Jacob hadn't expected everyone to take the dance so seriously. He did order a suit and his muggle parents had brought him one and yes it did look nice, but it was nothing that Jacob would ever wear. Jacob was glad he went with Sam, she was normal and it made this whole thing a lot less awkward. He wasn't that good of a dancer, but he had some skill in the matter. He just didn't like to show it off.

Jacob was glad Sam had said yes and that they now were going to the ball as friends. If Jacob was honest he hadn't probably gone at all. He just finished his exams and there was nothing to do anymore hence why he probably was going. Exams went well and Jacob was in a good mood. He couldn't wait to see Sam in her yule outfit. Although he didn't care about clothing, he was still a boy. Jacob blushed and waited for his friend to arrive.

The Yule Ball wasn't something Sam had expected to go go in her first year, let alone care for it. But she was curious to see how people were dressed and who was there and how many people actually went to it. Much older students went for sure, like her cousin. Sam smirked at the thought to herself as she did the final touches. She was still young and so didn't care much for make-up, though she did put a little bit on so she wouldn't look like a zombie since exams were over, and Sam was still catching up her sleep.

Whens he was done, Sam decided to head to the great hall in case her new friend was waiting for her already, which he probably was. She was curious to see how he dressed up and if they were too different or if they matched. It would be interesting to see, at the same time she didn't want to look that odd next to Jacob. She entered the room and searched for the familiar face in the sea of unfamiliar ones. With relief she found him and she went over to him with a small smile on her features. "Hey," she greeted him. "You look nice. Have you been waiting for long?"

Jacob looked around to spot Sam. He knew she would be here soon and Jacob couldn't wait any longer. He spotted Sam in a really adorable blue orange colored dress. It suited her nicely, it was simple, but complimented her hair. Jacob could think way too far and it would make things creepy. He wanted to be normal for once and he greeted Sam. ''You look nice as well'' He muttered softly. ''No and every minute was worth the wait.'' Jacob his cheeks turned pink. He didn't know how to do this and he wasn't flirting. They were going as friends, lovers of astronomy. ''Do you want something to drink?'' Jacob hadn't changed overnight, he was still somewhat awkward. He did try to be less awkward at this moment, he wanted Sam to have fun with him.

Sam smiled at Jacob's compliment. "Thank you," she said softly, not wanting him to feel uncomfortable around her. They were friends now, weren't they? She didn't know how to take his answer to if he had been waiting for long, it was sweet but she wasn't entirely sure what he meant by that. Instead of asking though, she simply smiled and nodded slightly. "Oh, um - sure. I don't know what there is so I'll have what you're having," she told the Ravenclaw and her fellow Astronomy buddy. Maybe they'd be able to have fun soon, without needing to dance, she hoped. She wasn't that great at it. She wasn't terrible, but she didn't dance often.

Sometimes Jacob wanted to turn invisible and run away. This was a moment like that, he didn't know what to do and he wanted to make it a nice day for Sam. Jacob loved writing and astronomy. He had found out that Sam was a Hogwarts intern as well. So she must like writing as well, although he had made the recipe in this entry which wasn't very manly. Jacob walked inside and found the punch bowl. He filled two goblets and gave one to Sam. ''Hope you like punch'' Jacob smiled and took a sip of his drink.

''What do you want to do now?'' Jacob muttered ''We can always stand here in the back and watch others dance very professionally?'' Jacob liked observing people. He didn't want to dance in front of all these people, so hopefully Sam would like it as well.

Sam smiled as Jacob went to get the drinks and he came back after a few seconds. "Thanks," she said, before taking a sip. Well, it was a good thing that it wasn't the alcoholic version, otherwise she'd never get to live this one down. She giggled at his suggestion, she was glad to know that Jacob seemed to be on the same page as her when it came to dancing. "Um, sure, unless you want to dance?" Only after she asked however did it occur to her that maybe he didn't want to or couldn't. She smiled a little awkwardly at him as she asked this, not too sure what else they could do besides talk and watch others dance. "Oh, there's my cousin," Sam said, squinting. Yup, sure enough, Daniel was dancing with his girlfriend - who also happened to be head girl. They were adorable together, even though Sam didn't care about romance. She was still much too young.

The punch tasted nice and Jacob looked at all the people dancing. Some people seemed to absolutely fail, but others seemed pretty decent. Jacob smiled and looked at Sam. ''Dancing isn't suited for me'' Jacob laughed and took another sip of punch. Jacob looked in the direction were Sam was talking about it must we odd seeing your cousin at school ''Don't you find it weird seeing family here?'' Jacob smiled, he didn't have any siblings nor real family, so he had no clue how that would feel. His biological family were all muggles so he would never see them here.
