Fitting and shifting schedules between work and socializing to keep a healthy balance in his life was an aspect of adulthood Flavio expected when he graduated from Hogwarts. What Flavio hadn’t expected however was the addition of Miro, and working two jobs as opposed to one to keep his small family afloat, forcing his intentions of maintaining a healthy balance to become secondary to parenting, as Flavio’s social life was pushed further to the wayside than he ever thought possible. Being in his late teens and early twenties with a baby to take care of, while living with his ex girlfriend who was both the mother of his child and his school sweetheart hardly allowed Flavio the opportunity or even the emotional capacity to socialize with anyone else his age. At least he thought so, feeling outcast from the seemingly carefree lives of his peers. That all changed recently however, when he realised Miro had grown like a beansprout enough to go on outings, and Flavio’s continued letters to Kauri allowed them to somehow co-ordinate a free afternoon on both their schedules and speak in person for the first time in years. It surprised Flavio that Kauri wanted to see him outside of asking for head boy advice, which he no longer needed as a fellow Hogwarts graduate, but Flavio was nevertheless happy to see him again.
The setting was a picnic in Tākarokaro Park and Flavio was excited, pushing Miro along in his stroller until he found the perfect spot to set down the plaid blanket and lay out a few small containers with snacks for Miro to munch on. With the set up ready, Flavio leant over to take Miro out of the stroller, holding him for a moment before sitting down on the blanket and positioning Miro comfortably in front of him. He reached for one of the snack containers and offered Miro a piece of banana, wanting to keep the baby occupied and happy until Kauri arrived.

A big part of Kauri felt like he would never really manage to adjust to the fact that he had finished school. Hogwarts students had gone back to school and he would never be returning, never walk those halls again. Though he'd always be a Gryffindor at heart, those familiar dorms were no longer his home. He was grateful his parents had been more than happy to have him stay at their home while he was getting on his feet as an adult and making the first steps towards his career. It made it much easier to try things and figure out how freelancing worked while he still had the steady income of his job at Florean Fortescue's and the comfort of his familiar family home to come back to. His parents had been relieved to actually spend proper time with him as well, after so many years of Kauri being at boarding school, and it surprised him to really realise how long he had been missing his home. It was nice to help Mum cook dinner regularly again, to sit and watch the rugby with Dad, to get to know his parents properly again after so many years of only seeing them at holidays.

Kauri did need to get out of the house more though, and when he wasn't working or trying to set up his freelancing career, he was beginning to realise his social life had gotten embarrassingly limited. He barely actually left the house, and he was beginning to realise it was difficult to make plans with your friends when you didn't just live with them every day. So it had been a pleasant relief when he had been able to keep up his correspondence with Flavio, and even moreso when those letters had led to plans for a picnic. Kauri was excited to meet Flavio's son for the first time, and for the opportunity to catch up with a school friend outside of the people he worked with at the ice cream parlour. Smiling brightly, Kauri waved as he approached Flavio at the park, chuckled softly as he approached. "Hey! You beat me to setting up! I've got food too, and a present for this one." He smiled warmly, crouching down to Miro's eye level and smiling warmly at the toddler. "Hi Miro! I'm Kauri, it's nice to meet you!" He said cheerfully, shocked at how big Miro was already. It still boggled his mind that Flavio was a father, but it was easy to see his friend's features in the toddler's face already, and he smiled, looking back up at Flavio as he sat down properly. "It's good to see you!"
