Summer holidays

[Mallory Malkin]

Mallory was happy that it was summer. She loved the sun and sitting out in sunlight. And to add it all, Andrew was coming for holidays. She had the house cleaned although it always remained spotless thanks to the hardworking house elf she had inherited. Andrew had told her that he would bring Caina with him. Mallory was happy that he finally had learned to make friends, this he lacked in his first year.

They had planned that they’d meet at the Brightstone station and from there Mallory would take them to the White Serpent Manor like last time. Only, that this time, they would travel by side-apparation instead of using muggle transport.

Mallory apparated in the railway station and waited with the other parents and guardians. She was wearing a long, chocolate-brown dress and matching jewelry to go with. Her curls were left open just for a change. She stood as she waited because she thought that the railway benches were very dusty and unsuitable for her. She preferred her hygiene compared to relaxing and especially when it came to sitting on something so cheap.

After five minutes or so she heard the steam engine’s whistle as it came closer to the station and finally coming to a halt. She didn’t bother to find Andrew because she knew he’d find her.

Andrew got impatient to see Mallory. He missed her god mom so much during the second term. He was happy that it was summer and he was going back. He was glad that Caina had once again accepted his invitation to join him for summer. He would make sure to give her a good time.

During the ride he bought chocolate frogs and pumpkin pastries, his favorites and shared them with Caina. Finally, the train came slowed down and stopped. “Were here” he said with a smile. As he took his trunk and carried it to the platform his eyes searched for Mallory but first, he came back to help Caina with her’s.

Once they had both their trunks on the platform he looked around to find Mallory. Many happy faces were finding their kids. Finally his eyes spotted the chocolate brown dressed one. He smiled as he took the trunks to where she stood.

Caina was more excited than ever to spend the summer holidays with Andrew. With a simple note she had sent her parents on that train ride, she explained that she wouldn't be home for this break. Not that they minded. Caina couldn't even remember the last time she spent more than 24 hours in that house that she hated to call home.

Sitting on the train with Andrew, Caina happily ate up some chocolate frogs not worrying about stupid things like calories and such like the girls her age were started to. What a pathetic waste of time such things were. Talking the whole way there, Caina had to say the train ride seemed only to last seconds.

Once they did arrive she took her truck following Andrew to where he saw his god mother. Walking over, Caina hoped she looked alright. She always liked to impress. Her outfit today was that of a jean skirt and a light red shirt. Simple yet nothing too boring. Smiling at the women, Caina gave a slight hello feeling more at ease as the seconds passed.

"Hey kids" she said with a smile as she hugged Caina and then Andrew. "Hope you aren't to tired, we'll just have to get somewhere less crowded then we can apparate" she said as she waved her wand and levitated the two trunks and led them to a quite corner. "I'm sure this is the first time you both are doing side appartion" she said as she placed their trunks beside them.

"Now both of you will hold your trunk in one hand and hold me with the other. Its very simple" she said smiling confidently to reassure Caina and Andrew that it was nothing to worry about. "At the count of three, think about the outsides of the manor and don't leave my hand or you might end up in one of the undiscovered Islands" she joked hoping she wasnt scaring them.

She holded Andrew and Caina's hand and thought about the manor and her feet left the plaform and in a few seconds she landed outside the manor premises.

"Hey Mallory. I missed you so much" he said hugging her. "Apparation? Why are we apparating?" he asked a bit scared. Andrew followed Mallory to the quiet corner and then looked up to her. He grabbed his trunk tightly and with another hand he tolded Mallory's hand.

He gulped as the view of the platform dissolved into nothingness. He felt like he couldn't breathe. His trunk started shaking and in another moment he touched the ground and felt the cold air on his face. He was on the ground with the trunk beside him, they had fallen. Atleast he had. He got up and brushed off the dust from his clothes.

"That was scary" he said as he picked up his trunk."Caina, how was it for you?"he asked as he helped her with her trunk.

Caina was glad that the hug between her and Mallory was not odd or arkward. Maybe more so that Caina seemed to feel as if Mallory was becoming more just like family to this young Slytherin. "Apparate" Caina repeated hearing the turn only once. It was something like a taking a portkey without the portkey itself? Well at least that was how Caina took the term by definement.

Breath She thought calming herself down as she looked over at Andrew hoping he wasn't as nervous as she was. Holding on tight to her trunk and to Mallory's hand, Caina counted to three in her mind. One, Two She thought dreading the last number Thre... she began but then she felt the sensation as they went.

Caina felt her feet land on the ground her knees giving in for a moment as she attempted to retain her balance. Standing up, she let go of Mallory's hand. "That was well" Caina said trying to figure a word to discribe it. "A head rush for lack of better words" She continued flashing Andrew a smile showing that she was ok.

"But I doubt I will be able to do that too often" She added with a small laugh.
