The Start of the Year Feast

This was it, her fifth year, the one year Isabella had been waiting for since she first entered Hogwarts. All for that one shiny little badge that she was currently wearing proudly. Prefect. The fifteen year old even stood up a little more proudly at the thought of the word, as she sat with her Housemates and best friends at the Slytherin table, wearing her best uniform so that she made sure to look like the perfect student she was.

Isabella sighed softly as Alyssa said that the time was going by so fast, it certainly was. Over the break she had only grown another inch, but she felt more mature and wiser - didn't every teenager think they were older than the rest of their peers at some point? Isabella felt much more relaxed this year and felt that his year was going to be a good one. She applauded the young first years that got sorted into Slytherin, though many like those younger than her seemed unworthy to be in such a prestigious House, she hoped they wouldn't disappoint her too badly. As the food appeared, Isabella smiled and dug in, conversing with her friends and asking what they hoped would happen this year.

Summer had kept an uncharacteristically low profile during her first year, but she felt that now that she had settled herself within Hogwarts in her first year, she was going to start making herself known, as it should be. The aspiring actress was already perfecting her role of interested student, feigning interest in whatever the old guy at the prodium was saying and pretending to be happy that more Slytherins were joining her in the dungeons. Summer loved the sweet innocent look that her smile gave off because it fooled people into thinking she was nice, which she hoped to soon use to her advantage. After the sorting ceremony was over Summer sighed exasperatedly thinking I thought that'd never end! and nibbled at her food for the rest of the evening, quietly observing others for the time being, and rolling her eyes when she caught her twin sister's blue eyes on her, wishing she didn't have a twin sister at all. At least we don't look alike, she cheered herself up with that thought.

Hannah was sitting next to one of the Hufflepuff Prefects, a brunette girl who seemed to be a new Prefect because she didn't think she remembered her being a Prefect the previous year. Hannah had observed her throughout the common room however and thought the girl was well deserving of the position. Hannah listened politely as a new Headmaster went over things and tilted her head to the side as she wondered where the previous Headmaster and Headmistress were, but didn't voice her curiosity.

Hannah then watched with interest as all the new students got sorted, smiling lightly at the memory of her own sorting not too long ago. Although it had only been a year, she felt so much older, or at least thought so. "We weren't that small last year, were we?" she asked aloud, to no one in particular, not knowing if anyone even heard her.

Its was yet another year for Lexi, this will be a devastated year. She sat across from the Snow's and Isabella Chaos, that she seems now getting along with .. or maybe not. As the sorting begins, Lexi find it very common and not exciting at all when she took a glimpse at the right side of the staff table. Lexi saw her mom starring at her with watery eyes, she on the other hand made her eyes flew on her house mates across from her.

Danny looked about at the faces he recognized and those he didn't. He smiled at a boy who appeared to be new feeling relief that he wasn't in a house surrounded by only girls. With Alex gone the year would be a quiet enough one, he had always enjoyed the boys pranks. Even now at the Hufflepuff table all seemed maddeningly quiet.

He applauded the students who made their way after sorting to their table, then once speeches were through he tucked into his meal. Wanting nothing more than to head up to his dorm later and chill out.

Max filed in with the rest of the Ravenclaws, and took a random seat, hoping he hadn't stolen someone's spot. Although he was a fifth year transfer, and used to Hogwarts in Scotland, Max couldn't help but be feel like a fish out of water, relating more with the new first years than those his own age. The actual school side of things, he had no problems with, but the fact that he was suddenly the new kid was what made him a little nervous. Max was used to feeling at home, and he wondered how long it would take him to feel the same at Hogwarts New Zealand.

As the sorting ceremony began, the young Ravenclaw clapped politely for those who joined his house. He didn't know any of them - in fact, the next new student he would know, his brother, wouldn't be starting until after Max had left - but he was patriotic to his house, and knew that being welcoming was basic manners. Soon enough it was time for the feast, and Max began to dig in. While he usually had a decent group of friends, right now he was a loner, as everyone was already wrapped up in a conversation with their existing friends. The only person he had spoken to at HNZ was Cassidy, and she didn't appear to be there. Max continued to eat his dinner, wondering if there would be a chance for him to join a conversation.

It was a new year and Scorpius was ready for things to change. Too long he had distanced himself from friends and he was looking forward to getting back on track with himself mostly. Scorpius had changed over the year, he was only a few months away from being fifteen, his voice was now deeper, no longer having to clear his throat whenever his voiced cracked as he spoke, his shoulders were broader, his arms and chest a bit more filled out, and his black hair was no longer up in its messy, spiky updo. This year he was letting it fall down loosely now that it had grown too long to be spiky. This year he felt good, and he hoped it would continue that way. He was at least going to try and make things stay normal for as long as he could before something happened, something always happened to mess it up. Refocusing his silver eyes on the first years getting sorted before him, he shook his head, and clapped for the new Ravenclaws. This year was going to be a good year. He sighed softly, wishing with all hope that it could really be as easy as just saying so.

After a stressful time at home, Abigail found herself relieved to be back at school and approaching the new year as her rightfully claimed position as a fifth year prefect. Of course she wanted to stay at home for the birth of her cousin little sister but that simply was not an option, she would just have to get a letter and a picture from Noelle and her Uncle. She had let her marks slip in the second semester, being distracted with the trivialities of people with lesser blood and house status' than her own but she was going to strive to improve herself and show her Professors that Abigail Shawn Lurken was worthy of the respected house o' Slytherin.

She had high expectations of this year, for herself mainly but also for the Glam Squad who would continue to proove to Hogwarts New Zealand that the rest of their pathetic little cliques were nothing more than coppies of their own, the one that they hadn't even meant to start in the first place. And as Abigail sat beside her friend, Isabella, she was straight backed and prideful of the crest she bore over her chest on her best Slytherin uniform that without intention brought out different shades to her amethyst coloured irises.

As her orbs scanned the Professors she couldn't help but notice that Professor King and Professor Rambolt Zhefarovich weren't there and that a strange looking man she had never seen before was taking a place at the podium. Another new professor, are they flipping joking? she thought bitterly before shrugging it off, she had to focus on her OWLs this year not the stupidity of the adults that were influencing her peers mind.

Abigail payed little to no attention as the first years were sorted and she most certainly did not clap because with every Slytherin the house received she found them to be unworthy.

Jenna had skipped into the Great Hall with her newly transferred best friend, Jesse Reed, but of course the girl was sorted into Gryffindor and they had to be at different tables, how could she be anywhere else? It just made good sense. So she sat at the Hufflepuff table, taking notice of her best friend Scorpius Knight, who she waved to gently and mouthed playfully "Love the hair". Jenn smirked to herself before clapping along with the rest of the Hufflepuffs as one after the other was sorted into the house of supposed kindness.

Once Sinhella was sorted, she stepped down the stool looking around for the Ravenclaw table. Her blue dazzling eyes would look around till she was greeted by the lot of them. A girl not much older than her telling Sin its the correct table. Sin looked around before she sat down. Both Briar and Liam was sorted into Gryffindor. There was no sign of Ceri and Sasha was sorted into Hufflepuff. Sin sat down once she reached, the raven flyer table. She felt a little lost without knowing anybody in this table. Putting her head down while costing continue to process, she waited till it was done. Sinhella looked up once she feast started. A bit starved, she started to serve herself, spilling a little gravy near her elbow. Sin blushed quickly trying to clean up her mess, she was just having a difficult time trying not to spill anything else. Satisfied with the load she had on her plate, she relax and started to nibble on her fine course meal.

The Slytherin table was packed by the time she reached it, she had hoped Kaleb would have saved a seat for her but looking down the long benches noticed two others on either side. A class mate called to her and she nodded her head curtly. She looked so different from her previous years. The vacation had been spent being assured by her parents that they had not meant to leave her out of the loop after her grandfather died but she cared little for their words. Seeing them finally for what they really were. Her grandfather had been right about them all along. They cared nothing for the title, nothing for the name she carried with pride. They only cared about the money.

Unfortunately they were her trustees, guardians of her fortune and future. She had felt suffocated all summer long not being able to visit with Kaleb once so resorting to lengthy letters instead. Her hair was poker straight now but not just blond anymore, streaks of black and red stained some tresses and her eyes were heavily choled. Her uniform was not that of a demure girl either, her skirt shorter enhancing her long slender legs. Her blouse and sweater fitted, molded to her slender frame. Her robes swished about her as she sat down finally. Smiling down the line to where he sat. Would he even recognize her now? He was still as handsome as ever, even more so if that was even possible.

Carmen felt the tell tale stirrings of her heart whenever he was near before the headmaster began his speech and the sorting for houses began.

It was just another year but somehow she felt completely different and it showed in her entire demeanor. Her posture was still perfectly precise but her once smooth tender hands were now calloused and rough. The entire vacation had been spent on the dragon reserve in Mongolia training her Chinese Fire dragon Komi. It had of course been lots of fun but it had also been extremely hazardous. Komi as yet could only breath smoke which was adorable but she had was no longer apprehensive of the day when he would be gushing fire towards her. The experienced dragon keepers had charms on themselves to prevent serious burns from penetrating their skin. Almost like a constant totalus shield build into their fiber as they worked with the dragons. Artemis had been able to get out to visit as well which had been great.

Her eyes never once strayed to the Slytherin table, they were not even tempted too. She had thought about him of course over the holidays but as her world and her life were now taken up with something that needed her complete attention she dared even lose train of thought once. She smiled at her fellow Ravenclaws glad to see Austin and Artemis again. Clapping heartily as the new recruits to Ravenclaw made their way to their house table she beamed with pride and discovering that both head boy and girl had come from Ravenclaw this year.
