Benicio had bounded out of bed after receiving the rose with a pep in his step that had been missing for some time. He didn't have a date, how could he when he'd isolated himself so much, but he decided it wasn't a good enough reason to miss out on some treats.

So dressed in some slacks and a very wrinkled button down, the Hufflepuff entered the Great Hall and momentarily took in the sights before setting his eye on the prize: the snack table. Moving swiftly, Benicio spotted an opening and beelined for it.

Theodore wasn't quite sure if he'd managed to secure a date or not. But he decided that he'd show up to the Dance anyway instead of lamenting his utter loneliness. And well, if the pretty lady showed up, then he'd just have to shower her with roses and affection. For now, he was stuck at the snack table, because Theo did so love his snacks and sweets and this was where he was going to camp out if he had no date. It was then he noticed someone suddenly beside him - they moved so quickly Theo was amused himself. "The chocolate-covered strawberries are simply divine," he told the boy whom he was pretty sure was not in his year. "Wanna try?" he said as he held one between his fingers out towards the boy. He was pretty cute.

Benicio wished the music was a little louder so he could just go about his business pretending the music had overpowered anything else he might hear, but that wasn't the case. He looked suspiciously at the chocolate for a moment, the magical world did have trick candy after all. But there was a whole tray of them.

"Sure" he replied hesitantly, reaching out and grabbing the chocolate. He waited a beat to see if anyone else was eating it, but seeing no one he took a bite. The chocolate and strawberry taste flooded his mouth. "Oh this is good" he agreed.

Theo couldn't help but grin when the boy looked to be suspicious at the treat he held. It wasn't like Theo liked pranking - that was solidly his sisters' department. If he'd liked pranking as a child, getting out-pranked had definitely driven it out of him. Still, he couldn't deny that it was just maybe a little bit amusing to keep the other boy guessing whether Theo did prank the sweets. But at the very least, the other boy did take the treat. "Thank the house elves when you see them. They are a godsend and one day, they will rule the world using food," he said as he popped another chocolate-strawberry in his mouth, the pleased hum pretty much voiced how happy he was just chilling here waiting for his date - if she were to arrive anyway. "The macaroons are also to die for," he said as he gestured over to the, funnily enough, only pink-colored macaroons. If there was anything to be said about Hogwarts New Zealand, it was that they definitely liked to stick to their theme. There was a lot of pink.

Benicio nodded in agreement. The house elves did a great job of preparing food for them each day, but today they'd outdone themselves. "Is there anything you don't like?" he quipped as he finished up his first treat and considered another option. The volume in the room was picking up as students continued to pour into the Great Hall for the event. "Did you help with the rose deliveries today?" he asked, trying to make conversation as he settled on a heart-shaped cookie and took a bite.
