Aroha was nervous. Aroha was very rarely nervous, but tonight she was. It wasn't like this meant anything - she was just going to the feast with a friend. They weren't even co-ordinating costumes, so it really wasn't a big deal. She was dressed as an All Blacks fan - not exactly spooky, but she thought it was a vaguely amusing thing for a quidditch fan like herself to dress as. She wondered what Fiona would be wearing. She smiled to herself, then felt stupid for smiling. She kept tending to do that when she thought about Fiona and she really needed to stop. They were friends. They'd been friends for ages, and that was that.
Aroha got to the doorway to the Great Hall, waiting for Fiona and fidgeting a little with the hem of her shirt. Not a big deal. Just friends, she kept reminding herself, over and over. Others walked by, entering through the gigantic doorway, and Aroha's heart thudded in her chest. She smiled broadly as she spotted Fiona. "Hey!" she called out, then questioned the way she'd said it. Maybe it was a little too abrupt. Maybe it sounded a bit too chipper. Aroha couldn't stop second-guessing herself - and on something as stupid as the word 'hey'. It wasn't lost on her how ridiculous she'd become, how hard life was now they were closer than ever, and how desperately Aroha wanted to just hold Fiona's hand -
"Shall we go in?" Aroha asked, deliberately interrupting her own thoughts.
