Third Years Lesson Four

"Good Morning everyone." Mallory greeted the students brightly as the last few entered the classroom, standing and smoothing the hem of her soft yellow robes, a sunflower tucked behind her ear. Her hair was in a single dark braid that fell down her back. Peter was a bit further back, closer to the wall behind her desk with a few charms in place to protect him. He was cooing softly, chewing on his hand and watching the world around him. "I'll try to keep it short today. We will be going over two spells: the Engorgement Charm and the Shrinking Charm," she clasped her hands, pacing slowly through the front of the room,

"The Engorgement Charm enables an object to swell or enlarge themselves at a certain extent. If it goes past that certain point, it will explode, like a balloon would if you blew too much air into it.” the professor explained with a smile, "Although it is not a balloon kind of explosion. It is said to be a violent one, so please do be careful, my dears," she fretted softly, looking over her students with soulful eyes. "While Finite can be used, the Shrinking Charm is also an effective counter-spell. It is quite self-explanatory, but remember that this charm causes shrinking both internally and externally," Mallory explained, taking out her wand.

The professor took out one marble from a box of them on her desk and held it in her hand, holding it at an angle so that everyone could see it, "Engorgio," she spoke loudly enough for the whole classroom to hear, and in response, the marble grew and grew until it was the size of a baseball. "Reducio," she demonstrated as well and the marble went back to its original size. “You’ve seen the spell, now I would like each of you to come up and claim a marble. You can keep this marble; no two are the same. Now, remember, Engorgio is for enlarging and Reducio is for shrinking," she moved back to her desk, watching as each student came up and picked out a marble.

Be careful not to let anything explode, but if you do that's okay. When you need my assistance just call me or raise your hand. I'll be wandering around," she told them before she let them do as they pleased with the marbles, staying close to try and make sure there were no accidents in the class today. She kept an eye on Peter as well, but he was perfectly fine.

Morrie slouched in her seat, barely lookong at Professor Grayveson in her yellow robes, yellow was not a colour that Morrie cared for. She couldn’t care less about the lesson either and huffed when she had to get herself a marble. She returned to her seat and pointed her wand at the blue marble, "Engorgio". The marble only grew a bit, which annoyed her more. She clenched her wand a little tighter and wondered what the point of not letting it explode was. "Reducio" She said next, watching the marble shrink back to it's original size. Once the lesson ended, Morrie silently packed up her belongings and left the classroom.

Apolline walked into the charms classroom and took her usual spot in the room. Her gaze moved towards the professor at the front of the class as the woman got started. They would be getting to do another two spells, which was very exciting to Apolline. SHe glanced towards the professor as the woman went on to tell them about the two spells, watching as she then demonstrated it. Apolline nodded but was very glad when she was able to have a go at it. She took the marble and her wand and then cast ”Engorgio,” she was able to practice the spells managing to get both pretty quickly, but working on doing and undoing them to her hearts content. Doing that until the lesson was wrapped up and she was able to leave the room.

Kyousuke found charms simple enough. Something about it appealed to him, though he couldn't pinpoint exactly what. He took his seat and waited for it to begin. Taking down notes on the spells, he then got himself a marble and practiced the spells. He did well with engorgio but struggled a little with reducing it again. By the end of the lesson, however, he'd gotten the knack for both, doing the two spells in quick succession of one another and having Kyousuke's version of fun doing so.

Ever entered the Charms classroom. She glanced around the room, her eyes icy and cold towards just about everyone. She looked at the professor, having to admit the woman had style. That was something. But that didn't forgive her mistakes this year. It didn't make Ever like her. She could just appreciate it. That was it. She wasn't getting soft.

The Slytherin girl took her seat in the front of the classroom. She knew the charms today so didn't even bother to take out her note taking items. She did set her wand on the desk though, ready to just begin. Why did she had to wait when she did all the work before hand? She should never have to wait. Ever was too important for that. But apparently, the professor did not see this as she took a little bit to start the lesson.

Finally, it began. Ever had been right about the charms they were covering today. She wondered if she could make someone's head massive if they were too annoying. A smirk filed on her face. She shook her head to focus, her blonde hair swinging back and forth. She just caught the professor telling them to grab a marble. Ever went to the front of the room finding a gold and green one that caught her eye. It would do. She picked up the marble and went back to her desk.

Setting the marble on her desk, Ever picked up her wand. She imagined it was the head of one of her dormmates as she said "Engorgio" The marble grew slightly. Ever sighed. Now she pictured the marble growing. Not as much fun. "Engorgio" she said again. This time the marble grew rapidly. Ever watched until it was the size of a royal's gem. "Reducio" Ever said. The marble stopped growing. "Reducio" she attempted again. This time the marble shrunk back to its normal size.

She felt confident now. Ever did have time though. She continued to practice the two charms, having the marble grow and shrink with her desire. It was decent enough fun. When the lesson was over, Ever made sure the marble was the proper size. She pocketed it before grabbing her things and leaving the classroom.

Violet was halfway through the semester now and she was happy about this. As much as she was excited for classes during the first week, she was definitely not excited for them now and was counting down the days until the completion of the semester. Classes soon became tiring, and also repetitive, and she just hoped the professors had some variety this week as she began heading to her classes.

Violet entered the charms classroom, wondering which spells they would be learning that lesson. As she listened to the professor talk, she was glad that these spells sounded simple and was confident she would master them in no time. When instructed, she collected herself a marble and headed back to her desk to try the spells out. She imagined it all in her head first before she did it. "Engorgio." she said. It took a couple of tries but eventually the marble slowly grew. It didn't get as big as she imagined, but at least it was bigger than before. "Reducio." she then said, pointing her wand at it again as she imagined it as its original size. This one was a lot easier, probably because Violet knew exactly what she was imagining. Soon enough, the lesson came to an end and Violet headed out.
