The young witch sighed at nothing, bored from spending a day reading useless books, assigned to her by her grandmother. Amber was supposed to know how to walk, and act like a royal, when she wasn't even royal, a ridiculous thing to ask of a teenager, yet her grandmother didn't see anything wrong with treating Amber like a child, refusing to accept she was growing up just as much as anyone else. Surely her grandmother's old fashioned way of thinking would subside, leaving Amber free reign to do what she wanted with her time, instead of finding herself bored. The witch knew she didn't have to read all the books her grandmother sent her, nor did she need to do anything her grandmother said, yet the brunette had an overhanging cloud of duty looming over her head. Amber's path was obvious, this obedience she endured as a child would eventually crumble away into nothing, revealing an angsty, rebellious teenager to the world, but somehow the idea of going against the restrictions posed by her family seemed too foreign, meaning any intention Amber might have had to rebel, destroy, or break any form of law was non-existent.
The knocks on Amber's front door echoed through her house, causing her to stand up from her desk, and quickly return her books to her bookshelf, before running down the stairs towards the front door. Midyear, Amber's mother and father had let all the staff go, except for the chef, who also worked as a housekeeper, leaving Amber feeling more alone in her house than ever, no matter how kind, and entertaining her housekeeper was. Thus being the reason Amber was especially excited to play host to her closest friend Katie that night for a sleepover. School had caused the two to grow apart nearing the end of the school year, but now that the holidays had started, Amber and Katie could reconnect through a mountain of sugary junk food and giggling, until their eyelids grew heavy and they put themselves to rest for the night. But luckily the night had barely begun, and all the fourteen year old Amber had to do was open the door, instigating the beginning of their sleepover.
She slowly turned the doorknob, pulling the large oak door towards her, a wide smile appearing on her features as her best friend Katie came into view. "Hey!" Amber exclaimed, rushing forward to give Katie a quick hug, before grabbing her friend's wrist, and walking inside with Katie in tow. Amber led her younger friend to her bedroom, perching herself on the window seat once they arrived, assuming Katie would join her. "What would you like to do first?" She asked, her toothy grin widening. They could start by catching up on each other's lives, or they could eat as much junk food as they could handle, the choice was left up to Katie.
