Third Years Lesson Five

Professor Adler had made sure that the Defence Against the Dark Arts classroom was emptied with all that could be in the way, and so they would have the space to practice. She replaced her desk once again with the large wardrobe with the boggart inside of it. She was excited for the lesson, since she found it an interesting one to be part of when she was at school. But Geo was also on guard since she knew it would be an intense lesson. She wanted her students to feel safe. Some had spoken to her for a one on one session prior to today's class, but Geo still expected everyone to participate today.

Today was the day her third-year students would be coming face to face with their fears and try to banish them by using the spell she had taught them a couple of weeks ago. She stood by the door when the students arrived and welcomed them inside with a reassuring smile when she noticed a couple hesitating. She wanted to see every face to get an image of how they were facing this lesson today. She gestured the students to come closer to her in the front. '' Hello everyone.'' Geo greeted them. '' Form a line please.'' She added, gesturing in front of her and closing the classroom door with an quick movement. ''Today. I want everyone to think of the thing they fear the most and turn it into something funny. Remember, the incantation to banish the boggart is Riddikulus.'' She than reminded them and some perhaps had no idea what they feared, but that would be shown soon. She paused to look around the classroom and then beckoned for the first in line to step forward with an encouraging smile. That was brave. She stepped up to them and said, ''Again, the incantation alone is not enough. Think of something that you find truly amusing and use that when you say the incantation out loud. I can assure you that the result will make all of us laugh, so you needn't be afraid.'' She said before giving the students a reassuring smile. ''I want everyone to be respectful, if I see you fooling around, you can stay and take part in a detention.'' And with that last strict warning Professor unlocked the wardrobe giving the student a nod, and with a flick of her wand to let the boggart come out.

To recieve an O:
- Roleplay the lesson, and use Riddikulus to turn your character's fear into something amusing.
If you roleplay the lesson but do not mention the boggart taking the shape of the fear you will receive an A, and if your character fails to successfully perform the spell, they will receive an E.

Eli wasn’t sure how he felt about this lesson, he knew it was coming, they’d all been told they would be facing a boggart, and he’d done the reading, but he wasn’t sure he could ever be prepared for what would step out from behind. He vaguely thought he might know but he still wasn’t prepared for what he felt when his turn came and it was two of his siblings that stepped out of the wardrobe. Rose and Jonah both stared at him, both of them saying horrible things to him about how they could never trust him again, how could he treat his siblings like this, they never wanted to speak to him again, at full volume so half of the class could probably hear it. He didn’t even want to look at any of his families face as he tried to calm himself down to remember the spell. Riddikulus. He tried a couple of times to get the spell to work, but he couldn’t, and eventually the Professor had to step in to help. He immediately retreated to the other side of the room, and dropped his head into his hands. He clearly couldn’t even manage to do a spell in a moment of stress or conflict. How useless was he?

Rose wasn’t exactly thrilled to be facing a boggart in front of the entire class, this sort of thing had never been her brand after all, but she’d taken a potion before hand that she hoped would mitigate anything else that might happen during the class. The siblings were all in line, Eli was in front of her but Sayuri and Jonah were behind her. She watched in horrified silence when it was Eli’s turn and it was herself and Jonah who stepped out of the wardrobe saying horrible things that she would never actually say to her brother in real life. Her stomach twisted in knots and her fingers clenched into a fist as she watched the scene unfold, horrified and guilty over the whole thing. It made her feel sick to watch it, and then when he failed to even manage to produce the spell she wanted to chase after him when he slunk away, but she couldn’t because she was up next and after that display, she certainly wasn’t sure how she was supposed to follow. So when her mother stepped out of the wardrobe and started berating her and telling her she would never live up to the Edogawa name and how everything she was going through was just her trying to get attention, Rose got pissed. Not at her mother of course, but at the boggart for upsetting her brother. So she formed her thoughts into a coherent one in her mind and turned her raving mother into a chicken, well, she was in a chicken costume anyway and then she shouted “Riddikulus!” And watched the class laugh. She didn’t follow Eli, she left him alone, she felt like maybe he would need it.
