Lyra Potter slipped off her shoes as she walked through the front door of the home she shared with Ezra Cade. It had been an eventful week at school, so she hadn’t been able to make it home in several days. The children were upstairs playing in their playroom with the nanny, and after Lyra kissed and hugged them, she went into the kitchen to make dinner for her family. While the brunette loved teaching at the school, she missed being home with her children and going to bed with her husband every night. Lyra knew Ezra wasn’t expecting her, but she wanted to see him and talk to him about something that had been weighing on her heart. Lyra intended to make Ezra’s favorite meal. She hummed to herself as she moved around the kitchen.

Home wasn’t the same without Lyra and while Ezra was happy for her doing something she loved in teaching, he couldn’t deny that he missed coming home to her every night. If the position ever did become permanent it would be a huge adjustment for them, not something he would relish, but he would support her all the same. When Ezra arrived home from work he was surprised to find his wife in the kitchen preparing dinner, he forgot everything that had been weighing on his mind and walked up behind and wrap his arms around her. “I didn’t know you’d be home tonight,”

Lyra couldn’t help but smirk as she felt the familiar weight of Ezra Cade as he wrapped his arms around her affectionately. “I thought I’d surprise you.” she said as she turned around to face him, not breaking his embrace. “You know how I like to keep you on your toes, Ezra Cade.” the brunette said playfully. She reached up on her tiptoes to kiss him lightly on the lips. The fact of the matter was that even though she was loving being a professor, she missed him desperately when they were separated. That, and she had something to talk to him about, but Lyra thought it was probably best to feed Ezra before bringing up Felix.

There were few problems in the world that couldn’t be solved by him having Lyra Potter in his arms. She had an uncanny ability of making the world around them melt away until it was just the two of them, and occasionally their children when they wanted to make their presence known. He returned her kiss, letting it linger perhaps a little longer than she’d initially intended given the light pressure, but he was never one to let her go when he had her. “You’ve been surprising me since day one baby,” He smiled at her as they pulled back from the kiss. “What are you cooking? It smells amazing,”
