The Trip to Up North

Turning towards the cupboard lake opened the doors and pulled out a basket containing a variety of fruits he placed the bowl In front of the girl and gestured towards the kitchen 'help yourself' he said, looking at the girls face he shrugged slightly 'I don't like fruit flys at the pantry keeps them out'

Lake felt meeras words more than he heard them, he felt rage bubble inside his stomach as if he was either going to be sick or everything around him was going to be destroyed if he didn't act. 'werewolves are feared because its a disease, do you think they asked to be like this? Do you think we want to be treated this way?' he said his words turning harsh 'how would you feel if people didn't want to be your friend just because you were diagnosed with some disease which only affected you on full moons but can be managed but you're still treated as if a touch is poison ' lake paced out of the kitchen and closer to meera, he looked at her before quickly turning on his heels and back into the kitchen, he ran his hands through his hair and picked up a vial and threw it against the wall behind the girl, on contact it started to flower on the wall.

''what did I do to deserve this? he asked 'I didn't ask to be left with scars' Lake pulled his shirt over his head and tossed it into the corner of the room and turned to show the girl 'I didn't ask to be scarred for like by that beast, I was 7 years old I got lost and now my life has been twisted by this mistake'
Lake ran his hands through his hair again and walked past the girl into the lounge, he didn't mean to snap at her but he hated the labels that got placed on werewolves he sat on one of the couches and placed his head in his hands and leaned forward over the carpet in front of him, he took deep breaths his stomach visibly moving with forced control.
Lake shrugged his shoulders slightly causing the scars on his back to move over his shoulder blades as he did.
'I'm sorry' he said softly

[ipad sorry for any mistakes]

The fruits that Lake offered her finally made her stomach calm down. She picked up an apple and a banana and followed Lake into the kitchen. "Okay" she said covering the fruit basket so as to avoid any fruit flies. The kitchen was neat and despite the ancient wooden furniture it had a cozy look. Meera washed the fruits and began slicing them with the kitchen knife she found on the kitchen counter. She put a few slices of apple in her mouth, chewing and finally swallowing them. "Thanks. You want some?"she asked Lake as she took a bite of the banana. Meera made her way back to the room where she was seated before and took her spot on the high stool. She had no idea of what was going on in Lake's mind. She thought that by telling him that he did not be to scared she would actually have made him feel better. She was almost done with her banana and she did not realize the silence that had been between them for a minute too long.

Meera then heard Lake's words coming from the kitchen. "No. Of course not!" she began as she realized his voice was louder now and his tone almost rude. She had no idea why Lake was talking like this to her. Of course people who became werewolves never wished for it. Meera knew that. She had thought he knew that she knew but she was wrong. He was still under the impression that she had something against them.Didn't I just tell him that I am not against werewolves? she thought, confusion steering up in her mind. She was just about to get up from her stool and head into the kitchen to see if Lake was okay but instead she saw him storm towards her, coming so close to her and she now realized that he was angry, at her? She tried to back away but she was up against the counter. "Lake?" she said his name hoping that he would calm down. She watched him storm back into the kitchen. Meera got off and followed him. "Please calm down" she said trying her best to keep her tone calm and hoping he would listen. Then she saw him throw a vile in her direction that flew past her and hit the wall. Meera turned back to see the flowers that began growing on the wall. Turning back to Lake, she tried to stop the hot tears that were now forming in her eyes. "People are mental...someday they will change. I.. want to be your friend" she replied to his next words. Any suspicion that she had about Lake begin a werewolf were now gone because she was sure he was one but it did not matter. She needed him to know that.

Meera could not help but stare at Lake's bare chest as he threw off his shirt to show her the scars. She had not expected him to do this and she had no idea on how she could say or do anything to calm him down. All this was so new and strange. For some reason she knew he would not hurt her so instead of cowering away she approached him as her fingers traced the scars. "I...I'm sorry" she said looking up to meet his eyes. They were still angry and only now did she fully understand the anger. As he told her his story, the tears in her eyes poured out. She felt guilty for bringing up this topic and her curiosity. No one had a right to be curious about werewolves. They were not a topic for study or experiment. She wanted to comfort Lake in someway. She considered hugging him but he went back to the lounge. Meera left the kitchen and watched Lake sitting on the couch with his head in his hands. She hoped he was not crying. She went to sit beside him. She placed her hand on his shoulder and tried to ignore the scars. "Lake...I am so sorry" she said and wiped away her tears. She needed to comfort him and if she cried that would not work. "No one deserves this. I am sorry I ever brought it up" she said as she tried to make him look at her and held his hands in hers. She hugged him tightly hoping that this would help him. "I am sorry" she whispered in his ears. A minute later she realized how her body was pressed against his, hugging him and him being shirtless made it harder for her to control her thoughts. She pulled back and she met his eyes. She could not help but notice his muscular figure and the dim lighting did not help.

Feeling cool hands on his shoulders tracing his scars he twitched slightly, it wasn't what he expected, he was prepared for her to cry or leave, not comfort him. She spoke to him and surprised him again with what she was saying it wasn't common for Someone to understand lakes situation, most of them would judge saying that they didn't know why he went to the were wolf In the first place.
Lake waited patiently as the girl traces his back, he tensed up his arm slightly from the chills going down his spine but quickly relaxed he felt her body close to his but he didn't respond.
'you have every right to be curious, I don't blame you' he said softly lifting his head from his hands he lashed out with fear of being attacked for his illness not because of meera. He looked into her eyes and smiled slightly 'you're different Meera' he said continuing his gaze, he moved his head closer to hers but caught himself and lucked away before standing up facing away from the girl he moved his shoulders to shake the, out and his back muscles flexed 'I am so sorry meera, I didn't mean to lash out, but you can understand why' he said before turning around and looking at her.

Lake opened his arms up at his side in a half shrug, 'well now you know do you have any questions?' he assumed she would be curious about his type, he out his hands into his pockets 'as you can tell I'm not hairy all over and I haven't lashed out in any transformations I only have the scars on my back from when I was a child, I make a powerful wolfsbane and my sister used to make them for me before I could' he half chuckled and looked at the ground, waiting

Meera shook her head as Lake told her she had the right to be curious. After all this he was being nice to her. He had to blame her. It was not his fault. People like her, who were crazy and curious were at fault. She looked into his eyes as she watched him slowly calm down. You're different Meera his words rang and repeated in her head. She hoped different meant in a good way. She stopped breathing as she noticed him coming closer to her. Is he going to kiss me? she thought and felt butterflies in her stomach. She had never been kissed before. And then Lake stopped. Stop it. You are just imagining things, she thought scolding herself for thinking about all this when Lake was so upset. Meera stood up and tried to clear her head.Lake had his back turned to her and she hoped that he would be fine in a few minutes. They could switch to a lighter topic of conversation. Or Maybe you could go home. She knew that none of this would have happened if she would have just minded her business.

"I understand" she said attempting a small smile feeling a little relaxed to see Lake was calming down again. She did her best to stop thinking about how hot he looked right now. Meera did not laugh as Lake made a joke on himself. She had learned her lesson. She shook her head as he asked her if she had any questions. She was done with being curious about werewolves for this lifetime. Then something came to her mind and she was hoping this question was okay, nothing that would upset Lake. "Umm.. does the Ministry...know? They hired you. If they know then that must be something. I mean..." Meera said then realizing that she was speaking too much she stopped. "You're not as alone as you think, Lake. You just need to give life and people a second chance" she said and smiled at her new friend. She picked up his shirt and handed it to him. It was just too hard for her to concentrate on the situation with him looking so attractive. Meera checked the watch on her wrist. Her time was almost up. If she did not head back soon her friend would come looking for her. "It's late" she said in a small voice. She did not want Lake to think that she was leaving because she was scared of him. Maybe she could just call her friend and tell her that she was okay.

'I'm Registered but they never took any notice when they hired me' he said softly, he didn't care much for if the Ministry fired him because of it, but for now he was employed which was a bonus on top of his potions job. He was planning on one day having a shop for werewolves to work which consisted of just werewolves making potions for other werewolves, he found that werewolves had more time to spend focusing on the tricky business of potions, he found it was soothing.
Lake looked up at Meera and tilted his head slightly 'I give people plenty of chances, but they wont give me one, as soon as they know that i'm what i am that's the end of that relationship'

Lake took the shirt and pulled it over his head, not realising that his figure would be uncomfortable for her, he took her hand in his and held it tightly 'Please let me make this up to you, i didn't mean to frighten you' he said with a small smile but his eyes were betraying him slightly with a look of concern. He hoped Meera didn't decide to run and find someone to report him or attack him but he had no choice and no chance of stopping her. 'You don't know you way around i could help you around the town and any potions you need i can help teach you to brew them' he looked down at the girls hand he had clasped in his own 'At least let me help you back to where you are staying, there are some sketchy characters around here, and you cant use magic' he said softly.

Meera waited silently. She was not sure how Lake would react to her question and to the idea of her leaving. She hoped he would trust her and not think that she would tell anyone his secret. Meera heard Lake talk about how the Ministry had hired him despite being registered. She just nodded as she did not know what to say. There were two possibilities to why the ministry would have hired him. One of them was that Lake's condition had slipped from their mind or the other being that they were okay with werewolves. She hoped it was the second one. "Now that's like insulting me. Here I am talking with you after knowing everything" she said with a smile as she slightly teased him and hoped it would improve his mood. She finished the pieces of apple that were left on the plate because she did not believe in wasting food when many people around the world starved. She watched from the corner of her eye as Lake put on his shirt. He had not gotten upset by her question and that was enough to tell Meera that Lake would be just fine.

She was chewing on her apple when he took her hand in his and spoke to her.Her eyes went wide as she wanted to reply 'you did not frighten me' but she had food in her mouth. Chewing faster she tried to ignore her heart which was happy just because of the small contact of holding hands. She nodded as she swallowed her apple. The idea of Lake showing her around was just great. She did not know anything about the place and some part of her wanted to see him again tomorrow and this would be the perfect opportunity. Plus he could teach her potions! "Yes" she said with a smile. She could still feel warmth in her hand as he held it. "Tomorrow morning I have to go hiking with school. In the evening you could show me around"she said agreeing to his idea. She did not want to let go of his hand but she had to clean her plate because leaving it unwashed was just not acceptable. She opened the tap and quickly cleaned it and left it to dry. She laughed in her head as Lake suggested that he should take her back to the hotel because of 'sketchy characters' in the town. Meera was superb at hand to hand combat and she was carrying a knife in her boot. If Lake was to attack her she would have him down in a few minutes too but of course he did not know her secret abilities. She realized that he was being very nice so she turned to face him and with a smile she said "That would be very nice. It's very frightening out at night." She had to sell that she was a normal girl. She hated lying but no one liked a girl who could do everything and walking in the moonlight with Lake seemed like the best idea ever.

Lake chuckled at her joke, he was glad she wasn't scared, he wouldn't know what he would do if he scared her away.
Lake listened to her explain her day and he nodded slightly, school days together where she would be safe, that made him relax slightly, he was concerned for her, some people in this town knew about him and might try have a go at her because she knew him, he wanted to make sure that she was safe during her entire stay since he had put her in danger. Meera cleaned up after himself and he wanted to stop her but he decided to leave her to it, grabbing her arm to stop her might scare her so he didn't really have a choice. Lake nodded happily when she agreed to let him help her home, he would hurt himself if she got hurt because of him.

Lake walked towards the door and looked back at Meera, he could tell that there was more to her that meets the eye but he still insisted on protecting her, she was his responsibility now and he wasn't sure who made it that way but thats how it was and he was responsible for her. Lake pulled on a coat 'Do you have a coat Meera? My Sisters both left some spare coats upstairs in the spare room i could get one for you if you need, it gets rather cold here and you've been here for a while, you might need an extra thick coat' he said checking that she would be okay before she had a chance to answer he had leapt upstairs three steps at a time and was in the spare rooms closet, he found a black thick woolen coat and quickly headed back downstairs and held the coat out for Meera, she could have the Coat either way he didn't mind he waited for her to put her arms in the sleeves, he guessed her size, it was half way between his think little sister and his older rather Busty big sister, the Black coat had embroided black bows along the bottom of it giving it some flare but not too much. Lake held his arm out and waited for Meera to accept it before opening the door

When Lake laughed at her joke, Meera felt relived. He was finally okay and in good mood. She couldn't help but admire his laugh and the way it made his face shine. Meera was ready to leave when Lake asked her if she would need a coat. She had one which had come with the dress but it was not something that would protect her against the cold. It was just a designers coat to make the dress look better. "Okay" she said as she watched Lake climb up the stairs and then return a minute later with the coat. "Nice coat. Your sister's must have good taste in fashion" she said with a smile. She was going to wear the coat on her own but seeing that Lake was holding it for her she could not refuse but put her arms through it and allow him to help her. She knew she was getting too used to him and she would regret it later but it was just too hard to avoid or ignore him not that she had got to know him. She enjoyed her walk back to the hotel and agreed to meet Lake outside the hotel the next day at six in the evening. As Meera walked into the hotel she wished Alice was here to help her with all the thoughts in her head. She had a feeling that it was going to be a while before she would be able to sleep because of all the events of the day that were replaying in her head. Her mentor, Arjun had told her that it was not good to write in a diary because that was hard evidence that could put her in trouble but after all this she thought it was a good time to test the diary her mother had gifted her and begun writing her heart out.
