Linden was greeted by the sound of Bjorn barking as he walked up the drive. the winter air was cool on the back of his neck where, for so long, his hair had been. he had decided to cut it last night as a way to feel batter about himself. it didn't look good exactly, he would have to go to the barber to tidy it up but he felt lighter without it. freer. it didn't fix anything but at least this morning It helped him feel better.
This was the first full moon morning that he had approached the farm this way. he usually spend the night in New Zealand it used to be with his aunt and in more recent years on willow's sofa or even in their usual home. but now he could appellate and was home for the holiday. sure he hadn't slept that well the previous night the mix of the full moon, and his emotions making slumber hard to get as tears slid invisibly down his face in the dark. but he knew that it was nothing compared to the night tara had had. her transformation coupled with the anxiety and worry about starting school in September, if she was even allowed to go. at least she had seemed to, over the year, got over her uneasiness around the family and made herself at home. she fit well and it was fun having someone his own age around. now willow had gone and Ivy was only a child.
In his hand was a bag containing bacon, eggs and bread rolls. it was almost a family tradition to have bacon and egg rolls after a full moon, apparently the fat and meat helped. he lit the barbecue a distance away from the house and upwind so that it wouldn't wake anyone up and threw the bacon on with a satisfying hiss.
