for the day and enjoy some time with his mates.

A few minutes later, only 10 people remained and he sighed, knowing that this number would at least half before they got to the gates. As a few more people pulled away, muttering apologies, he also pulled away. Following his best mate down the corridor back to the area where roughly the girls hung out, he walked past an open room with a girl inside, leaning against a balcony and talking to herself. He walked up behind her, not sure whether she could hear him or not. Catching the end of her statement he walked up behind her and stood next to her looking out at the view. "Its no point pretending to let it go, your just lying to yourself and that won't get you anywhere. Take it from someone who knows." He said, his tone absent as he thought back to many things. "Oh, im sorry to overhear it. I was just walking past." He explained, his tone warm and friendly as he smiled his handsome smile at her. "Jack Evans." He said, holding out his hand for her to shake.

Chantal had to quickly turn around that she had almost lost her balance when she heard a voice speak next to her. She didn't expect anyone there at all, for usually, that place was deserted at those times of the day. Not knowing what to do, seeing that he had actually heard her statements, Chantal tuned once again, this time, her back on him, she didn't want anyone to see her cry, it's just too... heavy for her, she didn't want to worry and burden someone just because she cannot move on and just because she keep on holding on to the past. No, she's not that type of an individual, and she knew for a fact that one day, she'll get to be able to let go eventually. "You don't know me, I . . sometimes it's good to hide your feelings, that way, no one would get hurt..." She said softly, though deep inside she knew that even though she won't be a burden to anyone by hiding her feelings, she would eventually hurt her own self. "But thank you for the advice, Mr. Stranger." She added on, her eyes fixed in front of her as she stared off the distance, wondering how weak she might had appeared at the moment.

Just as she was about to start on her heels and leave, the boy had had introduced himself, and of course, it would only be proper for her to do the exact same thing, he's being kind to her, and that's enough to make her stay. "Chantal, Chantal Himmelreich..." She said, introducing herself as she shook his hand. That's one thing about Chantal, she forgets her worries when around other people, she becomes her joyful self, that's probably the reason why she had been so keen in gaining lots of them, being surrounded by other people makes her think of her worries less, it makes her feel safe and secured.

Jack smiled as she shook his hand although he was concerned for her still. "Well, from my experience, i ended up hiding my emotions and it got so serious, no one knew any different and i did some serious damage. I think however brave you are being, it will cause more damage in the end." He said, thinking of the big problem that had occurred a few years ago. He had been so angry with his cousin, who seemed to date every boy and not think about how much he was concerned for her welfare. In the end, because no one had been able to notice his signs of anger and frustration, he had ended up putting one of his friends in St Mungo's because the boy had crossed the line and not known the trouble that would come from it. So now, not only did Jack have the guilt of ruining someone else's life, but he also had a reputation behind him which made many people fear him. He sighed as these thoughts stole his attention, knowing that no good would come from covering how you felt. He didn't know what else to say so just smiled his carefree and handsome smile, one that made him look relaxed and easy going whereas his mind was going full pelt and whirring at top speed about memories and issues. "Its nice to meet you Chantal. What year are you in?" He asked, going into the typical conversation that normally came up between people when they first met. However, it seemed that it was necessary, even though they were really discussing something a lot deeper.

Chantal smiled as she noticed that the boy was still concerned about her, it made her feel quite reassured at that. It wasn't because it was him, but rather, because someone was giving his time to listen to all her worries. "Some feelings are meant to be hidden, even just for a while, it's better.. it's not a sign of weakness, or not about the damage that it will bring, people are just like that, I guess that it is an innate tendency for us to hide our feelings for we are afraid to be judged, rejected...." She said, smiling still. She knew that the boy had a point. Yet, she couldn't juts bring her self to act all sad when she knew that if she did so, others around her would be affected. That's something that she didn't want to happen. She wanted everyone to be happen, even if it wasn't her, it's fine.

When Jack asked about the year she was in, Chantal cannot help but to laugh, he had just lighten up her mood, stirring away from their previous topic was enough to make her feel happy by then. "Sixth year, and you?" She stated, shrugging her shoulders as she came back leaning unto the balcony once again, she didn't know what was it, but, the scene before her captivates her interests.

Jack smiled and shrugged. "Yes, some feelings are meant to be kept away. But its best to share them with at least someone. Even if it is someone random. As long as you do share it. As they say, a problem shared is a problem halved. And yes, people can be afraid of being rejected, but at least they are their true feelings. And anyone who doesn't hear that through, then they are too mean to be friends with and have no right to hear those problems." He said, feeling a sudden urge of wise words coming forth. Normally, Jack wasn't a good speaker, he never found the right words to say in awkward situations, but now, now there seemed to be many things to say to this upset girl. "Im in my 7th and final year." He said with a smile, pleased at the idea of leaving the castle and being out in the world for his own life soon.

Chantal had had to laugh lightly when he heard the boy speak, honestly, she didn't expect that he would have much more emotional wisdom than she does, and actually, it was quite amusing. "I never thought that you'll say that to me Jack, thank you for the advice." She said with a smile as she turned around to fully face the boy standing beside her, she didn't know why, but, she easily forgets her worries when she's around someone. "I'm fine now, I'm usually not like this though, so, you do't have to worry about me anymore." She added, assuring the said guy that she'll never be found crying once again, at least, from then on. She'll try to do his advice by then, and hopefully, that would really help. "Oh, you'll be graduating already... what would you do then?"

Raising his eyebrows one final time, he frowned slightly. This girl wasn't listening to his advice as much as he had hoped. She was putting it behind her, or hidden away and it would reappear sooner or later, Jack knew that. But, if she didn't want to talk about it, there was nothing more that Jack could do so, groaning inwardly at getting no where, he turned his thoughts back to the conversation. It was true, he wasn't the sort of guy to talk like that to girls, but sometimes, just sometimes, he knew the right thing to say. And in those moments, he wouldn't turn them down. He would say what words had to be spoken, and leave it as that.

Shrugging at her new question, he wondered what to answer. Secretly, he wanted to join the deatheaters, but not everyone took it well, so he would keep it quiet now until he trusted someone enough to spill. "Me? Im not sure. Perhaps get into professional flying, or maybe teach.... Im not really sure to be honest. My parents own a chain of muggle hotels, so if i don't get any work, then ill give it a shot for a bit. But not permanently." He compromised, the sudden idea coming to his head as he spoke. Smiling, he waited for her response before responding with the question of what she would do once she left.
