Sybil loves a challenge. Usually its a way for her to prove her wits or to learn something new. It's what kick started her love for chess and puzzles. She wished all problems could be solved by simply thinking through the most logical solutions. But rarely is anyone given that kind of chance and she ends up speaking before she means to or before she's had a chance to think something all the way through. She sees most things as skills she just needs to get better at, even making friends. Which is a skill she feels very behind on. So far her strategy is to talk to them until they like her or ask her to leave. Sybil doesn't know how to do things half way which means she can come on a little strong. But she'd rather do things with full enthusiasm than none at all.

Sybil's parents were both muggleborns who were childhood friends before they even found out they were both magical. Together they faced the challenges of learning about the magical world together and started dating as teenagers. Once they graduated they waited a while before getting married and starting their family. But tragedy struck when Sybil's mother, Millie, died during childbirth. It was a devastating loss and her father was never the same. Her father, Brandon, had always been an incredibly disciplined man which had led him to great success in his career with the Ministry and with the lose of his wife he threw himself into his work and Sybil was mostly raised by nannies.
When Sybil was old enough her father hired the best tutors to prepare her for school and to shape her into a well rounded witch. She loves her lessons and learning, and especially loves showing off all the things she learned to her father. She also picked up a fondness for chess at a young age and has competed in many tournaments muggle and magical alike. It's something she takes great pride in and has quiet a few trophies around her room. Despite the emotional distance her father keeps from her, Sybil adores him completely. As she has gotten older he has been more present in her life to impress upon her how important doing well at Hogwarts it is for her future success. He finds it easier to relate to her now that she can almost keep up with him in a conversation, and she hangs on his every word.
