Closed Strings and surprises

The day was wonderful. Alexis arrived at the castle a day prior to the start of the semester to settle in. She was excited for her fifth year now that she planned to go back to Quidditch. She had already been to the pitch for a couple of laps before going back to her dormitory to change clothes and headed back to the lake to meet Xavier. She wondered if he had arrived already. They exchanged letters over the holidays that they would meet before the semester started. With her guitar in hand, she approached the tree where they first met. Sat on the grass facing the lake, she started playing a melody before launching to a song she had recently liked. Along with the guitar was a carefully wrapped present she found over the holidays. She deeply hoped that her boyfriend would like it.​

Xavier was beyond excited to be back, and although he didn’t have many close friends, he considered his girlfriend his best friend. He finished his lunch and quickly headed back to the common room, he wanted to look presentable when he were to meet Alexis. She was the person he was most comfortable around, and on top of that, the puff always seemed to want to impress her. He headed down to the lake when he was ready, looking for her. He smiled as soon as his gaze landed on her, of course, the place where he could always find her was the tree where they’d met for the first time. He didn’t want to interrupt her, it was beautiful and the fifth year was drawn to how melodic her voice sounded. But then, he got an idea, and without greeting her he sat down next to her and started singing along, realising he actually knew the song, and was surprised he remembered the lyrics.

Alexis had just realized that the song she was singing was a duet. Her eyes were busy on the sunlight playing on the lake water as her fingers played the chords that would lead to the male part. Just as she was about to open her mouth and sing, a movement happened next to her and the next thing she knew, her favorite person in school was already there singing with her. Blue eyes twinkled as she sang along, their voices blended with the soft breeze. Her smile just grew brighter as the song came to its end. She had already learned not to be shy around Xavier when she was singing. After all, it was music that brought them together. She strummed the last chords, letting them fade in the wind. Her eyes did not leave Xavier's face. It was her first time to see him after the holidays, though exchanged letters over the holidays. She had wanted him to visit their house and play other musical instruments. However, the Kramers suddenly decided to go to Germany for the holiday break."Xav...", she said softly.​
