March 18th 2030! The day Patricia turned 21. It wasn’t exactly a special birthday by any means, in fact most people would consider it just another birthday but it was one that was a sort of milestone and for that reason she decided to celebrate it in a way that it was special. Patricia had requested sometime of work, specifically her birthday and a few days before and after but she was due time off before her allocated days ran out. She had been enjoying the days off so far, having returned back home to Ireland to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day as a tradition in her home country. It was nice to be home, she hadn’t had much time to visit her family and friends so it was good to see them again. With a heavy heart she said her goodbye’s again and returned back to New Zealand. She had been thinking about what she wanted to do for her birthday and had been planning her final decision for a few days now. She wasn’t quite sure how it had came to her but she figured it came down to the day at home when she had been watching television and The Little Mermaid came on; she may be in her 20’s but she was still a kid at heart. It didn’t come to her straight away but she knew something was nagging in the back of her head about that particular musical. It had came to her a couple of later, remembering that her good friend, Katheryn Kingsley was actually playing the leading lady in the musical on Broadway. It had always been a dream of Patricia’s to go see a musical on Broadway and she thought now would be a perfect time. Not only would she get to see the musical but she’d also get to see Katheryn and with both of them having such hectic schedules they never got to meet up anymore, this would be perfect. Taking the day to go shopping and get a new outfit she made her way to the United States. She had came her a few times, mostly to visit family, but never got to sightsee much so she spent the hour or so before the play was to start touring up and down the streets of Broadway, taking pictures at the soaring building and pictures, it was all so amazing.

A little while before the play was to start Patricia made her way to the theatre. She was so excited but to tip it off, standing outside the theatre and seeing her friend’s picture and name up in lights was almost too much for her to take, it looked like Katheryn had finally made it and fair play to her, Patricia was so happy for her friend. Entering the theatre she made her way through the crowd, bought a few goodies from the concession stand and a programme among other things she made her way into the main auditorium to find her seat. Once seated she took off her jacket and sat back and began to read her programme. It wasn’t long before the show began, she couldn’t resist a huge grin when she saw her friend on stage; she was amazing. Patricia had chosen a few seats back so she couldn’t be seen from the stage but close enough to enjoy the show. Once it was over Patricia stood up and applauded for her friend and the rest of the cast. Once the crowd had died down a bit Patricia found her way backstage to see if she could catch Katheryn before she left. After begging one of the guards to at least let her friend know she was here, Patricia waited to see if she could come out, so hoping to have company for her birthday.

Katheryn Kingsley had been living in New York City for the past five years, and she had loved every second of her time in the big city. It had taken her two years before she had managed to get a starring role in a musical. That musical had happened to be The Little Mermaid, a classic tale. Kat had been playing Ariel, the mermaid. Her fiery red tresses and bright icy blue eyes had gotten her noticed by the producers for that particular role because she so closely resembled the cartoon version of the character. Since then, Katheryn had performed in various other shows for different amounts of time. However, she always seemed to return to that original role of Ariel. It was her favorite, most beloved role. Tonight was Kat's first show back in the role that had made her into a star. In fact, she would be performing in the show as the little mermaid for the next six months. The show had gone splendidly tonight. Katheryn had been flawless, stunning even in the performance. The only thing that had been less than perfect was the fact that she had no one in the audience for her. Her best friend Brody had work as a photographer for some big shot wedding. Kat was happy for him, but disappointed that he couldn't be here. Kiera and James were busy with the twins, and Cameron had to work as did her new sister in law, Cyndi. Her father lived too far away to just pop in for the night. He was set to visit next week much to Katheryn's delight.

Katheryn walked off the stage after giving her final bow. The natural redhead proceeded back to her large dressing room. The witch took her time changing the muggle way. Her wand was hidden in her purse since she so rarely had the opportunity to use it being that she now lived in the muggle world. Katheryn changed into a dark blue dress and nude heels. She was just putting on her light pink jacket when there was a rap at her dressing room door. Katheryn was curious as she opened the door as to who it could be. She found a security person asking her to come out. There was a young woman waiting for her, insisting that she knew Kat and that they were friends. Katheryn frowned, knowing that she wasn't expecting anyone, but she agreed to come out and see. As the actress rounded the corner, she had an unexpected, delightful surprise. Patricia Styx. She was a friend from Hogwarts New Zealand. A fellow witch that Kat had kept in touch with. Kat squealed with delight and excitement as she threw her arm's around the other young woman's shoulders. "Pat! This is a surprise!" she said, breaking away from the girl. She nodded at the security guard as the man sauntered away. "What brings you here tonight?" Kat asked her friend with curiosity.

As Patricia stood backstage waiting on the guard to come back to see if Katheryn would see her or not the young brunette looked around. The place was huge, she couldn’t believe just how big it was back here. Taking a few steps to her left she saw a curtain that was open just a crack, curiosity taking over she peaked out of the curtain to see the stage and out to the theatre. Eyes wide open she stood froze looking out at the empty theatre, How does Katheryn do this every night? she thought to herself as she saw the vast space. Realising that she was snooping around a place that she really shouldn’t she quickly made her way back to the spot she had been waiting for the guard at. She was starting to get worried. What if Katheryn thought it was just some other random fan and she couldn’t be bothered to come out and see them? She would completely understand, Katheryn had a busy life now, no doubt and was probably getting ready to go out with her friends to party, or at least that’s what her understanding of stars was in New York City, but Katheryn...she wasn’t too sure if she became that type of person or not. Regardless she was famous now so Patricia figured that if Katheryn denied her request she could get the guard to pass on her name and if that failed to work she could go back to sending letters back and forth and let Katheryn know she was there at the show; perhaps they could plan to meet up next time instead of Patricia planning on surprising her and having that backfire on her. Even though she had only been standing there a few moments time started to go by very slowly it seemed. The young Healer had even began to think about what she could do to pass the rest of the night, it was her 21st Birthday and she was in one of the greatest cities in the world, no doubt she could find something to do.

Looking up she saw the guard making his way back and Patricia’s heart sank slightly until she saw a familiar set of fiery red locks. A wide grin stretched over her face when she saw Katheryn turning the corner. Mimicking her friends delighted tones she wrapped her arms around Katheryn’s torso, laughing slightly at the scene they were making. “Oh you know..I was just in the neighbourhood.” she said in a jokey response to Katheryn’s question. “Well not really, it’s my 21st and wanted to do something different. I remembered you were on Broadway so I got a ticket and here I am. Amazing show by the way.” she said, beaming.

Katheryn raised at eyebrow at Patricia as she said that she was in the neighborhood. The actress found that slightly difficult to believe since New Zealand was half way around the world from where she worked and lived. However unlike Kat's friends here in New York City, Patricia Styx was a witch. That meant that she could apparate to New York which was much more convenient than taking a muggle airplane. would have been a much longer trip. Kat's suspicions were confirmed when Pat admitted to it being her birthday. Your twenty first birthday was certainly a big deal. Katheryn couldn't think of a better place to spend the night than in the city that never sleeps. Her mind began ticking as she began to think of things to show Pat, places where they could go dance the night away. Katheryn had originally been heading to a benefit gala that the producers were hosting. The young woman was thrilled to get to change her plans. Hanging out with Patricia for her birthday would be so much more enjoyable.

"Thank you. I'm glad you liked the show." Katheryn said with a smile in response to her friend's compliment. "What do you think you might want to do tonight?" the young redheaded woman asked her friend. Since she never ate before a show, Katheryn was actually quite hungry. There was food backstage though that she could grab on her way out. "Are you hungry? There are light foods back stage or we can go to dinner?" Katheryn asked, uncertain which her friend would prefer. "I know a night club that we could go to near my apartment if you are interested in doing something like that." she suggested. Katheryn had a newer apartment than when she had first moved to the city. This one was much larger and on the Upper East side. She had used a small portion of the money from her trust fund when she turned twenty one as well as her old apartment in order to upgrade to her new place. There would be plenty of room for Pat to stay the night. As far as Katheryn was concerned, Patricia could stay and visit as long as she wanted.

Patricia laughed off the slight look of confusion on Kat’s face when she made the worn out joke of ‘being in the neighbourhood’ when someone showed up somewhere that they wouldn’t usually be. Patricia didn’t really know what possessed her to come up with the joke, she always found it boarder lining on annoying when people used it on her, it was such an old joke it should be dead. Putting her bad joke to the side moved on to the real reason why she was here. She was so excited to spend her 21st birthday in New York City, it was almost a dream come true for her. She had always wanted to visit the States, specifically New York City. She didn’t know why it had taken her so long to get her in the first place, she had been able to apparate since she was in 6th year of Hogwarts New Zealand and even before that she had been aware of the Floo Network system and she was sure that she could find somewhere that she could arrive that wouldn’t be too suspicious, like arriving the fireplace of some muggle family; she was sure that the Ministry of Magic wouldn’t be too happy about that. Although with her schooling and then pretty much starting a job after graduation and helping Luna with Adele, Patricia really didn’t have much time for herself so this would be why she was only now getting to New York, she was definitely going to have to do it again sometime, maybe see it more during the day. Sure the bright lights of Broadway and the city lit up at night were beyond amazing, but there was so much that she wanted to do that could only be done during the day, all the usual sightseeing stuff.

Patricia nodded her head in a ‘you’re welcome’ motion when Kat thanked her for her compliment on the show. It really was an amazing show. She was surprised the some parts of the musical were different than the Disney move that she had grown up with but she liked it, made knowing the turnout at the end a little bit better as there was some others things that were new to her. When Kat asked the 21 year old what she might want to do tonight she shrugged her shoulders and had an ‘I’ve no idea look on her face.’ She hadn’t really planned that much yet, she actually had no idea what else she wanted to do for her birthday. There was so much to do; hopefully Kat had a better idea than her. Listening to her friend’s ideas she almost felt overwhelmed with ideas. Thinking on it she realised that she was quite hungry, she didn’t really eat much before she left for the show. “Well I am hungry! Where do you suggest? Somewhere that we could catch up, it’s been too long.” she said, realising just how long it had felt since they had talked.
