Roman gripped the podium as he looked out across the masses of students. He had been asked by the Ministry to be Headmaster the previous year, and had been very unfamiliar with the customs of Hogwarts. He slowly learned the school and its pupils ways, but had planned on leaving come year's end. It appeared, however, that his presence was still necessary and so, when asked to stay, he agreed, though he made no secret of the fact that he was not impressed that he had been asked for only one year, and now a second.

"Welcome," he began in his gravelly voice a hush instantly falling over the crowd without so much as him clearing his throat or raising his hand to the air. "I am Roman Ivo, and I have been asked by the Ministry to remain Headmaster of this school for the coming year. Last year I learned your ways. This year, you will learn mine." He waited patiently as the murmurs spread through the hall.

"New first years: I will call your name. You shall come forward, the hat will be placed on your head. Once you are sorted, join your new housemates at the appropriate table." Roman called out the first student and as the hat touched each small head, the oddity presented itself once more. It took a while for each to be placed within the house who would be their home for the next seven years. "Congratulations. I was told to inform you all not to venture into the Forbidden Forest, for any reason." Said sternly, he touched upon them with his slightly narrowed eyes. "Now. Commence with the feast."

Withdrawing from the podium, Roman took his seat at the staff table.

Out of Character:
As stated in the Information about Sorting thread, you must fill out the sorting form entirely properly and fill in an RP as exemplified in the post. If your RP does not leave room for the sorting hat to sort you: you will not be sorted. If the sorting hat does not receive your sorting form: you will not be sorted.
Follow instructions and: you will be sorted.

You can edit your post once you are sorted, but be sure that you only reply to this topic once and it is through the sorting form provided. Thank you.

It comes but once, but once each year,
When, I, the sorting hat appear.
I appear to sort the latest batch,
To look within and find a match.
To seek the person who does reside,
Beneath the skin, deep down inside.

Rest assured, I do take care,
To avoid mistakes and always be fair,
Because I know my duty is very great,
The decisions I make affecting fate.
So do not approach with a sense of fear,
Embarrassed when seated upon your rear.
And when I’m placed upon your head,
Your thoughts should not be full of dread.
Approach with confidence, pure and true,
Give me the chance to honour you.

Those who step forth brave with pride,
Likely in Gryffindor they will reside.
Fire and Lion, scarlet and gold,
A house of friends, strong and bold.

Hard working kids who value fair play,
May find that Hufflepuff is where they stay.
The Earth and Badger, yellow and black.
Loyalty and tolerance, keep them on track.

Creativity and intelligence will help some soar,
Above the rest to Ravenclaw’s door.
Air and Eagle, bronze and blue.
The wisdom to make dreams come true.

And finally those, resourceful and cunning,
Ambitious and powerful are in the running.
They’ll join the house of silver and green,
Where water and serpents stage the scene.

Now, one last thing, please take heed,
Here is some advice that you may need.
This school has grown in a short time,
So have mistakes and heinous crime.
A challenge to all present, to look within,
No matter the house I've placed you in.
To do your best and persevere,
To use your strengths and face your fear.

The time has come, no more delay,
I call you forth, come on, let’s play.

Hamza going up the stairs to the great hall where he will be sorted. Still, in shock and very happy that he was accepted to Hogwards this year, he was a little bit sweating from his hands. He was looking at other students whom were talking to each other and was trying to start a conversation but he was just a bit nervous on which house he wanted to be sorted in.

Now reaching the hall and sitting down, he started a conversation with the student next to him to take away his mind of and to just hope for the best. All of a sudden, Hamza was called to come up to the Hat and he slowly got out of his seat and started walking. The students that Hamza was about to talk to back when they were walking up the stairs gave him a pat in the back when he was walking and Hamza's fears started to go away that there were some people that would care about him.

He then reached the seat and was not waiting to be sorted.

"Hmm... you might be difficult. No, no. There's too much caring and loyalty in you to be anywhere but HUFFLEPUFF!"

Lyra walked in line with the rest of the unsorted students as her eyes started to wander around the great hall. She saw 4 tables and was thrilled, she didn't know which house she would like to be in. A smile appear on her face, she was thrilled and excited. "Sato, Lyra!" Her name was called. Her eyes widen as she walk towards the stool and sat with a big smile on her face. "I can't believe it!" She whispered to the sorting hat. She closed her eyes while biting her lower lips. "This is going to be fun!" She whispered as she imagine her self being placed in one of the houses.

"You could be any of three houses. You're just not a Slytherin. No, definitely not Slytherin. Hmmm. I'll place you in GRYFFINDOR!"

The day so far had been long and he was close to exploading with the input of so much information and amazing new things in his head but he was by no means done yet.As he was told to wait before entering the hall he felt his knee's go weak and his face warm. His emotions were running wild and out of controle but he had to try his best atleast to keep a cool head and not look like a total reject , not to make a scene or he would most definetley be a outcast for the rest of his Hogwarts life.As the vast doors opened and he was escorted with the other students in to the hall his pupils expanded so much with the increadible scene that he had to scrunch them shut to avoid so much light hurting him.The hall was so large but yet felt so cossy at the same time , each table lined with marvelous colours and decorations that made no matter where you were sorted look like the one you were hoping for all along. He could see all the houses he had heard about , Gryffindor , Slytherin , Ravenclaw and Hufflepuff. They all looked so inticing. This however was the moment he had been dreading all day since he realised he would be doing it.Sorting.It was not so much where he was sorted but just the feeling of sitting up there all alone and isolated on a stool with everyone in the hall watching you intentively , casting judgement and making there decisions about you already. His heart was racing , pounding going so fast he feared when his name was said he would just die but instead when his name was said it just stopped and nothing seemed to matter. The only thing in the room was him and the hat , walking rather shakily but steadily near the end he moved towards the chair and his Future house. The hat felt so odd but unusually calming , a nice feature but this was it , the moment of the night.Where to go?.

"HUFFLEPUFF!"

Meyke walked onto the Great Hall. She saw may of old students and there was a little new students. She felt nervous but she try to do the best. Then, se heard that her name has been repeated twice. Then, she get the sorting hat and used it on her head. She is trying to listen what have the sorting hat had said. She didn't care if its put her to a spesific dormitory. She knows that it will be nice for her.

"You are a SLYTHERIN!"

Oscar had waited for a lot of things in his life. He had waited for someone to encourage him on his dancing rather than put him down. He had waited to find a friend, he had waited for something good to happen to him. But he had never thought that he would have to wait until he's turned 11 for his life to really begin. He had always believed that he would just continue on struggling through dance school until finally kicked him out and he would go to attend muggle school. Never had be believed that he was a wizard. An actual wizard. Often he had made things happen without one word of explanation, but the thought wizard never once crossed his mind. Oscar had never first thought that Lily would be a witch. He had longed to be one since her letter bit a part of him had believed that it wouldn't happen, that Lily would be the lucky one and as per usual he'd be the one left behind. Oscar had been over noted when his letter came. It was final he was a wizard.

Oscar hadn't minded going to the station himself. Lily had stayed near the castle. Oscar hadn't minded spending the whole time alone in silence just watching the winter scenery fly by him. He didn't mind having to wear the school uniform, pre sorting. Oscar couldn't wait. If anything he was glad to do these things alone. It meant he had a lot more time to himself. To think and think. Oscar was happy to finally be going towards something that he wanted. Oscar now stood outside the Great Hall all the other first years surrounding him. It felt amazing. So empowering. There was a silence. Oscar had named it the Silence before the storm. 2 days ago all these people were getting to know each other. Meeting and playing, now they would be split into 4 groups of people. Oscar didn't mind this. He liked it. It was interesting to watch he was sure. He could see that some of these were clearly of one house and then others it was not so clear. Oscar knew very little about the houses themselves. He knew that his sister was in Slytherin, and that was not where he wanted to be. Henwanred to bein a house that Lily would hate him for being in. He didn't want to be a slytherin. And yet something told him he might just be one.

The door to the Great Hall opened, and the first years began to walk in. Oscar smiled to himself. He was ready. He really was. He would forever remember that moment where he stepped in the grandest of halls. With his head held high and his inner voice rejoyicing in his brain. His brown hazel eyes darted from thing to thing and person to person. They were all looking directly at the line Of first years. Oscar tried to find his sister but there really was no way of finding her plus it was not as if she would be looking for him. Oscar raised a hand and scratched his cheek just as the crowd made it to the front of he hall. Oscar looked at the stool. He was quite tall for 11, and better built, so even from quite far back in the group he was able to see the hat on the stool. A hat. Lily had mentioned that. Oscar smiled, so Lily did tell the truth at times. Oscar watched the hat as he broke into song. Oscar thought it was quite weird and yet expected in the wizarding world. He was getting impatient. He looked down at his feet and then looked back up when the head master began to read out names. He was just standing wih his hands in his pockets, all fingers crossed waiting for the man to say his name, then finally

Fossil, Oscar

Oscar pushed his way through the crowd and walked up to the stool. He was tense and nervous but was desparately trying to relax. He sat down on the stool and waited for the hat to be placed on his head. His eyes glanced over to the slytherin table and he saw his sister turn away. In that moment as the hat was placed on his head he felt more connected with his sister than ever. Not Slytherin.

"Not Slytherin? Alright. RAVENCLAW!"

Yorick looked at all the older students, staring at them as they entered. He felt nevous under all these stares, he didn't know why. He'd performed for much larger audiences, why did this bother him? He sighed as he wiped sweat from his brow. He tried to remember what his father had told him.

"Just act like a King in a play, Yorick, look proud and unafraid."

That was proving to be more difficult than anticipated. He heard the names being called, the houses being cried, the rousing cheers from the tables and he grew even more nervous.

"Brightrune, Yorick!" he heard a professor call, he gulped heavily. He walked slowly up to the hat. The hat intimidated him, it was a talking hat after all, and it seemed to stare at him with it's eyeless gaze. He gulped again. King in a play, he reminded himself, Macbeth, wait no he went insane, GAH what'do I do... The hat was lowered. Crap crap crap crap crap...

"Calm down. Nothing you can say, or do, or act like will change what happens now. Hmmm. You're a GRYFFINDOR!"

The hat was lifted from Yorick's head, it had been oddly silent under the hat, as if he had been deafened.

When it was gone sound rushed back into his ears and he was greeted by cheers from the Gryffindor table. He stared at the hat for a moment, unsure if he'd heard that right.

Gryffindor? Him? He didn't picture himself as brave. He hardly knew how to act when he wasn't on stage... Perhaps the hat knew something he didn't. Despite the worry circulating in his head he beamed at the reception he was getting. Applause, THAT was something he was used to. He had to resist the reflex to bow, Time and place, Yorick, he reminded himself. He approached the table feeling hands clap his slender shoulders, sitting down and looking at his new comrades.

It was a long journey from her mansion to Hogwarts, Hayley was quiet exhausted. She then walk up the stairs with the rest of the group as she cast her sight straight to the door of the great hall. There weren't any expression on her face, soon cold looks appear on her face as she look at some unsorted students that looked scared and nervous. She couldn't understand why people would shiver from the hat, it was just a hat. Not long after that, the door was opened and the unsorted students enter the room. The 4 tables appeared in her sight as she smirked looking at the corner of her eyes. Hayley tapped her feet to the ground waiting without a patience as her fingers started tapping on her arms until someone called her name.

Huberta, Hayley

Hayley put on her famous cold looks as she walk towards the stool and sat down as the attention of the students dawned to her. She eyed the tables carefully as the hat was being placed on her head. `Make it fast, I don't wait` As her fingers tapped on her knee waiting to be sorted.

"You'll wait as long as I make you. See, the thing is, nobody gets in to a house or gets taught at this school without coming through me. Surely you want to learn about magic? Right. That's what I thought. Now, this would have been a lot quicker without your snarky little thoughts. How ever will you become popular with your attitude. Hmmm... Yes, yes. No doubt here. SLYTHERIN!"

Silence filled the Great Hall as the many would-be first year students clattered in, all very different in appearance, background and personality. Well, most of them. Sophie looked around eagerly for her brother. It was hard to see who was who through all the black cloaks and the many nervous young faces. Every now and then, Sophie could hear a students name being called. It was nearing the 'Ks' and her stomach turned over. Never had she felt so scared in her life. And now it was her turn; "Kain, Sophie!" the voice called out. She could feel eyes on her as she walked. Sophie's face was pale. She felt sick. So sick. When she reached the front of the Great Hall, things did not get any better.. Sophie allowed herself to perch on the edge of the stool, to notice the many faces directed at her. She swallowed hard. Come on, she thought to herself, be brave.. think about how eager you were to come here.. Think about having a laugh with Katie.. It was as though someone had turned a bright light on in her head and Sophie's heart lifted. The only thing better than the thought of Katie and her making mud pies, as the hat was lowered onto her head, would be Katie holding her hand. And then came a moment of silence before Sophie heard those life-changing words..

"You're quite eager to learn, I see. Well then, I won't hinder you. RAVENCLAW!"

Eleona walked into the Great Hall and smiled nervously. Although her stomach was bubbling and she felt like she was going to puke, it was totally worth it. Today she was going to find where she belonged! Any house would be good to her, after all they all were good in some ways. She sat down and watched the students one by one stride over to the hat, looking ever confident. No matter what happened today she would grin and bear it. Finally, the elderly man called her name, "Bexley, Eleona!" A sudden burst of confidence overcame her and she strode up to the stool, sat, and waited. As she was blinded with darkness, she just realized, 'Oh my god... I'm finally here.'

"You're quite considerate of others, I see. You'd be a grand HUFFLEPUFF!"

Isabella and other aspiring first years walked down the great hall, they passed rows of students as they walked pass by. The great hall was decorated of green and silver, it was not her type of color but it looks great. As the group stop in front of the staff table where Professors and Staffs are seated, a high stool and an old hat sat upon it in the middle. Then a white old male started to talk and the hat sing, after the hat sing, the old man talked again, this time calling names. Isabella observed as each students where called and sat upon the high stool, they where sorted in different houses. As it was her turn to be sorted, everyone in the hall got quiet, Isabella ignore this and walked confidently at t he high stool and sat. She breath deeply once the old hat went at the top of her head, Isabella can't believe that she will be sorted anytime soon, Thank you for accepting me this school, it is an honor for me to be here. Just sort me where I belong and I will accept whatever it is She thought politely as once her Father told her that the hat can read your mind. Isabella smiled as she waited patiently for the hat to speak.

"Polite, huh? Well, that's very Hufflepuff. But your eagerness to learn and intelligence places you in RAVENCLAW!"

Grace Winter was ready. She was excited and jumpy. She couldn't wait. She was stood outside the Great Hall, with her heart hammering against her chest. She had had a sorrowful goodbye. Tears had fallen from her cheeks as well as her brothers. He was so cute and she couldn't imagine having to be away from him for so long, and yet she was going to have to be. Gracey had sat herself on the train, by choice rather than no one had taken to sitting next to her. Grace had wanted time to start writing her first letter back home. She was going to be updating her family on everything that was happening. Although she hadn't spent the entire time writing, she had taken a very long time. The young girl wasn't put off by her lack of socialisation on the train. She had all the time in the world to do that once she actually began at Hogwarts, and who was to say that anyone she met would be her friend after sorting. The entire first year class was placed into houses, and Grace was sure that, that changed people, it made them change there personality. This little witch didn't want that to happen to her. She would always be true to herself. Confident and comfortable in her own skin. Grace looked around her. The entrance hall was so grand. Grace felt tiny in comparison. Gracey pulled on her shirt, feeling uncomfortable under the restrictive clothing. How she longed for her big jumpers. And then, the doors opened.

Grace knew that she would be one of the last to be sorted. Her name was Winter. And she was sure there were not many people who had a name that came after hers. She didn't mind this, not at all. She would get to see others and how the acted. Grace had lilked to stand out but it wasn't in the fashion that most others did. Her dark brown eyes watched the line of first years as they began to walk into the hall. Gracey followed, at a slower pace. Her eyes were wide and the excitment could almost be smelt off her. She was smiling, a lot. Grace looked up at the roof, and then around to the tables. Everything was amazing, she couldn't wait to start. To learn. Grace's brown hair moved rapidly with the movement of her head as she looked from table to table, with students lined in uniforms, people were whispering, leaning into each other. Couples held hands and groups of friends silently held back giggles. Grace wondered what friendships she would make. Who she would meet. What boys would like her. Everything seemed kind of unreal to her. Grace gave a small giggle to herself. This is going to be epic. Grace thought to herself as she stood at the back of the crowd of new first years. Grace was small, she could barely see over anyone, and now felt a little silly for having let herself go to the back. But she did not need to see, she could hear. The hat, began to sing. This made Grace's day. She couldn't wait to write about it to her dad and brother. Grace clapped the loudest out of all in the hall, she whistled and wooped. That hat, was AMAZING. Grace then waited, and waited. listening to each name and then the house. She watched as the crowd thinned. Slowly she could see the front. Grace waited, and waited. Soon, she kept telling herself. Soon. Grace was not an impatient person but as she waited and waited and her heart beat harder and faster against her ribs, she was growing impatient. Then at long last, her name came.

Winter, Grace

As Grace walked up to the stool, she couldn't help but feel that her name sounded better backwards rather than forward. Winter Grace, made more sense in a sentence rather than Grace Winter. For Grace winter to be in a sentence you would have to insert Gracefully in Winter. Which didn't make much sense either. Grace laughed in her head, at how silly she was being, thinking about her name backwards. Grace's usual big smile was plastered on her face and she waited, and then the ever famous sorting hat was placed on her head. She knew he would make the right decision. That was his purpose, if she didn't agree with it, she had been wrong about herself. That wouldn't change her. She waited. Soon she would know.

"Winter Grace sounds better, I agree. At any rate, you are a GRYFFINDOR!"

Kai walked into the Great Hall and sat, not even acknowledging anyone. He muttered to himself, "Bloody hell, why couldn't I go to Dumstrang?" As he noticed the grand archetecture in the hall, he sat unimpressed, after all it was just like his home. Why bother acting like something was greater then it was? He slouched and began watching the new students walk up and get into a house. This was too boring. He thought, 'Why bother admitting mudbloods? It would save so much more time.' Finally, the sorting hat called him, and he waltzed up boldly. The hat was placed on his head and he winced, couldn't it be a bit more comfortable? He just scoffed and let out a semi-loud 'Hn.' and from there, was ready to be sorted.

"You try to feel comfortable sitting on people's heads after thousands of uses every year for hundreds of years.
SLYTHERIN!"

Andrea Kallos stood amongst the crowd. Her eyes glancing all over the room. Her heart pounded against her ribs. She couldn't believe today was the day she had been so discreetly looking forward to. She still didn't get the whole magic thing, or the whole house thing. But that didn't stop her from being over the moon that she was finally here. Andrea tugged at her uniform as the huge hall went silent and the headmaster spoke. The man definitely freaked her out, he looked like someone who just walked out of a horror film, but all those thoughts stopped immediately when...is that a hat?! Andie bounced onto the tips of her toes and maneuvered her head around the large crowd in front of her, trying to get a glimpse of the singing hat.

And then, the Headmaster began to call names and at this stage Andie couldn't place how she was feeling. Her stomach was in knots and her heart thumped louder, she didn't know whether that was with excitement or anxiousness. The crowd slowly began to become smaller and smaller and then, "Kallos, Andrea". Andrea took a deep breath before moving. She was pretty much dumbstruck with what was going on, but she was just going to roll with things and pretend she knew what she was doing. Andie made her way through the crowd, she could feel eyes on her, but it didn't make her feel uncomfortable. Just excited, she liked all this attention on her. Andie sat on the stool as the many students before her had and as the hat slid over her eyes she gasped silently. This is insane she thought to herself with amusement, she almost wanted to take the hat off and properly examine it. She certainly would get great amusement out of a singing, talking, hat.

"Well, I'm glad I can amuse you. Yes, I read your thoughts, too! Well, these thoughts tell me one thing: GRYFFINDOR!"

Luke walked in amongst the other children who would soon be in his year. So much had happened so very fast and for a moment, Luke was pondering the letter that had brought him here, the letter which started it all..

Luke had spent many days just watching from his window, trying to catch a glimpse of Harriet- but to no avail. He had sighed, wondering if she had ever been real at all or if he was just truly going mad. The strange things had been happening to him much more often lately and it was getting to him so much so that he was even considering telling one of the staff at the children's home about it. A new day had dawned and Luke had awoken at an odd hour for a Saturday; 4 am. He didn't realize what had woken him from his deep slumber until he had looked out of his window, expecting to see the moon.. But, instead, and rather unhappily, he had been met, as the window opened, by a large bar owl flapping in his face. He had swatted at the creature, accidentally bopping it over the head and rendering it unconscious. Feeling guilty and panicked, Luke had lain the bird on his bed to nurse it back to health. As he had done this, he found himself noticing something- A letter. Luke had taken it from the owl and stared at it: It was addressed to him. The moment he had opened the letter with a slight rip of the seal, the bird awoke, stood up in a seemingly satisfied way, and took off out the window..

Luke remembered fondly how those words had looked on the paper, how he had stared, open mouthed at them, for over twenty minutes. How he had tried to fool himself into thinking that this was a prank by one of the children at the home. A fire in his heart had been lit that day and, as Luke heard his name called, he walked proudly to the provided stool, sat down and awaited the verdict from.. From an old hat.

"You've a lot to learn, specifically about magic. Yes. And what better place to learn than in RAVENCLAW?!"

It was finally the day for sorting, and Claude couldn't be more nervous. They were calling names every minute or so, and the kid would go up to the hat and get sorted. Claude was excited for his turn, but you couldn't tell because of all of his nervous shivering. He straightened his back and said to himself, "Ok Claude, this is the big day. The day of sorting. You can do this, you can do this." Claude took a deep breath and closed his eyes. When he heard his name called, his eyes shot open, and he got up slowly. With all the other kids' eyes on him, he walked up to the chair at the end of the Great Hall. Claude sat down and the hat was placed on top of his head. Claude squinted his eyes, so tightly that it looked like he was in pain, and inhaled quickly. "Oh please... let this please be the right choice..." Claude said in a whisper.

"Of course it's going to be the right choice! I'm the Sorting Hat! And you are a RAVENCLAW!"

Sureya Eidos entered the Great Hall along with all the other students and shuffled her way to the front of the room as if she had no choice. Indeed at times she felt as if they were lambs to the slaughter as they slowly progressed forward. The headmaster spoke to them before beginning to call each student to try on the sorting hat. She felt nervous which was not a usual trait for her but this was after all a momentus occasion in her otherwise relatively short mundane life. Soon it was her turn and weaving her way through the other first year students she made her way to the front then up the steps to where the stool was. Sitting down she waited for the headmaster to place the hat on her head. She felt the worn fabric touch her head and in that moment all nervousness fled.

It felt more relaxing to have something so old and so trusted on her head than to stand in amongst a crowd of strangers. Not knowing what was expected of her she began to whisper.
"Good evening" her soft voice was light and airy as she spoke only to the hat, "I've heard all about you. It's a great honour to finally have you on my head. I'll just sit here and let you do your thing."
She nodded her head slowly hoping she hadn't upset the hat in any way by her chatting to it.

"Another polite one. Bright, too. But more like Helga than Rowena. Yes, you're a HUFFLEPUFF!"

Isabella wasn't exactly happy. She was in an old and dusty castle, with brick walls and a stupid black uniform, instead of the palace of Beauxbatons, with the silk blue uniform, that even Isabella would say was the best bit of fashion ever. Isabella wasn't a hogwarts girl. She was a beauxbatons girl forced to be at Hogwarts. At least she was with her twin. At that thought she felt Ostensia squeeze her hand. Isabella looked around and smiled at her twin, who looked a lot more excited that Isabella. Isabella looked away from her sister and to around the entrance hall. Why was she stuck here, it was so silly. So far from home, and in a country whose language Isabella hated. She loved Italian, she loved being Italian, she loved being European. It was amazing. It was everything, everyone was close. The European Union, was the best thing about being fully Italian. But Isabella wasn't anywhere near there now. She was stuck in New Zealand. Which had a British flag in the corner. She always smiled at that thought. New Zealand were a tiny bit European. Isabella felt Ostensia tug on her hand just the crowd of first years began to be walk into the hall.

There was no stopping now, she was a Hogwarts girl, wearing the uniform, about the eat the food. She didn't like it, but that was that. She would put up with it, for Ostensia. Because she too had to be far away from home and she was doing a lot better at it that Isabella was. Isabella looked at her sister, and smiled. She couldn't wait to do this sorting business. It was odd, being allocated a place of belonging. She wanted to see, where she belonged and if Ostensia belonged there with her or if they were really that different that they could not be sorted into the same house. Isabella hoped that they were, serectly, she would never tell her sister that she actually needed her. Isabella didn't know much english at all. It was slow and scratchy. Ostensia was a lot better, she would be the one to do it for her. She would translate things. Even though Isabella knew that Ostensia did not know much more that Isabella. Isabella looked at all four tables. She was sure this kind of thing didn't happen at Beauxbatons, people were allowed to form there own divisions, rather than the school itself.

Isabella's attention was dragged away from her mind as she was face with a hat on a stool. The hat would go on her head. Isabella instantly reached up and flattened her blonde hair, that sat messily. She would've brushed it, but all belongs had been taken off them and they were only left with the uniforms on their backs. Isabella didn't have a small enough brush to be able to fix her hair. She pushed these thoughts of imperfections to the back of her mind, and then watched as the hat broke out into song. Isabella's eyes widened, A singing hat. A singing hat. Really? SO odd. Isabella however had no clue what the hat was saying. She couldn'y understand him. He sang too quickly. She wasn't used to the english being spoken this fast. Isabella now worried, would he understand her. She thought only in Italian. That was it. She wondered if she would even understand the head master when he said her name. She really did hope so. Isabella did not want to look like an idiot in front of the whole school. The names began. She squeezed Ostensia hand, to show she was quite nervous. Isabella did not glance at her twin. She was suddenly aware of her eyes. Ones that the whole school would stare at. They were purple. That was different. It was odd. And it wasn't by some birth defect that they were like that. Isabella never listened to her twin when she said Isabella was beautiful anyway. Ostensia didn't know, Isabella was jealous of her perfect blue eyes. Isabella took in a deep breath as the head master neared the R's. Not before long, Isabella heard her name, spoken in a very New Zealandy tone. Difficult to make out.

Romanes, Isabella

Isabella felt Ostensia let go of her hand and nudge her forward slightly. Isabella took a deep breath and then walked up to the stool. She sat down on it, and looked down at her hands, she didn't want people to see her eyes. But as the sorting hat was about to be placed on her head, she looked up and smiled at her twin. This was it. Either her and Ostensia would be together, or they wouldn't. Isabella just hoped the hat knew Italian, because she couldn't translate and they would maybe be there a while.

"I'm magic. I know Italian. And a lot more. I also know you're a SLYTHERIN!"

Hiria was very nervous, yet very excited at the same time. the Sorting hat was getting closer to calling out her name, until finally, she heard: HallButcher,Hiria, being called out. She slowly but surely made her way up to the sorting hat, but hoping she wouldn't trip over her robes or her feet. The Sorting Hat was slowly lowered onto her head. "I really hope i get hufflepuff! I'm not brave enough for Gryffindor, I'm not Smart enough for Ravenclaw, and i REALLY don't want to be in Slytherin. Hufflepuff is the only place i would fit in.", Hiria thought pleadingly.

"Not smart enough for Ravenclaw? You're eager to learn and plenty wise. You are most certainly a RAVENCLAW!"

Faxen Lowart walked into the Great Hall. Her brown locks fell around her shoulders as she stared at her surroundings. The little girl's jaw dropped as she looked out at the vast hall and the number of students gathered there. Quickly she closed her mouth, remembering that her mother always said that made her look like a codfish. She smiled as she remembered the old muggle movie that her mother stole that from. Faxen waited impatiently as the sorting process began. Finally, she heard her name. "Lowart, Faxen!"

The young girl made her way quickly to the stool at the front of the room. She wiggled and fidgited as she listened to the hat talk. Faxen had never had the gift of patience. Her honey eyes were wide, wondering if everyone else heard what she was hearing.

"Patience is something that might do you well, young GRYFFINDOR!"

Ostensia was more excited about this than she had ever been in her entire life. All Christmases, birthdays and family gatherings combined did not amount to excitment that Ostensia was feeling right at the moment standing outside the Great Hall in New Zealand thousands of miles away from any other family member. Ostensia glanced at Isabella and smiled encouragingly at her while squeezing her hand lightly. She was ready for this, but Ostensia knew that learning in English would pose a very big problem for them both. Ostensia had gotten lessons in english but they did by no means actually help Ostensia. Yes she knew a lot more, but a lot of people in New Zealand spoke a lot faster than the tutor had. It would be hard, and Ostensia feared that Isabella if it proved too diffcult would just give and go home. Ostensia didn't want this happen, she cared about Isabella and had done so much to get them to New Zealand in the first place. She really hoped that no matter what happen Ostensia would be able to keep Isabella from the family. She wouldn't mind about cousins, but it was the adults. Ostensia noticed that the doors to the Great Hall were opening, she couldn't help but let out a small squee of excitment, before pulling Isabella into the hall with her.

Ostensia was aware that it would look a little strange that her and her twin were holding hands, not many knew that they were twins, which meant they might just assume something about Ostensia and her twin but ever since they had checked out the hotel room that morning Ostensia had kept a hand on her sister. She couldn't be separated from her. Neither knew English and Ostensia didn't want to be the one to write to her family telling them the story of how she manged to lose her twin. Ostensia pushed these thoughts out her mind as she walked into the great hall. It was so grand, and seemingly both old and new. Ostensia did have to admit it was no Italy, no Venice. It didn't have the colour or the feel that she felt when in Venice, there wasn't the jovial tone of the italians talking to each other lively and in a tongue Ostensia knew. Ostensia smiled back at her twin. She was glad Isabella was smiling. It was hopefully a good sign. She really wanted Isabella to be happy, and while Ostensia was completely aware that this was not what Isabella would've wanted a smile, made Ostensia more confident that things would be alright. She turned her mind away from her twin, and to Hogwarts itself. How amazing it would be. How much she couldn't wait until she was given a class list and made to do things, given homework. Ostensia was well prepared for school. She had several Italian to English books. She wouldn't fall behind. And nor would Isabella. They would both work together and pass together. This was if, they had the same house.

Ostensia had known about the hat, but it still surprised her to see it. It was odd, she wondered how it would be possible for a hat to do anything but be an accesory. Ostensia watched as the hat began to sing. She made out a few words but that hat sang too fast and too well for Ostensia to have a full understand of what he was saying. Ostensia smiled at it, pleased to just watch it sing. Ostensia when the song ended felt her hand be squeezed again, she looked down at it briefly, before looking back towards the front, she smiled to herselg. Ostensia was wishing with all her heart that they would be sorted together. In the same house, surely the hat might understand that Ostensia needed for Isabella to be in the same house as herself, so that Ostensia could step in if anything came to harm Isabella. She had to protect her sister. It was very important. So very Important. Name call began and Ostensia waited for Isabella's name. As soon as it was called she pushed her sister forward towards the stool. Ostensia stood her hand now bare and watched her sister be sorted. She had forced Isabella to not wear contact lenses and watching her look down at her hands, made Ostensia feel terrible. She kept smiling, and thankfully her sister looked up at her right at the very last moment and smiled. Ostensia nodded her head slightly and then smiled encouragingly. Isabella was sorted in Slytherin, Ostensia had to hold in a groan, she was sure there would be no possible way that she woulf be sorted into Slytherin. Now she hoped to be in the same house, she hoped hard, because it didn't seem like she would be, Ostensia would have to see.

Romanes, Ostensia

Ostensia walked straight forward and sat down on the stool with no hesitation or pausing, her gaze found her sisters who was now sitting at one of the four tables, the Slytherin one. She looked around at the other people in the hall. Altought Ostensia was suddenly quite nervous her smile made it seem like she wasn't at all. As the hate was placed onto her head, Ostensia found her sisters gaze again and smiled at her. This would hopeful only take a second and Ostensia could sit beside her sister. Ostensia knew she wasn't really Slytherin material, she was generally nice, but she wanted to be with her sister. Ostensia crossed her fingers.

"No, I don't take requests to be put in a certain house based on the people you already know. You'll meet plenty of new people, and make plenty of new friends, in HUFFLEPUFF!"

Thankful to be off the train, Bella moved quickly and chose one of the first boats, and jumped on. She waited eagerly to get her first look of Hogwarts. As they rounded the corner, she took a deep intake of breath. She was in awe of Hogwarts. Bella walked up to the front of the stairs, and waited to be let into the school.
Bella walked up the Great Hall, looking around at the beautifulness of of the place. She stopped abruptly at the front.
Bella watched as the other to-be first years walked up to get sorted. Unfortunately Bella's last name was White, so she had to wait awhile.
Finally her name was called. She walked confidently up to the sorting hat. She sat down, and placed it on her head.
I would like to be in Slytherin. Bella thought. She had heard that the sorting hat takes their wants into consideration. She waited, and hoped.

"You could be in nearly any house, it seems. Helga liked to take the people who didn't seem to take to one house more than any others... What's that? You'd like Slytherin? Well, I don't see why not. Alright. SLYTHERIN!"

The day, the day. It had finally come... Three years of long boring waiting, and Alexandra was finally standing with the other first years inside the renowned castle, anxiety boiling through her blood in waves, but it wasn't only anxiety when she thought about it, it was also near overwhelming excitement. Three years... and the magical day had finally come, Tempus fugit - time flees.

She watched as the grand doors opened, she watched as she and her future classmates walked in, the four tables out before her. If she wasn't constantly reminding her to stay conscious, she might have well passed out from sheer excitement, again. As she did when the letter had arrived on that 11th November.

"Hohenstein, Alexandra."

She heard it, but not without much difficulty. Walking up the Gret Hall felt so surreal to her. Well, it felt real, it sounded real, it seemed real... basically every sense she had was telling her it was real. Still she feared that she would wake up in her bed, early in the morning and discovering that it was all but a mere dream, as a normal muggle would.

She paced up a bit, stepping up to the stool as confidently as her anxious nerves allowed and sat down. Seconds later The Hat slid over her head and she subsequently drew a deep breath and closed her eyes.

'Good evening...' She started, hesitantly in her mind, 'Whatever you wish to be addressed as, but I think I will stick to the German Sie. So... ' She continued, breathing in deeply again to calm her nerves down, then she switched over to her mother tongue somewhat smoothly, 'It is my sincere pleasure to have You on my head.'

"Why thank you. You're one of the few who realize that. Yes, yes. You've a fine head on your shoulders, you do. You're a RAVENCLAW!"

Annika filed into the Great Hall at the back of the group of new students. As soon as they stepped inside, Annika's brain went into overdrive, as she looked around, her already large eyes rounder than ever. She immediatly tried to figure out how the candles hovered above the tables, seemingly unsupported. They could be project there, she thought, but they looked very real. She forced herself to leave it until later, as she came to a halt with the rest of the group. Annika shifted, a little uncomfortable in the long robes. She wasn't used to this sort of clothing, she normally dressed practically. A girl in front turned to her, looking absolutely terrified. Annika remained calm, her face blank.

Names began to get called, and Annika watched as the first student walked up to the podium, sat on a stool, and had a hat placed on their head. The hat shouted something that Annika had never heard of, and the student went to join one of the four tables. Annika blinked. This must be some sort of process placing each student in an appropriate group. She wondered what it was judged on. The teacher progressed through the list, before coming Annika's name. "Lansden, Annika" Annika stayed where she was for several seconds, before walking through the group, which had thinned slightly. She walked up to the stool and sat down, her expression still completely unreadable. She didn't feel any nerves as she sat down, and looked out at the many students staring up at her. The hat was placed on her head, and she was surprised when it began to speak. She waited for it to give her an answer.

"You're difficult. Hmm. I'll put you in HUFFLEPUFF!"
