Hayden was looking forward to spending some more time with Odette. Before her he wasn't much for the dances the school put on and only attended sporadically but it was at a dance where he met Odette for the first time so to him the events were special. The fourth year put the finishing touches on his outfit and slipped on his jacket before he headed down to the common room and waited for Odette to appear. He was excited to see how she looked, Odette had looked amazing at the Yule ball as she always did and he knew whatever she wore that he would have the most beautiful date at the ball.

Odette had enjoyed going to dances with Hayden before, but it was even more incredible now that they were actually dating. She still had some trouble opening up to Hayden, but she was trying. The rose she had sent him was something, after all, even if the message had been short. He had sent her a rose in return, which she appreciated. She would only focus on that right now, and not any others she may have gotten.

After seeing her stupid and infuriating half-sister in her dress that she had been saving for the Valentine's dance, she wanted to look as different as possible. The long dress had been too formal anyway, especially accessorized by those hideous pearls she had put on with it. So for today, Odette had gone for another simple dress, even more simple than the one she had worn for the ball this year. She did think it looked good on her, and her mother had always told her not to look like she was trying too hard to get attention. A large ballgown did that like nothing else.

As she saw Hayden waiting for her in the common room, Odette smiled and approached him. Hesitantly, she laced her fingers in his, before squeezing his hand slightly. "Let's go." She told him as she glanced at the others in the common room. She didn't want to see stupid Charlotte. "I want to dance." She added with a slight smirk. "And I want to see how cheesy the decorations are, so we can both talk about them in disgust."

Hayden's hunch about how Odette would look was dead on. He struggled to keep a straight face as he watched her walk down the stairs. Once again he would have the prettiest date at the dance and he couldn't wait to show her off. Odette surprised him by approaching him and lacing their fingers together but Hayden didn't mind, in fact, he liked it. Odette seemed pretty eager to get to the dance and more so to dance. Hayden smiled at her comment and nodded. "I can't wait to dance with you," Odette's comment about the decorations made Hayden laugh. "You know there will be tons of overinflated hearts and lots of pink confetti and such, so cheesy," Hayden laughed. He liked that he and Odette had such similar outlooks on life.

The pair made their way up to the Great hall and made their way inside. As expected it was decorated with the cheesiest valentines decorations possible. Hearts everywhere, red and pink streamers as far as the eye could see. Hayden kind of liked it, but it didn't change the fact it was ridiculous. "Just like you said, cheesy and tacky," Hayden smirked looking down at Odette. "Now lets dance," He added dragging her by the hand over to the dance floor.

The decorations were exactly as Odette had expected, and she was happy to sneer at them all. Though she had to admit to herself that she quite liked the canopy overhead with the changing flowers, it made the hall seem different than usual and made everything feel more romantic. Not that she would say that out loud. "I'm always right, and the headmistresses taste seems to lean to both those things if we judge the decorations for the previous parties since she took over." She said with a snort, though she glanced around to make sure no professor was nearby to hear her say that. She was surprised when Hayden dragged her to the dance floor, and only accepted it because dancing had been her idea first. Still, she pointedly took her hand from his and rested it on his arm instead one they were on the dance floor. She did smile at him, though, not really that annoyed. "So, here we are again." She said with a smile. "How many dances is this? Four?" She liked that he always wanted to go with her, though she did worry a little bit he would grow tired of her soon. But she shouldn't think that way, and she tried her best to push the thought out of her mind. "Not many girls in my year have a boyfriend, let alone someone older and handsome like you." She noted, glancing at the surrounding people. "Do you see any of your friends at the dance?" She actually had no idea about Hayden's friends, aside from Evangeline, perhaps. Odette wondered if any girl in his year liked him, and she thought they probably did. That made it even more special that he had picked her instead.
