The Sorting Ceremony Y45

Noah was so excited to start his journey at Hogwarts. His parents had told him and his brother and sister so many stories about it growing up. All of the adventures they had been on, how they'd met, all the classes and cool things they were involved in. He was sure not to be bored here! Unlike muggle school. The boy crinkled his nose at the thought. He hadn't a clue how on earth normal people went to such a boring school all their lives. Seriously, nothing ever happened and the subjects there really weren't all that interesting. He smiled at the thought that perhaps it was because they simply didn't - or rather, couldn't - know any better. The wizarding world was just way cooler. It was a fact. He quickly covered his mouth however as he realised how mean he was being, feeling a bit guilty for thinking such a thing. It wasn't their fault they were born that way.

Noah blinked as he noticed they were big ushered into one side of the room, before they stopped. Of course! They were about to be shown the Great Hall. Where they were to be sorted. Naturally, his mom and dad had told him the procedure so he'd be prepared. Everyone from the older years would stare at the group of incoming first years from the moment they stepped foot in the room. Noah didn't mind. It made him a little nervous, but he'd get over it. He glanced around as the massive doors opened, and noticed the girl he'd become acquainted with also there. He couldn't say he wasn't relieved to see someone he recognised. His shoulders automatically relaxed, and his slight nervousness was instead replaced with eagerness. These next seven years were going to be so much fun. He had no doubt he was going to make a lot of friends here.

Noah was aware of the fact that he didn't have to wait long for his name to be called out, kind of in his own thoughts with all the ideas of what he was going to get involved in, and all the things he was going to learn. But first things first: he had to have the hat dropped on his head. A hat that would determine his second home for the next seven years. When his name was finally called (it felt like forever!), the first-born Cosgrove child made his way up the steps and onto the stool. He was sure whichever house he would end up in, it would be the right choice.

"It will be the right choice, and I can see you'd be a fit for most of our houses. Most would suit you well, and I think you would make a rather good Ravenclaw, but I think you will find yourself more suited in...Hufflepuff,"

durex24 was ready and prepared for anything, this was his biggest moment in his whole life, waiting to be sorted to decide what sort of person they will later turn out to be in life.

"This will be one of the biggest moments of your life, but it will not entirely define you. However, for you, I do see an easy choice....Hufflepuff,"

Zora Jackson had begged for this moment although now as she walked up in front of seven years of students, professors, and other staff she could hardly remember why she wanted to skip out on her comforts of home for something like school. Still the girl knew it was far, far too late for her to take back her decision and instead she opted to focus on something small, like the laces on her shoes as she walked forwards until she took a seat and waited for a dirty old hat to be placed on top of her head. She quickly corrected herself, a dirty, old omniscient hat, if a thing like that could be believed. Zora felt like this was all random so when the hat was put on her she started to think of muggle advertisement song's to see if this hat could really move past her loud thoughts and actually make sense of it. She suspected that the hat usually made familial connections and that was it but neither Zora's mother or father had been to any Hogwarts. She suspected that she would be chided by the hat which normally would send Zora running to the hills but it was a hat so she didn't think she could upset the it or any person nearby.

"This is an interesting song, though mine was better...But that's not why we're here...I'm here to decide where you go...and I can see a few paths you could take, but the best one for you is found in...Hufflepuff,"

This had been something which Apolline had been looking forward to for a long while. She was finally at Hogwarts. The young girl had been building this place up in her head, had been eager for all she would learn for a while, but it was made a little difficult in being the daughter of the current minister. She wondered if the Holland daughters had felt like this when their mother had been in power and they were at school. Apolline had said goodbye to her family and nervously made the journey to school, physically stopping herself from trying to get started and reading the books she needed to. Apolline just wanted to do well, she just didn’t want to let her parents down. She didn’t want to bring shame or disrepair to the Fontaine name, not when her mother was the minister for magic. It didn’t help that this was the school she had attended, both her parents had, and her mother had been head girl.

Apolline wondered if it might’ve been better to fight for going to beauxbatons where at least no one would know who she was and there could be no legacy to her either. But it didn’t matter now, she was physically at Hogwarts and standing in front of the sorting hat. The song it was singing was quite something, she had known to expect it, but really it was quite interesting to finally see it after hearing so much about it. Apolline glanced about her class, and noticed a couple of kids from the day care centre, though unfortunately not many she was actually friendly with. Apolline had always been more worried about being a good student, and not getting into any fights with people than she had been about making friends.

The names began being called and immediately Apolline began smoothing down her uniform. She would pretty early on. Apolline had no preference, her parents had been Gryffindor and Hufflepuff respectively, and for her the house itself didn’t matter. She knew that her mother had issues with how some slytherin we had treated her, but did not as a whole dislike the house. Apolline knew it wouldn’t matter the house, it was how she was in the house. How she then behaved and did in the house. Apolline trying to tidy her blonde hair, though without a mirror she wasn’t sure how it was sitting. But it didn’t matter because clear upon the hall, her name was called, Apolline reacted immediately, taking a small nervous step forward and then taking a much more normal step towards the stool. She glanced out across the hall and wondered what the next seven years would bring her. She closed her eyes as the hat was place on her head and tried to just be calm.

"You've got quite a bit of pressure on those shoulders and a drive to prove yourself and live up to your family name. You have a good mind for learning, but Ravenclaw won't quite help you towards your goals. No, you belong in...Gryffindor!"

Helios had been nervous the whole train ride, no one else seemed to realise that trains could be so dangerous. Every time there had been some rattling or some movement he hadn’t expected, Helios had wanted to leave the train. But he had made it. He was at the school and maybe in future he could try and just get his sister to bring him, she only worked at the mall, that was close enough surely. Surely the school would allow it. Helios followed the other students in his class into the great hall, and he was moving as if to dodge the floating candles above him. Didn’t they drip hot wax? Wouldn’t that happen?

The hall itself was a pretty place, even if the candles were a hazard. Though as he watched them, barely noticing where everyone else was going. He noticed that the candles were burning endlessly without diminishing. So safe. It just led him to not noticing that other students and walking straight into someone. They didn’t seem particularly happy about it, and Helios shied away from them. He noticed the twins he’d met on the train and some from the day care centre he had attended. None of them he was going to speak to now, though he was a little curious as to where they would end up.

Helios muttered a quick apology to the person he knocked into just as the hat began singing. Helios knew about this part. His cousin had told him about it, and assured him that it was perfectly safe. Didn’t have any risks with it. Helios glanced around to the tables with all the older students. He spotted his cousin sitting at the ravenclaw table. Helios could see him catch his attention and wave at him, but Helios didn’t wave back and did very much ignore him. Instead, he glanced back forward. It wasn’t that Helios disliked his cousin but more that he didn’t want to accidentally wave at someone else, or get made fun of for waving at his cousin.

Helios didn’t know where he would end up, but it definitely wasn’t going to be ravenclaw. Perhaps he knew a lot about safety but he wasn’t studious in the slightest. The names began being called and Helios watched as other students were called before him, and it took some time before they got to the O’s and therefore to his name. When they did Helios nervously stepped forward, suddenly afraid about what this would be like. He was quickly shaking and wanted nothing more than to leave, but he was pushed forward a little and then his feet kept moving. He didn’t sit in the seat, more perched, ready to bolt at the first sign of danger. He was only hoping that this wouldn’t take long.

"You're keen for this to be quick so let's get right to it. You've got a good mind for where you don't belong, I'll give you that...oh, that would be interesting...yes, you're a Hufflepuff!"

It was a long day, and Violet made no attempt to stifle the yawn that escaped her as they waited to enter the great hall. Why did they have to wait so long? As she waited she looked around at the others trying to work out who should get to know and who she should avoid. She stepped away from one boy who reminded her of Hugo and again who seemed all too chatty and friendly and stood by a girl who seemed like someone she should get to know.
It wasn't long before they were taken into the hall. She had heard about Hogwarts and the great hall from her mums and more recently from her brother who had described it and the ceiling. she had always thought that they were exaggerating when they said how awesome it was going in and having the sky on the ceiling and how grand it looked, the house tables. Green for Slytherin, Red for Gryffindor like her mama had been, Green for Slytherin, Yellow for Hufflepuff, and blue for Ravenclaw. As her eyes rowed along that table, she kept an eye out for her brother. She wasn't going to wave, she wasn't that uncool. but when she saw him they made eye contact for a second before giving a half nod before moving on. Thankfully she didnt have to pretend for long to know him. as soon the hat started to speak or rather sing. She listened to the descriptions of the houses and decided that Slytherin also didnt sound too bad. but she definitely didnt want to be in Ravenclaw with her brother and Hufflepuff didnt sound that great. Soon, names were being called and people were being sorted. Being a stark-west meant that she would be one of the last people to go. Though she was glad at least, it was stark west not west stark.
Finally, it was her turn. She stepped forward trying to look as confident as she could and sat on the stool. Any attempt of looking cool vanished as the oversized hat fell over her eyes she closed them even though it was already dark, and made no difference as she waited for the decision.

"I can see that you have a very specific desire, and while you would manage there perfectly fine, I can see a place where you will excel, and definitely find more like minded people...Slytherin,"

Tabitha had been given explicit instructions that she wasn’t to do anything to modify her robes until at least the sorting was over. This was incredibly difficult for her, seeing as they hand-me-down robes were already fraying from too many sewing spells and Tabitha longed to patch them up with something colourful. There were, apparently, rules that one had to obey in regards to uniforms and breaking them would result in being thrown in the lake to be eaten by monsters – if any of the words that Tabitha’s sort-of auntie had said were true. Tabitha had no reason not to believe it, so she was very concerned.

There were more people in the room than she'd ever seen in her life and Tabitha was just about breaking her neck to look at everybody. She thought the Great Hall was pretty neat and all, but she felt like her heart was being gnawed on by small fuzzy creatures in her chest as she thought about how her parents had stood where she was standing. She was going to have to write a letter tonight to tell them all about it, because she couldn't just run down the stairs and yell into the kitchen when she had news anymore. Tabitha was very sad about that. She hated writing and wondered how she could creatively employ howlers as a replacement.

"Gray, Tabitha" was early enough in the lineup that Tabitha had only fidgeted a small hole in her sleeve, and she was oddly disappointed that her middle name wasn't also called. She liked her middle name; it was so unfair that people had a secret name nobody even used. She went up and sat down on the stool, trying her absolute hardest to look dignified and poised, and not like she'd eaten too many sweets on the train ride and was about to throw up from nerves. Her mums and step-sister had been Hufflepuffs, but she had family in every house and wherever she ended up in was going to result in some kind of entertaining feud over the holidays.

"I can see the line of Hufflepuffs within your family, and while I can see you managing perfectly well in that house, I think you have a little more curiosity, and you might face a better challenge in...Ravenclaw,"

The moment her name was called, she was dumbfounded as if she didn't know what she should do after that. The person next to her had to remind her that she needed to go to the front to get sorted. Her nervousness caused her to almost stumble on the stair. All eyes were on her. When the Sorting Hat was placed on her head, she quietly begged and closed her eyes, nervously hoping she would be sorted into the same House as she had previously sat with. Their friendliness is unlike any House she's encountered.

"I see there is something you deeply desire, a surety that it would be for you. You could've made a decent Gryffindor or even Ravenclaw, but in the end, above all else is what you desire most....Hufflepuff,"

Lando couldn't believe his eyes. Hogwarts actually existed. Magic was real. Lando was going to learn magic. It all felt so strange. Nothing seemed to make sense to him, but here he was. In the school. In their Great Hall. He was to be sorted into his school house. How did school houses even work? His muggle school didn't have any of those.

"Verstappen, Lando"

Lando bit his lower lip when he heard his name being called out. It was his turn. He felt his stomach flip. He stepped up, ready to get sorted.

"Welcome to this new and magical world! it is all very real. I see, that you seek thrills and adventures, and I can think of a place where you will find people just like that and who will seek out these thrills with you...Gryffindor,"

TJ had spent most of the train ride into Hogwarts talking with a small group of people who were also waiting to be sorted so he had to admit that he hoped that he got into houses with them so he would go in knowing people already and to boot they did seem like decent people. He had gathered that the houses grouped people by personalities and he didn’t want to be in a bad house, he didn’t even know what a bad house was though he gathered that there may be one based off of the way the older students seemed to group themselves away from one another. TJ wanted to spend the forseeable future having the most fun he could and he didn’t think it would be possible if he was someone in a bad house.

He thought of his Mom and Dad and how confused they must be when he was apparently a wizard and had never really been more confused in his whole eleven years. The boy watched as teachers spoke then watched as a dusty old hat sung a song. He was shocked but listened for clues. He figured that maybe Gryffindor would be for him because he wanted friends, he wasn’t sure if he was strong being a scrawny eleven year old kind of took that ability away from you and he didn’t think he was particularly bold. The only thing he knew is that none of the houses seemed really bad although Hufflepuff sounded a bit boring for his sake.

TJ waited for his name to be called and listened to the other students before him and what the hat said about them. It seemed like a sassy raggedy thing for something that defied logic to have any sentience. Still he wanted to know more about how this worked and would make a point to ask someone later.

“Bledsoe, Timothy.”

Timothy put his head up and walked as confidently as he could and took a seat. He didn’t know what he should do so he just tugged on the black robes that felt a bit awkward to wear in regular use. He wondered if for every major decision in a wizards life if an item of clothing would make those choices for them or if this was special. With eyes being on him it felt a bit special so he was sure to keep his back straight and his head up as he looked around the room, waiting as patiently as he could.

"Not every decision, just the most important school one…For you, I see, a studious-ness that might place you best in Hufflepuff, though you seem to not want that. But on the other hand, I see a curiosity and keenness for adventure. Hmm…okay then… Before I place you, know too that Ravenclaw might've been a good place for you, just not quite perfect. I think above everything, the best place for you will be...Gryffindor,"

While Amelia had grown up hearing stories from her parents about the school, and while she knew what to expect going into it, she hadn't necessarily banked on how much she would enjoy the day. It had been a big day. Big goodbyes with her parents, big internal emotions because her brother ditched her to go and hang out with his friends and left her alone to her own devices, and big excitement about what was ahead of her. She was finally going to Hogwarts! She could finally start pursuing all her goals and everything she had planned.

As her and her fellow classmates lined up to be sorted, she watched each student who went up intently. She thought it interesting how differently the hat reacted to each student. She wondered how it would behave on her head. She knew, of course, exactly what she wanted, and had a rough guess of where she would end up. Ravenclaw or Slytherin, both of which she would be perfectly happy with and she knew both houses could help her achieve her goals. She did not want to be placed into Gryffindor with her brother. That sounded like a personal nightmare.

Finally it was her turn. Standing in front of the line made her feel a little bit nervous, and as she was called and walked up to sit on the stool, she was intensely aware that everyone was watching, as she had done to each student before her. Knowing that, she stood straight and with as much confidence as she could muster. She sat down on the stool, and carefully avoided making eye contact with anyone so as not to be distracted. She kept her goals clear in her mind as the hat was lowered on to her head. She filled her mind's eye with everything she wanted to achieve. The rest was up to the hat.

"I see both, what you desire and what you do not. I see an ambitiousness that wouldn't go unserved by the house of your desires, but, this intelligence, and this eagerness to learn, that'll serve you best, in the place you'll go...Ravenclaw,"

It was still weird and unbelievable to Celeste that magic actually existed, how could it? It just didn't make sense at all. Yet, when her name was called, she came forward, looking around in a little disbelief and worry. The view was terrific and the amount of people terrible but she slowly took her seat and just tried her best to enjoy the process as much as she could. Her house was just about to be announced...

"Magic is so very real, and you are going to so enjoy the next few years and the place you will do that in, will absolutely allow you to grow as you desire...Hufflepuff,"

Ever was finally here. She was at Hogwarts. The train ride had been interesting to say the least. She hoped Hogwarts had more to offer than a dingy train ride without even first-class seats. Not that Ever would know what a first-class seat was anyway. That was a luxury that she had never experienced. The blonde girl did not dwell on that. She always found a way to get what she wanted. And right now, she wanted to be sorted.

Ever followed the other first years into the Great Hall. She had a huge smile on her face, that always was painful to keep so bright. She wanted to make a good first impression. Her mother always said that 'you catch more flies with honey than with vinegar.' Of course, in this metaphor only, Ever wanted to catch all the flies. She wanted to see all her options before she kept the ones that were of benefit and squashed the rest.

The blonde hair girl stood among her classmates. She glanced around the Great Hall noticing Gemma at the Slytherin table and Bellamy at the Ravenclaw one. Would she follow in one of their footsteps? Ever hoped not. She was never one to be in the shadows. She blazed her own path. She turned around from her siblings as she focused on the speech and the sorting hat's song. It was whatever. When you grow up with magic, a singing hat doesn't seem too impressive, just tacky. A tacky hat that she would have to wear soon as the list of students were called. Ever was luckily not too far down in the list. She walked to the front of the Great Hall when her name was called. She kept the smile on her face as she sat down, worrying about the hat hair that would come of this old fashion ceremony.

The hat was placed on her head. Ever knew the hat had some powers, powers to see what was going on in her mind. That certainly was different than what Ever was used to. She was quite disingenuous, the surface easily projecting what she needed it to. Again, more flies that way. She tried to think in a sweet tone, if that was even possible.Good day Mr. Hat. She thought. I know you are quite busy but please sort me into the best house there is. I know I belong with the best. It was true. She just hoped the hat would have some sense to place her with those who deserved to be in her company. She sat there, trying to keep the smile on her face, but she was rather impatient. The hat literally had one job and it was doing it poorly already.

"The best, huh? They're all the best for someone, but I know what you mean. For you, the best house is quite easy to spot. You're a...Slytherin!"

As he stood still and uncertain in the great hall, a loud echoing voice shouted his name, "Carlo Quezon", confused and a but lost, Carlo didn't realized that he was being called to be sorted and he doesn't even know what that means. "Carlo Quezon!" His name surrounded the hall once more and he unconsciously moved forward quickly without knowing what to do. Professor McGonagall gestured him to sit on the chair found on the center stage. Every step he took was nerve breaking but as he continued moving towards the chair, he managed to take a strong grip and hold the chair still. The moment he sat on that chair, he saw the view of the entire hall with all the house flags, the fact that the ceiling was so high, the floating candles which he can't explain how on earth they were floating and also seeing lurking ghosts at the back of the hall looking like waiting for him until he passed out and die. Carlo went back to the problem at hand when a soft warm hand tapped his shoulder, "Sit still, I will now place the sorting hat" whispered by Professor McGonagall. As he felt the dusty and a bit smelly hat, he also heard murmurs on his head and he thought it was just him talking in his head but no, the hat was talking! He lost his sense of hearing from the loud and curious crowd, he was focused on the voice of the hat. And after a very long silence, the hat shouted a house but Carlo didn't hear it clearly for everything was a blurr and a murmur before he can even ask a question, he slowly fell on the ground and passed out.

"Hufflepuff would help you on your path through the school, but only if you're willing to give it a chance to. If you're sure you prefer somewhere else, I'll sort you into...Gryffindor!"

Zacharias walked through the Great Hall at the back of the line of students, keeping to himself as best as he possibly could. He didn't really have any interest in talking to the others at this stage, and he wasn't sure if that would change. He was more than excited to find himself in the castle, at last, as he had dreamed about this day for years of his life and he couldn't believe that it had finally came. He knew that soon enough he would find himself overwhelmed by all of the classes he was expected to attend, but for now he simply smiled to himself and awaited his turn to approach the sorting hat.

"Chase, Zacharias."

Snapping out of his daydreams while looking around the hall he took a deep breath and approached the aging sorting hat before taking a seat and awaiting the decision that would shape the rest of his stay at this magnificent castle.

"With your desire to figure out who you are and your drive, you won't find a better place for you than Ravenclaw!"

As Gabrielle Nott heard her name getting called. She stood up slowly, very nervous about what the outcome will be. There are high expectations from her parents to get sorted into the best house. She slowly walks up and sits on the chair. As the sorting hat is placed on her head she trusts that the sorting hat will make the best decision for her.

"Your seven years at this school will help you learn all manner of things, magic being just one of them. You've got quite the journey ahead, and it's your journey. Not your parents or anyone else. Better take a seat at Ravenclaw!"

Rebecca took some deep breaths in an attempt to keep herself calm as she waited for her turn to be sorted. She had been waiting for this moment for the longest time since her mother explained the magical world to her. She didn't have to wait too long for her name to be called. She felt all the eyes in the Great Hall on her as she took a seat on the stool. She takes another calming breath as the sorting hat was placed on her head.

"Ooh, this is quite easy. You're meant to be a Gryffindor!"

Violet was quite excited for what was ahead of her. She knew that the day was going to eventually come, and now that it had, she was unable to suppress her emotions. With a smile on her face, the girl followed her year mates into the Great Hall. As the double doors opened, it revealed the four long tables, the enchanted ceiling, and the old and dusty hat that was at the end of their path. For the first time in a while, she felt very small amongst all of this. It would be a challenge for her to be surrounded by a lot of older children, especially since she is the eldest in her immediate family, but she knew that she would get through it with flying colours. She was more than ready to take anything on.

As the sorting hat spoke to them all, and even sang a song, Violet scoffed. A singing hat, that looked like it was on its last legs, was about to be placed on her head. Was this really what they trusted to sort all of their students? As the other children began going up to be sorted, Violet began to wonder where she would end up. Would she be in Slytherin like her parents? Or Gryffindor or Hufflepuff like her cousins? She hoped she wasn’t going to be hard to sort. Her mother told her that she was hard to sort herself. What if the sorting hat took a lot longer to decide than everyone else? She quickly brushed the thought away, just keen to get this over with. She was sure everything was going to be perfectly fine.

Soon enough, Violet’s name was called. She almost skipped over to the sorting hat, and knew instantly that it could hear her as it was placed on her head. “I guess you know what you’re doing, but if you’re confused, something familiar would be best.” Violet hoped the sorting hat knew what she was talking about as she waited for its decision.

"You don't sound very confident in my abilities, but it's my job to find the house that will best help you succeed and I do it well! You've got a strong sense of justice but not quite a Hufflepuff, and you've got a good sense of ambition but not quite a Slytherin. You're heading to Ravenclaw!"

Apollo’s eyes were largely glued to the canopy of stars that hung above the students and the sea of floating candles that bobbed silently against a windless sky. He knew that the sorting was important to some but it was hard not to marvel at the stars. He could make out Ursa Major, Orion, Leo, and several other constellations. His Aunts taught them all about the stars growing up and told him that if he ever got sad or missed them, than to look to stars and take comfort in the fact that they were somewhere looking at the stars with him.

Apollo was shaken from his daze as he heard his name called as he made his way up to the front of the great hall. He smiled at the professor as he took a seat on the stool and felt the cool shade of the hat settle over his head. “It’s a pleasure to meet you Mr. Hat! You are a fascinating thing you are. Do you ever miss being worn about outside in the sun?” Apollo said in a genuine friendly tone. He had heard of the hat before coming to the school but like the ceiling, something’s simply had to be experienced.

"Nice to meet you too. Hmm, can't say that I do. But enough about me, we're here to focus on you and figuring out which house you'll be in for the next seven years. You'll feel right at home in Hufflepuff!"

Daphne was slightly nervous as she waited to be sorted. She was the first of her siblings to come to Hogwarts. This was a very important part of her Hogwarts journey, finding out what house she was going to be a part of for the next 7 years. She made her way to the stool once she heard her name called. She felt people staring at her as the hat was placed upon her head.

"Caring, kind, and a good sense for right and wrong? You're certainly a Hufflepuff!"

Madelyn had no idea what to expect. She had no clue what house she even wanted to be in to be honest. She stared down at her feet unsure on how to feel as she waited for her name to be called. It felt like forever until she heard her name, took her place on the stool and had the sorting hat placed on her head/

"Oh, yes, magic is quite real! And your thirst for knowledge will help you to discover so much about magic over your seven years... you belong nowhere else but Ravenclaw!"

Marcellus Vetrov stayed next to his twin sister, Minerva, as he walked with the others into the Great Hall. His parents were arranged, then they broke it, then they got married. Strange how that worked out, but at least he and Minerva were free from that fate. Marcel would not allow that sort of thing to ever happen to his sister, or the rest of their family! It was medieval. He looked to Minerva, and remained quiet because they were going to be among the very last to be sorted. At least he would be going first. Both of his parents were Gryffindor, but the Kyles and Vetrov(a)s were in all houses. Marcel did not care where he would be going. He would occasionally look at his twin to see how she was holding up. This was the first time away from their loving parents. Before too long, he heard his name. He nodded toward his sister and walked up to the stool, where he sat down. He looked over the peers as he felt the hat on his head. He just wanted this to be fast and over with, and to go to a house that would let him play Quidditch with no problems at all. That was pretty much all he ever cared about.

"You've certainly got quidditch on the brain, but there's other information there that helps me figure out where to send you. I do see your parents are Gryffindors but you're meant for somewhere different...Hufflepuff!"

Minerva stayed close to her brother Marcellus as they made their way into the Great Hall for the sorting ceremony. It felt strange to finally be in the school she had heard so much about growing up, the place her parents had met and got to know each other during a time in their life when they had been arranged to marry each other and despite that arrangement ending, they still fell in love and got married anyway. Leading to her and Marcellus standing in the Great Hall in front of the sorting hat.

Marcellus was the first of the two to step up to the stool and was placed into his house. Minerva didn't care where she ended up, she just knew she wanted to play Quidditch and she wanted to explore her new surroundings, and have some fun doing so, whatever crest she wore on her robes didn't matter, but if she happened to be in the same house as her brother it wouldn't be awful. As soon as her brother walked off to his house table it was her turn and she stepped up to learn her fate.

"Loyal, perhaps to a fault, and adventurous...must be a Gryffindor!"

Hope Hare couldn't wait to get sorted. She already had so many things she wanted to find out, so many things that she needed to read, like when was this hat made, how did the candles all float like that. What did the houses mean. She had enjoyed listening to the sorting hat song, and eagerly just wanted to know where she should go. The girl applauded loudly for each of the students before her, only wanting the best for all of them and then finally it was her, her turn. She rushed forward quickly, giggling and apology to someone she pushed past and sat down on the stool.

"Being inquisitive will take you far especially as a...Ravenclaw!"
