Re-entering the busy chamber after a brief intermission for the duelists to recuperate, Katherine gestured again for the two combatants to take their places on opposite ends of the platform. This would be the final and deciding match of the year, and would determine the overall victor. Stepping away from the platform as soon as the professors were in position, the Headmistress took her place on a further elevated podium, and raised her hands for attention. "Duelists, prepare yourselves." The woman called, allowing the two a moment to bow. "Commence."

Matt had no idea how he had ended up in the final round of the dueling tournament. Especially not in the final duel against one of the professors who actually taught a subject that had to do with spellcasting. He had watched a few of Aeon's duels, seeing how the man used transfiguration spells rather than common charms or curses. It made sense, but it also made Matt a little nervous. How badly was he going to embarrass himself? He wasn't above a bit of humor in these duels, but he knew he had to be serious for this one if he wanted to have any chance. He bowed to Aeon before pointing his wand at him. "Petrificus Totalus." He said. He knew he wasn't thinking outside the box, but maybe the most simple course of action would be best right now.

For a moment there, Summers had thought his duel against Kingsley would be his final one - right until he'd managed to swallow her up inside of the very platform they'd stood on. He'd been shocked that it had worked, using a spell that wasn't directly aimed at his opponent, but around her. It was unlikely to work a second time, so when he came up to face his final opponent and bowed towards the man, he kept a general cross-species transfiguration spell in mind instead. Unluckily for him, he'd been too slow to cast the first spell yet again. "Nope." Aeon muttered, conjuring a shield to protect himself from the petrification curse. Not today, Satan. He'd come this far, and he planned to take it the whole way. "Toadus." A flourish of his wand sent the human-to-toad transfiguration in the direction Matt stood on the opposite side.

Matt wasn't very surprised his spell hadn't hit the younger man he was facing. He knew Aeon was a skilled duelist, and all he could really hope to accomplish during this duel was to stall until he had been beaten. He also wasn't surprised to have a transfiguration spell aimed at him, which he blocked with a shield charm before aiming his wand again. "Confundo!"

Raising his wand, Summers conjured up another magical barrier to block the incoming Confundus charm. "Duro." He incanted with another flick to try and transfigure his opponents clothing to solid stone.
